OVW TV #879: "Anarchy"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, June 22, 2016. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 10PM, and online on Monday at www.ovwrestling.com/tv. In this episode, Tony Gunn defends the TV Title against Trevor Steele, we get an update on the condition of Big Jon, Dean Hill makes a huge announcement, plus more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

"The Party Starter" Bud Dwight defeats Little Damion (w/OVW Women's Champion Scarlet). Dwight takes Damion down with shoulder blocks, then locks in an armbar. Scarlet gets on the apron, which allows Damion to come up behind Dwight, bite him, rake his eyes, and take out his knee. He misses a knee drop. Dwight takes out Damion's legs from under him a few times, then connects with the Hangover for 3.

Brother Reed comes out and says the fans have been amazing, and last week he got his butt kicked by Big Zo. He has a lot of heart and soul, though, and he will show that as he faces Zo again tonight.
Big Zo defeats Brother Reed. Reed tries to go after Zo, but gets caught up in the ropes. Zo hits him on the outside, rams him into the apron, then rams him into the ringpost. Back inside, Zo hits a big slam, big legdrop, then the powerbomb for 3.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on WBNA ion-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 11AM and 10PM (check local listings) and on OVW's official website Mondays at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.

Gilbert Corsey & Shannon the Dude are on commentary, and Torey Payne is the ring announcer.

Dean Hill comes out. He says things have been going crazy, so there are 2 things he can do. Either rule with an iron fist, or go with the flow. He has decided to go with the flow. If things are going to dissolve into anarchy, there will be anarchy at the next SNS. He says he talked with the board and the Kentucky Wrestling Commission and the only way to do this, is for the entire night to be unsanctioned. That means every match will have a stipulation. First, he saw what happened in E-Town. Jessie Belle defied him and interfered. He was planning on stripping the Bad Boys Club of the Southern Tag Team Titles tonight, but the Tag Buddies approached him as soon as he got to the building. They don't want to win the titles by having them handed to them or winning them in a tournament, they want to beat the Bad Boys for them. So tonight, they will have a tag team title dog collar match!
Stephon Smith comes out and calls Dean a hot piece of Kentucky garbage and says things have been nuclear around here since he took over. He says there is an overgrown cockroach around here known as Rudy Switchblade, that has been in his business and costing him title shots.
Rudy comes out and says Stephon called him out and then everytime he goes to meet him face-to-face, he runs. He wants a match where he can't run. The fans chant for a lumberjack match, and Dean says you want it, you got it. Rudy & Stephon will face off in a lumberjack match, but he will do one better, the winner will be the #1 contender for the OVW Heavyweight Title at the August SNS.
Rocco Bellagio then comes out and says if there will be anarchy at SNS, he wants to know what type of match he will be defending his title in. Mitch Huff is then out. He says he will put the Athlete's Foot into the big mouth of Rocco and become the next champion. Dean has an idea. He says Huff & Rocco can pick the stipulation of their match. What they will do tonight, is Huff will team with Rudy, and Rocco will team with Stephon. The winning team will get to pick the stipulation, and that match starts now!
"The Chosen One" Mitch Huff & Rudy Switchblade defeat Stephon Smith & "The Show Stealer" Rocco Bellagio. Stephon seeing Rudy across the ring, runs and tags Rocco. Rocco & Rudy lock up, but Rudy rolls through and tags Huff. Rocco & Stephon work over Huff until a tag to Rudy, who elbows Stephon in the head and missile dropkicks him into the corner. He kicks Rocco in the head off the apron. Stephon comes up and tries a rollup for 2. Rudy chases him out of and around the ring, but Stephon leads him into a massive uppercut from Rocco. Back inside, Rudy is able to get a hot tag to Huff. He knocks Rocco off the apron and takes Stephon down. He hits a flying elbow drop, but Rocco breaks the count. Huff gets knocked out of the ring as Rudy comes in and hits a kick to Rocco's head off the ropes. He knocks Stephon out of the ring, but turns around into a Plunge from Rocco. Huff is back in and goes for the Athlete's Foot. Rocco catches his foot, but Huff hits a neckbreaker drop. Stephon is back in and misses a thump, and Huff connects with the Athlete's Foot for 3.
After the match, Huff tells Rocco he wants a match with no countouts, no DQ's, the only way to win will be by pinfall. He says it can happen anywhere in the Davis Arena. It will be Falls Count Anywhere!

