OVWmania Visits the Gunn Show!

Hey OVW fans! After a crazy start to 2019, I wanted to talk to a superstar who has been in the middle of it all, as well as promote the upcoming OVW/IMPACT One Night Only Supershow: "Clash in the Bluegrass". I was able to secure an interview with the current OVW Heavyweight Champion, Tony Gunn!

Brian Cannon: Hi Tony, thanks for the interview. Let's start off by talking about everything that has happened in your career over the last few months. You went from Nightmare Rumble winner to defeating Abyss, becoming Heavyweight Champion, and then being harassed by IMPACT’s oVe...can you describe the journey?
Tony Gunn: Becoming the #1 contender by winning the Nightmare Rumble was an awesome moment. Getting the match with Abyss & being able to conquer the monster was a true test. Winning the OVW Heavyweight Title was honestly a dream come true.

BC: What’s it like having a target on your back as the top guy?
TG: Being at the top there's always a target on your back. For me, I welcome that, I welcome all talent in the OVW locker room & anyone outside of OVW as well. This includes Sami Callihan of oVe.

BC: Speaking of oVe & Sami Callihan, they disrupted you in the ring, and then Sami spit in your face. Why do you think he did that? Does he want a ticket to the Gunn Show and the OVW Heavyweight Title? Would you like the opportunity to face him 1-on-1, possibly at the Clash in the Bluegrass supershow on March 2?
TG: Spitting in someone's face is honestly one of the most disrespectful things you can do to anyone. Why he did it? Maybe it's because I struck a nerve when I popped off the statement of him accidentally crushing another man's eye socket with a baseball bat, but if he is going to try and hijack the show then he needs to know things like that will happen when it's me out there. I would most definitely accept the opportunity to put him in his place, if it comes to that. Only time will tell.

BC: After so many years in the business, you made it to the top of the mountain in OVW. What do you think the biggest difference has been? What do you have to say to anyone “gunning” for you and the championship?
TG: You only become successful when you set goals and believe in yourself. In this line of work nothing is ever handed to you. You have to bust your butt and be willing to go the extra mile to rise above everyone else. The support from fans, friends, and family is a blessing, but at the end of the day it's all up to you to succeed. What really matters is your own dedication and also being able to understand that you can't succeed while making everyone happy in the process. When I learned that, it opened my mind to thinking differently and I haven't looked back. Anyone out there that wishes to step in front of me, well all I can say is "Welcome To The Gunn Show" and hope you enjoy the short time you have on the show!

The OVW Heavyweight Champion is ready for anyone! Will he get a chance to prove why he is the OVW Heavyweight Champion and to prove what OVW is all about when IMPACT comes in on March 2? Will he get the chance to even the score with Sami Callihan and oVe? Stay tuned, because this is going to be a wild ride!
