OVW TV #717: "Hayes Has Fun, Coalition Has Last Laugh"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, May 15, 2013. This episode can be seen online starting tomorrow at www.ovwrestling.com/tv. In this episode, Jay Bradley stirs up chaos in naming himself #1 contender, Michael Hayes sets a series of matches up for the Coalition's Ghillie Man, Delta Team Bravo, & Crimson, new Television Champion Randy Royal defends against "Mr. Pec-Tacular", the Blossoms are in action, plus more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

Elvis Pridemoore & "Marksman" Nick Dumeyer vs. Lambda Lambda Lambda: Albert Einstein Baxter II & Stephon J. Baxter III.
Elvis & Dumeyer argue on the way to the ring, stemming from their encounter at SNS. Elvis starts out with Stephon, but tells him to tag Albert in. Elvis locks up with Albert, drops him, and puts him in a leg lock. He then switches to a headlock before working over the arm. He tags in Dumeyer. Dumeyer hits a snapmare, but misses an elbow drop. Albert tags Stephon. Stephon works over Dumeyer's arm and brings Albert back in. They hit a double drop toehold and both drop headbutts down on Dumeyer. Dumeyer comes back and clotheslines Stephon and tags Elvis. Elvis smacks Albert around, slams him, and tries to pin. He argues with Dumeyer, and Stephon runs in and butts their heads together, and then drags Albert back to his corner. He tags in and hits a hip toss on Elvis, followed by a butt bump. As Elvis hits Albert, Stephon turns around and Dumeyer hits him with a running clothesline for the pin.
WINNERS: DUMEYER & ELVIS by pinfall.
MY TAKE: Elvis seems to be fed up with teaming with the Marksman.

Flash Flanagan vs. Austin Bradley (w/"VIP" Joe Rosa).
VIP causes a distraction which allows Austin to attack Flash from behind. He throws Flash in the corner, but Flash comes back with some nasty chops to the chest. He punches him and goes off the ropes, but VIP (who came out on crutches) hits Flash in the back with a crutch, which the ref does not see. Austin is able to pound on Flash a little more, but Flash is back with some more chops. Flash throws him in the corner and runs into a boot. Austin distracts the ref, and VIP chokes Flash from the outside. He tries to pin for 2. They exchange blows, and Austin slams him. He hits a legdrop and goes up top. Flash gets back up and slams him down from the top rope. He chops him, clotheslines him, and hits a running forearm. He then hits VIP for good measure, before slamming Austin, and hitting a jumping reverse legdrop off the second rope and getting the pin.
WINNER: FLASH by pinfall.
MY TAKE: Flash continues his winning streak as he is able to overcome outside interference.

"The King of Pink" Dylan Bostic vs. 4M: "Mister Marvelous" Melvin Maximus.
4M shoves Bostic down twice. Dylan with a side headlock, but 4M throws him off and Dylan runs into a shoulder tackle. 4M hits a big slam, but misses a knee drop, twisting his knee in the process. Bostic focuses in on this working over the knee and using several submissions. He misses a splash on the knee, and 4M throws Dylan from corner to corner. He hits a hip toss and goes for the torture rack, but Dylan slides off and rolls 4M up with a handful of tights for the victory.
WINNER: BOSTIC by pinfall.
MY TAKE: Although he let a win slip through his fingers at SNS, Bostic gets back in the win column tonight.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on OVW's official website late Thursday afternoon/evening at www.ovwrestling.com/tv and on WBNA ion-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 12 noon with replays Wednesdays at 9PM after WWE Main Event.

Paredyse vs. Aaron Sky.
Paredyse locks up with Aaron. Aaron with a side headlock takedown. He hits a dropkick and goes for another side headlock takedown, but Paredyse blocks it and slams Aaron down. He tries to throw Aaron out of the ring, but Aaron hangs on the apron and flips back in on Paredyse. He hits Paredyse in the corner and goes to throw him, but Paredyse reverses. Aaron jumps up on the ropes, but Paredyse crashes into the corner and Aaron slips off the top rope. He grabs his leg, and Paredyse works it over. Paredyse misses a drop on his leg, and Aaron comes back and throws Paredyse in the corner. He runs into a boot, though, and Paredyse runs out and hits a spinning neckbreaker for the pin.
WINNER: PAREDYSE by pinfall.
After the pin, Jay Bradley runs into the ring. He delivers a Boomstick to Paredyse and throws Aaron out of the ring. He starts yelling for Jamin Olivencia and says he is proclaiming himself #1 contender. Director of Operations Michael Hayes is out and is confused. He says Jay was fighting for Team OVW last week, and now he's out here trying to call the shots? Jay says he doesn't play for any team. They are then interrupted by the Coalition's Crimson, Ghillie, & Delta Team Bravo. Crimson says that "General" Wayne & "Lieutenant Lats" are in an important meeting with the Board of Directors. He says what Hayes did at SNS was unfair and that Hayes knows nothing about war. Hayes says he has something for them tonight and tells Ghillie he will be facing Rob Terry, Delta Team Bravo will be in a 4-corner tag match, and Crimson will go 1-on-1 with Sam Shaw.
MY TAKE: The show looked like it was going to be Coalition-heavy, but could they withstand the competition set up by Michael Hayes?

