OVW TV #871: "Gaining a Step Up"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, April 27, 2016. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 10PM, and online on Monday at www.ovwrestling.com/tv. In this episode, we have 4 qualifying matches for an OVW TV Title Tournament to be held at the May 14 Saturday Night Special featuring Adam Revolver vs. Robbie Walker, Bud Dwight vs. Shane Andrews, Trevor Steele vs. Dapper Dan Van Zandt, Stephon Smith vs. Billy O, Big Jon faces Rocco Bellagio & Daniel Eads in a handicap match, plus much more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

Tony Gunn defeats Justin Smooth.
A back and forth match. Gunn goes for the sharpshooter, but Smooth kicks him off. Smooth goes for a slam, but Gunn slides out and connects with the reverse DDT for the 3.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on WBNA ion-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 11AM and 10PM (check local listings) and on OVW's official website Mondays at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.

Gilbert Corsey, Shannon the Dude, & Ron Hed are on commentary, and Ron is also the ring announcer.

OVW TV TITLE QUALIFIER: "Primetime" Robbie Walker defeats Adam Revolver (w/Rev. Stu Miles). Revolver is in control and setting up for the Russian leg sweep finisher when The Bad Boys Club comes to ringside which distracts Stu & Adam both. Walker takes advantage by reversing into crossroads for the 3.

OVW TV TITLE QUALIFIER: Stephon Smith defeats Billy O. Billy is rallying and throws Stephon in the corner. He goes to splash him, but Stephon pulls referee Joe Wheeler in front of him. Stephon pokes Billy in the eye and then goes up on the ropes and connects with a flying rump thump for the 3.

All of a suddenDaniel Eads, Rocco Bellagio, & Josh Ashcraft emerge through the curtain attacking Mitch Huff. He is thrown into the announce table. He tries to fight back, but runs into a big boot from Rocco.
Rocco & Eads use a chair, and Rocco hits the chair on Mitch's leg across the steel steps. Dean Hill comes out and runs them off as officials check on Huff, who is helped to the back on one foot.

OVW TV TITLE QUALIFIER: Trevor Steele defeats Dapper Dan Van Zandt (w/Ringmaster, Little Damion, & Scarlet). The Circus tries to interfere, but Steele takes out Damion & Ringmaster, and is still able to lock Dapper Dan in the crossface chicken wing for the tapout.

OVW TV TITLE QUALIFIER: "The Party Starter" Bud Dwight defeats "Bad Boy" Shane Andrews (w/Randy Royal & Jessie Belle). Jessie & Royal are thrown out after trying to interfere. Shane was in control, but Dwight came back with a high knee and goes for the Hangover. Shane slides off and tries to roll Dwight up, but Dwight rolls through and has Shane rolled up for the 3. After the match, Royal runs back out and attacks Dwight and they try to put the noose on Dwight.
The Tag Buddies run out and make the save, and Adam Revolver challenges them for the OVW Southern Tag Team Titles at the May 14 SNS. Adam promises they will give them the butt whooping they deserve.

"The Show Stealer" Rocco Bellagio & "The Man of Tomorrow" Daniel Eads (w/Josh Ashcraft) defeat Big Jon.
Eads & Rocco control most of the match by double-teaming and using interference from Josh. Big Jon tries to come back and chokeslam Rocco, but Eads hits a superman punch to Jon, and Rocco then hits a dazed Jon with the Plunge for the 3.

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

Jessie Belle (w/Shane Andrews) defeats Maria James in a 4-corners match where they were tied together at the wrists and had to touch all 4 corners in succession to win. Maria is hitting all 4 corners, but Jessie is also hitting them behind her. Before the 4th corner, Shane distracts the referee, and Maria hits the 4th corner. The ref doesn't see it, and when she turns around, Jessie hits the 4th corner and declares her the winner.

BATTLE ROYAL:
ORDER of ENTRY: Ringmaster, Tyler Matrix, Little Damion, Mickey Muscles, Houdini, Brother Reed, Rev. Stu Miles, & the Assassin.
The Assassin does most of the eliminating and is in the final three with Ringmaster & Damion of the Circus. He takes both of them out and gets the win.

As always, thanks for reading!
