OVW TV #821: "Who Got Their Belle Rung?"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, May 13, 2015. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 10PM, and online on Monday at www.ovwrestling.com/tv. In this episode, Jim Cornette makes a promise to Josh Ashcraft, Randy Royal comes out to discuss his recent absences, Eddie Diamond defends the Heavyweight Title in an open challenge, Adam Revolver defends the TV Title against Ryan Howe in a rematch from SNS, plus more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

Jade Dawson defeated Leon Shelly. A decent back-and-forth match. Jade put Leon away with the spinning legdrop to the back of Leon's head for the 3.

Big Jon (w/Josh Ashcraft) defeated Dave-Lo. Jon toyed with Dave-Lo, twice pulling him off the mat when he could have pinned him. He dominated with his power and finally put Dave-Lo away with a huge chokeslam.

Trevor Steele defeated Dre Blitz. Dre gets in a little offense, but Trevor is hardly fazed. Trevor puts Dre away with a gutwrench powerslam.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on WBNA ion-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 11AM and 10PM (check local listings) and on OVW's official website Mondays at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.

Shannon the Dude & Gilbert Corsey are on commentary, and Shannon is the ring announcer.

Gilbert Corsey brings out Jim Cornette. Cornette plugs his appearance coming up at the Kentucky Flea Market on Memorial Day Weekend, then proceeds to talk about losing at the Special to Josh Ashcraft. He says Josh is a coward for hitting him low, and Josh outcheated him. He promises he will find someone however, that is more rude, crude, vile, and evil to take care of Josh.

OVW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE OPEN CHALLENGE: Eddie Diamond (c) defeated Adam Wylde. A really good back and forth match between these two. Wylde connects with a super kick for 2. He goes for his patented roundhouse kick, but Eddie ducks, locks in the Crossfire, and Wylde is forced to tap.

The Congregation comes out and today's good word is 'wannabe'. They got rid of Jade Dawson, and they have had many applicants who are wannabes, that want to join the Congregation, but none of them are worthy, just like Jake's opponent the Mexicutioner.
The Mexicutioner defeated "Apostle" Jake Glasure (w/"Pastor of Disaster" Rev. Stuart Miles) by DQ. Jake controlled early, but Mex fired back and hit a huge spinebuster. As he set up for the spear, Stu got on the apron and slapped Mex in the head shouting "Be healed!", causing the DQ. After the DQ, Jake came up behind Mex and slammed him to the mat, and Mex was double-teamed by Jake & Stu.
Jade Dawson came to the ring and Jake & Stu ran off.

Randy Royal comes to the ring. He wants to apologize to the fans and the boys in the back for not being able to make the last few specials, even though it wasn't his fault. He says maybe he stuck his nose in business that it didn't belong in, but he remembers being a young rookie 15 years ago, and doesn't think it's right for Shane Williams and his misfit toys to try to hurt the boys trying to make a name for themselves. However, maybe he should just call a truce. King Shane comes out with the Queen, Vic the Bruiser, & Jason Lee. He says that they are going to beat Royal's brains out as they surround the ring.
Trailer Park Trash runs out with a steel pipe and chases them off. He says he knows Randy has made some mistakes like he has along the way, but knows he wanted to come back and right some wrongs. He also knows what Vic & Jason are capable of, and remembers whooping Shane around back in Nashville. At the next Saturday Night Special, it will be Trash & Royal vs. Vic & Shane!

Eric Locker (w/Josh Ashcraft & Big Jon) defeated Karl "the Catch" Cunningham. Cunningham came out wearing an ELITE Tag Team Title (from Elite Canadian Championship Wrestling) and made a good showing with some quickness and interesting moves. He got caught, though, and in an impressive showing of strength, jumped on Locker's shoulders, where Locker caught him, flipped him around in the air, and hit the german suplex off his shoulders for the 3.

OVW TELEVISION TITLE: Adam Revolver (c) defeats "Wrestling's Rockstar" Ryan Howe. Both men attacked each other's knees and worked them over. Revolver tried to hit Howe's knee against the steel ringpost on the outside, but Howe kicked him off into the barricade, where a fan poured their drink on Revolver. Back inside, Revolver is able to lock in the figure four, but Howe reverses. Revolver gets out and goes to grab his title. Jessie Belle runs out and grabs the title and has a tug of war on the apron with Revolver. Howe gets back up and goes after Revolver, but Revolver moves at the last minute, and Howe runs into Jessie Belle, knocking her off the apron. Revolver rolls him up with a handful of tights for the 3.

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

OVW Southern Tag Team Champions "The War Machine": Eric Locker & Big Jon (w/Josh Ashcraft) defeated Adam Wylde & the Assassin. Wylde was worked over most of the match. At the end, Josh slapped Assassin and had him chase him into a shot on the outside from Locker. Inside, Jon hits the big chokeslam on Wylde for the 3.
Josh wanted to make sure I got this for the blog.

Here's a picture I took with Megan, who will be a future ring announcer with OVW.

As always, thanks for reading!

  1. Is Shannon the Dude leaving?

    1. Not that I'm aware of. He actually pulled double duty last night as ring announcer and commentator. When Megan begins, she will probably start out doing house shows and dark matches until she's comfortable. There was a time before when OVW used 2 ring announcers with Ron Hed & Brittany Devore.

  2. I can't believe how Gilbert and Shannon the dude badmouthed Randy RoyaI on TV. Randy has been in this business a long time, and has made mistakes, just like any other wrestler in the locker room. They have the right to their opinion, but they shouldn't be so quick to judge. I would have expected better from Gilbert.

    1. They did mention after they said he no-showed again, that it probably had something to do with King Shane & Vic the Bruiser keeping him from getting to the arena. It does make sense that he is being questioned after 2 consecutive no-shows. If he doesn't show up for the next Special, then you have to wonder if there is something more to his situation.

  3. Do Rev. Stewie and Jake Glasure know how funny they looked running from Jade.

    1. While Jade has "seen the light" and quickly become a fan favorite, it does make Glasure look weak. When Glasure was facing the current champion, Eddie Diamond, in past weeks, and the Mexicutioner this week, he had some really good showings. If it was just Stu running, it wouldn't be so bad.