Nikki St. John & Lovely Lylah vs. Holly & Hannah Blossom.
Lylah locks up with Holly and Lylah throws Holly off the ropes. Hannah blind tags and they hit a double dropkick. Nikki runs in into a double hip toss. Hannah tags Holly back in, and Holly gets double teamed by Lylah & Nikki. Lylah misses a standing moonsault, and Holly tags Hannah. Hannah takes out Nikki and after a suplex to Lylah, the Blossoms hit their finisher on her for the pin.
WINNERS: BLOSSOMS by pinfall.
MY TAKE: The Blossoms continue to be successful in their latest OVW run.

In the back, Randy Royal is trying to give something to Tony Gunn for helping him, but Tony doesn't want to take it. Rockstar Spud comes in and gets in Gunn's face. Royal steps in between them and says if he has something to say, to say it to him. Spud tells him to hold on to the title as long as he can and to pay as many bills as he can now, because when he gets another opportunity, he'll be taking it back.

OVW TELEVISION TITLE: "Mr. Pec-Tacular" Jessie Godderz vs. "The Double R Superstar" Randy Royal (w/Tony Gunn) [c].
Jessie locks in a side headlock. Randy reverses, but Jessie throws him off and hits a hip toss. He splashes him in the corner. Randy comes back and hits a dropkick. Jessie hits him, but Randy hits the high knee for 2. Jessie uppercuts him and slams him and tries to pin for 2 twice. Jessie hammers Randy across the chest and stomps on his hand. He misses his patented legdrop, and Royal fires back and knees Jessie in the head. Pin attempt for 2. Jessie pulls Randy into the turnbuckle and tries for a stunner, but Randy pushes him off and hits the knockout forearm for 3.
WINNER and STILL OVW TV CHAMPION: ROYAL by pinfall.
MY TAKE: An important win for Randy. He faced a tough competitor in Godderz, but will continue to do whatever it takes to win the weekly $1000 bonus and pay off the medical bills.

In the back, the women are talking in their locker room when Heidi Lovelace enters. Everyone stops talking, and Nikki St. John says she doesn't belong in here. Epiphany & Trina both walk up and say it took a lot of courage and are happy for her.

Ghillie Man vs. "The Welsh Colossus" Rob Terry.
Rob grabs Ghillie before he can run out and hammers him in the corner. He hits his finisher and pins him in a total annihilation.
WINNER: TERRY by pinfall.
MY TAKE: Ghillie never stood a chance.

In the ring, Terry Boddie announces a big match for the show in E-Town on May 25th. The Mobile Homers will meet 2 memebers of the Coalition in a steel cage! Jay Bradley comes out and throws Terry to the mat and kicks him. He yells for Jamin again as he grabs Cody the camera man, and says he is all about making statements, just like he did in GutCheck, and just like he'll do in the Bound For Glory series this summer.

4-CORNER TAG MATCH: The Mobile Homers: Ted McNaler & Adam Revolver (w/Brittany Devore) vs. Rudy Switchblade & Eddie F. Diamond (w/Timmy Danger & Bobbi Bardot) vs. The Rockstars: Ryan Howe & Rockstar Spud vs. Delta Team Bravo: "Rudo" Raul LaMotta & Shiloh Jonze.
This was essentially a 6-on-2 match. They surrounded Raul & Shiloh to keep them from running away. They gang up on them, take out Shiloh, and then beat up on Raul, with the Mobile Homers hitting the Double Wide, and Rudy hitting a frog splash for the pin. Even though Rudy & Diamond officially win, Dean Hill took the mic and said the winners are everyone who hates the Coalition.
WINNERS: SWITCHBLADE & DIAMOND by pinfall.
MY TAKE: It looked like this was going to be a bad night for the Coalition.

