OVW TV #865: "Howe Gets Rocked"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, March 16, 2016. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 10PM, and online on Monday at www.ovwrestling.com/tv. In this episode, Ryan Howe defends the OVW Heavyweight Title against Tyler Matrix, Big Jon defends the OVW Television Title against Rump Thump, plus much more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

TRIPLE THREAT for #1 CONTENDERSHIP to the OVW TELEVISION TITLE:
"Primetime" Robbie Walker defeats "The Party Starter" Bud Dwight & Tony Gunn. Walker lets Gunn & Dwight fight it out to start the match, then picks his opportunities to try and take advantage. Late in the match, Dwight goes to clothesline Walker, but gets Gunn when Walker ducks. Walker grabs Dwight and throws him out, then rolls Gunn up with a handful of tights for the victory.

Daniel Eads defeats The Assassin by DQ. Eads was on top, just hitting a flying elbow off the top rope from the apron, but Mitch Huff runs out and attacks him.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on WBNA ion-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 11AM and 10PM (check local listings) and on OVW's official website Mondays at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.

Gilbert Corsey, Shannon the Dude, & Ron Hed are on commentary, and Ron is also the ring announcer.

OVW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE: "Wrestling's Rockstar" Ryan Howe (c) defeats Tyler Matrix in a very good match. Howe hurt his knee halfway through the match, but fought through it. Matrix is on top and goes for the senton bomb, but Howe moves. Howe limps up to the top rope and connects with the Chart Topper for the 3.
Howe & Matrix hug and shake hands, but Devin Driscoll (with Casey Reeves & Josh Ashcraft) runs out and blasts them from behind. Josh hits Matrix with a kendo stick and knocks him from the ring, as Driscoll blasts Howe with the title belt. Josh & Reeves pick Howe up, and Driscoll connects with the Cutter. Josh tells Howe to shine the belt up real good, because it will soon be theirs.

"The Show Stealer" Rocco Bellagio defeats Houdini by KO. Houdini should have done a disappearing act. He tries to throw some blows at Rocco and deliver some stunners, but Rocco hits him with a powerslam and 3 plunges. Houdini can't continue, and Rocco says and motions that he wants another title shot.

"The Ladies' Man" Leon Shelly & Ravishing Ronnie defeat "The Van Zandt Family Circus": Ringmaster & Dapper Dan Van Zandt (w/Little Damian) by DQ. Ringmaster & Ronnie are fighting on the outside, and inside, Dapper Dan & Leon are fighting over the whip. Scarlet returns and gets in the ring.
She pulls the whip away, but then low blows Leon!

Trevor Steele defeats Eddie Knox after hitting a huge spinebuster for the 3.

OVW TELEVISION TITLE: Big Jon (c) defeats Rump Thump after hitting the chokeslam.

"Bad Boy" Shane Andrews (w/"Double R Superstar" Randy Royal & OVW Women's Champion Jessie Belle) defeats Adam Revolver (w/Rev. Stu Miles). Revolver hits his finisher on Shane, but the ref is distracted by Stu & Royal fighting on the outside. Jessie Belle throws a chain to Shane while Adam tries to get the ref. Adam turns around and gets clocked, and Shane picks up the 3.
After the match, Royal & Shane attack Stu as he is checking on Adam, and they pull off Stu's neckbrace and grab some chairs. Before they can do anything, Adam gets back in with a chair and runs them off.

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

During intermission, Gilbert Corsey announces a huge match for the April 2nd Saturday Night Special. He says Pope begged Dean Hill to reinstate Marcus Anthony. At the Special, Pope will get to face a reinstated Marcus Anthony...in the 15-foot high steel cage!

"The Van Zandt Family Circus": Ringmaster & Dapper Dan Van Zandt (w/Scarlet & Little Damian) defeats "Top Flight": Bo Reed & Nicky Michaels after hitting their double-team spinning powerbomb and flying elbow combination finish.

As always, thanks for reading!

  1. Rocco is under-appreciated by the bookers. He should be on a major roster and I believe the sky is the limit for this big man. OVW should give him a major push because he is definitely tomorrow's Superstar !

  2. Still a shame OVW hardly cares for their womens division. You can only have so many matches and title changed between Jessie and Maria. They really need to look at using more women, even if they have to look for women outside of Ohio.

Start using Scarlet and that Nutty Nancy they have on their roster page, use Hayley Shadows and Lexi Green who appeared in the past, anyone would be fine so long as they do more so them. Since as of right now, it seems pointless of them to even bring back the Womens Title.
