OVW TV #803: "Institutionalized Racism"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, January 7, 2015. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 9AM and 10PM, and online on Monday at www.ovwrestling.com/tv. In this episode, Mohamad Ali Vaez explains his actions, we have our first entrants in the 2015 Nightmare Cup, Eddie Diamond goes up against OVW TV Champion Dapper Dan, plus more!

My good friends from Triple Threat Talk (Gary "the Doctor" Lockard, "Postmaster" Jimmy Biggers, and "Big B" Brandon DeMuro) made it out tonight, so I spent some time catching up with them. The following is a quick recap of tonight's events.

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

Rump Thump defeated J. Best with the Rump Thump.

"The No Class Connection": Deonta Davis & Leon Shelly defeated "Ram Jam" Jonathan Ramser & Elvis Pridemoore after Deonta rolled Ram Jam up with a handful of tights.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on ion/WBNA-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 9AM and 10PM (check local listings) and on OVW's official website Mondays at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.

Dean Hill & Gilbert Corsey are on commentary, and Gilbert is also the ring announcer.

Adam Wylde defeated "Rudo" Raul LaMotta with a quick rollup.

Gilbert Corsey brings out OVW Owner Danny Davis & Trailer Park Trash. They talk about their win over Michael Titus & the War Machine at the Saturday Night Special. They have papers that say Titus is not out of OVW, but professional wrestling altogether. Titus' attorney had also sent papers, but Trash rips them up. Danny then says that other superstars his age like Jerry Lawler have had health issues, but he has been blessed with good health and had fun competing. He wants to ask Frank a serious question. He helped him against Titus, and wants to know if Frank will help him to go after a title named after him. He's referring to the Nightmare Cup Tournament. Frank agrees, and we have our first official entrants.

OVW TELEVISION TITLE: Eddie F. Diamond vs. Dapper Dan (c).
Dapper Dan with some power moves, but Eddie rebounds and is on a roll when Chris Silvio runs out and attacks Eddie.
WINNER: EFD by DQ.
After the match, Silvio hits Eddie with a chair and delivers 2 flying elbow drops. He yells at Mary Jane and tells her to only do what he says.

Gilbert Corsey brings out Mohamad Ali Vaez to explain his actions. Ali takes the mic away, and tells Gilbert he won't win another Emmy off of him. He says that last year, he suffered through several concussions, giving his all for the company and defending the tag titles by himself when Michael Hayes was away, but after talking about retirement, heard a "Wal-Mart is hiring" comment from someone in the crowd and that really struck a nerve. While he was laid up, he never got a phone call from Danny Davis, Trailer Park Trash, Dean Hill, or even Michael Hayes. He says Michael used this time as an opportunity to step up and try to claim the top prize.
Hayes comes out and says that while Ali was feeling sorry for himself with a bottle in hand, he was fighting hard to get a chance at the OVW Heavyweight Title. Ali claims that this is part of the "institutionalized racism", and says Hayes just used him. Hayes says that it was him that pretty much single-handedly won the titles from Crimson & Jason Wayne when they were a team, and that Ali just came out toward the end to hog the glory. This goes back and forth with Hayes saying he would've won the Heavyweight Title had it not been for Ali's interference. Adam Revolver comes out and says he would have beat Hayes at the SNS without Ali's interference and then tries to stir the pot by saying something about racism again, and says they can continue this lover's quarrel.
Jim Cornette comes out and says he believes Hayes was about to win also, so the rematch will happen tonight, and Ali is barred from the building!

"Wrestling's Rockstar" Ryan Howe defeated "Apostle" Jake Glasure (w/Jade Dawson) after Apostle taps to the Whammy Bar, despite outside interference from Jade.

"War Machine": Shiloh Jonze & Eric Locker (w/Josh Ashcraft) defeated "TerreMex": Randy Terrez & the Mexicutioner after all 4 men end up in the ring and TerreMex goes to throw Locker & Shiloh into each other. Terrez throws Locker and turns his back. Shiloh breaks free from Mexicutioner, Locker hits Mex, and then gives him the T-Bone Suplex for the 3. After the match, Terrez yells about the loss.

OVW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE: Michael Hayes vs. Adam Revolver (c).
Before the match, Ali has snuck back in and attacks Hayes. He delivers a double underhook DDT on the floor. Revolver comes out as Jim Cornette checks on Hayes. Revolver says there must be a winner, and Hayes returns to his feet. The match goes on, but Revolver exposes a turnbuckle during the match and hits Hayes' head off of it to get the 3.
WINNER: REVOLVER by pinfall.

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

Adam Wylde & "Primetime" Robbie Walker defeat OVW Southern Tag Team Champions "The Fabulous Free Bodies": The Bodyguy & Big Jon after Wylde rolls up Bodyguy in a small package.

As always, thanks for reading!

  1. I don't agree with everything Ali Baez said, but the crack about Wal-Mart hiring was uncalled for.

  2. Ali Baez is over reacting with this "institutionalized racism". Ali is supposed to ignore all of the negative comments from the crowd and thank he crowd for the positive comments.