"Primetime" Robbie Walker defeats Houdini. Robbie controls early, but misses a knee drop. He then misses some splashes in the corner, and Houdini connects with a spear for 2. He hits a stunner, then goes for a 2nd, but Robbie reverses it into crossroads for the 3.

Big Jon comes out and thanks everyone for their support. He says he is a triple crown champion, so a little blood doesn't hurt, and he doesn't need no doctor's note to compete at the next SNS. He's ready to fight, and it's unsanctioned anyway. He will face Justin Smooth once again, but this time it will be a stretcher match!

Tony Gunn comes out and says he is the OVW Television Champion, the master of the YTO, and he is the best wrestler here. He gets ready to say something about Bud Dwight interfering, but is interrupted by Trevor Steele's music...
OVW TELEVISION TITLE: "Shotgun" Tony Gunn (c) vs. Trevor Steele never gets started. As Steele goes to enter the ring, he is attacked from behind by Big Zo with Josh Ashcraft. Zo powerbombs him in the ring, then goes to the outside where he slams him on the floor. He runs Steele into the side of the ring. Tyler Matrix & Houdini come out, but Zo takes them both down, and leaves a hole in the barricade after throwing Matrix into it. He is about to powerbomb Steele on the exposed concrete when Dean Hill runs out and demands he stop. Josh yells out that the "Legacy of Brutality" has begun.

OVW SOUTHERN TAG TEAM TITLE DOG COLLAR MATCH: "The Tag Buddies": Adam Revolver & "The Pastor of Disaster" Rev. Stu Miles defeat "The Bad Boys Club": "Bad Boy" Shane Andrews & "The Double R Superstar" Randy Royal (c) (w/Jessie Belle). Stu was chained to Royal and Shane was chained to Adam. A lot of slinging the other man around by the chains. Midway through, AJ Lucio gets squashed between the Tag Buddies. The Bad Boys unclip themselves and tie Adam up around the ringpost. Jessie tries to hold it as they double-team Stu, but Adam breaks free. The Buddies are on a roll until Jessie gets on the apron. The Bad Boys pull the chain up between their legs. They are hitting the Buddies in opposite corners, but the Buddies come back again. Stu takes Royal down with a DDT, and they catch Shane off the ropes with a double flapjack for the 3.
We have new OVW Southern Tag Team Champions!

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

"The Young Lion" Tyler Matrix (w/Torey Payne) defeats Dapper Dan Van Zandt (w/OVW Women's Champion Scarlet). Dapper takes Matrix down and works over his knee. He locks in a headlock, but Matrix throws him off the ropes and hits a dropkick. He locks in a side headlock. Dapper reverses into a headscissors. Matrix reverses and locks in an armbar. Dapper gets out and locks in a headlock again. Matrix gets out and hits a dropkick, arm drag, and another dropkick. Dapper rolls out and Matrix hits a flying forearm off the apron. Back inside, Dapper takes Matrix's legs out and works overt he knee some more. He hits Matrix knee off the ringpost and locks in a submission. Dapper can't put him away and takes off a turnbuckle pad. AJ Lucio goes to put it back on, and Scarlet gives Dapper her title. Dapper swings it at Matrix, who ducks and hits a pele kick. He goes out and goes for the Drive-By, but Dapper grabs his leg and locks in an ankle lock. Matrix gets out, kicking Dapper in the head. He goes up top and hits the senton bomb for the 3.

As always, thanks for reading!

  1. It's so sad to see how Dean has torn OVW to pieces. I really don't look for it to last much longer.