Jamin is in the back knocking on locker room doors looking for Jay Bradley. He finds Michael Hayes and tells him he's going to confront Jay, but Hayes says to let him handle it, and to trust him.

"General" Crimson vs. Sam Shaw.
Crimson keeps running around the ring and not getting in. Shaw finally dives out onto him and throws him into the commentary desk. He rolls him in and hits 3 axehandle drops. He hits him in the corner, but Crimson reverses and hits Shaw. He tries to backflip him, but Shaw lands on his feet. Crimson nails him with a shot to the jaw, though, and then backflips him to the mat. He chokes him, but Shaw comes back again. He hits his backbreaker/neckbreaker combo and sets up for something in the corner when Delta Team Bravo starts to walk out. The Mobile Homers, Rudy, Diamond, Howe, & Spud are all back out and cut them off. The ref is distracted by this, and Crimson nails Shaw with the flagpole. He tries to pin, but Shaw kicks out! Crimson goes for Red Sky, but Shaw slips away and rolls Crimson up for 3.
WINNER: SHAW by pinfall.
MY TAKE: A very bad night up to this point for the Coalition.

Jay Bradley comes out again and grabs Dean Hill and throws him in the ring. Before he can do anything, Jamin runs out and screams "I'm right here, Jay!". He is followed by Michael Hayes. The Coalition comes back out, too. Crimson says the Coalition has experienced another casualty, because Ghillie is suffering from internal bleeding, thanks to his match from earlier. Hayes says he is the boss and Crimson and the "goof troop" need to go to the back. Crimson says "General" Wayne & "Lieutenant Lats" just contacted them from their meeting with the Board of Directors and they don't care about "Squinty" (pointing at Jay Bradley), him (pointing at Jamin), or you (pointing at Hayes). They say Hayes is no longer in a position of power. They call out Mr. Davis to explain it to a confused Hayes. Danny Davis comes out and says he doesn't know what they have on the Board, but he does have bad news. Although he and the fans think Michael has done a heck of a job, he's fired as Director of Operations.
MY TAKE: This leaves the fans with many questions. Will Hayes return to the ring? Who will be named the new Director of Operations?

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

Bodyguy & Trina vs. Heidi Lovelace & The Assassin.
Bodyguy is out first and says he is teaming with the Women's Champion. He says Trina may one day hope to have a body like his. Heidi comes out without a partner. Bodyguy says that's fine, the three of them can go back to the "Body Lair", and he'll give them a preview of what to expect. He starts to disrobe as the lights go out. When the lights come on, Bodyguy has his robe stuck over his eyes. When he finishes getting it off, he sees the Assassin standing there and gets a massive clothesline. Assassin blows Heidi a kiss and the lights go out again. When they come back, the Assassin has disappeared and Heidi pins the Bodyguy as Trina just watches.
WINNERS: HEIDI & ASSASSIN by pinfall.
MY TAKE: I don't think Trina was too concerned about picking up a victory in mixed tag action with Bodyguy.

"Lonesome" Jay Bradley vs. Tony Gunn.
Jay controls most of the match hammering Gunn, hitting a snapmare, and slamming him. He locks him in a long sleeper hold, but Gunn fights back. He hits a dropkick, a backdrop, and goes for the YTO, but Jay kicks him off. Gunn turns around into a Boomstick, and Jay pins him for the win.
WINNER: BRADLEY by pinfall.
MY TAKE: With a new director of operations to be announced, will Jay convince them to be #1 contender for Jamin's title?

Don't forget this episode will be up online tomorrow. As always, thanks for reading!

  1. Lemme get this straight,.....the Coalition has been mugging people 5 on 1, 6 on 2, etc.., been jumping people in the locker rooms, using weapons, and stuffing wrestlers in body bags, but when they take a complaint to the board, Michael Hayes gets fired......Yeah, right !

    1. I just report what happens, but maybe we will see Michael Hayes get his revenge in the near future.

  2. The Coalition probably has somebody paid off. Jerks.

  3. Someone needs to tell those jerks on the board of directors that ultimately, its the fans who decide how successful OVW is. The fans are getting sick of the Coalition, and are not going to continue paying their hard earned money for something they don't want to see. Get a clue, fellas.

  4. I agree with the previous comment, Did the board not remember Josie's takeover last year ? This is like Deja Vous, different characters, same plot. There's only so much, we the fans, can tolerate.

    1. It has some similarities, but I believe the
'payoff' will be worth it in the end.
