OVW TV #838: "Steele-ing the Show"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, September 9, 2015. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 10PM, and online on Monday at www.ovwrestling.com/tv. In this episode, Wylde & Reckless defend the Southern Tag Titles against Big Jon & Mitch Huff, Chris Silvio & Rocco Bellagio remember the life of Eddie Diamond, Devin Driscoll is set to defend the TV Title against Jade Dawson, plus more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

"The Ladies' Man" Leon Shelly defeats Wes Connors with the flying body press.

Trevor Steele (w/Josh Ashcraft) defeats Elvis Pridemoore with the pumphandle slam.
After the match, Elvis takes out his frustrations on a rubber trash can.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on WBNA ion-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 11AM and 10PM (check local listings) and on OVW's official website Mondays at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.

Gilbert Corsey & Timmy Danger are on commentary, and Ron Hed is the ring announcer.

"Bad Boy" Shane Andrews (w/Jessie Belle) defeats Dre Blitz after a kick to the head and a frog splash.
After the match, Jessie Belle wants to formally introduce the man who can really get the job done, "Bad Boy" Shane Andrews. He is much better than Ryan Howe ever was. She hopes Howe is watching and plants a big kiss on Andrews. Howe appears on screen and says Shane is doing what half of the locker room already has. He then says he has enough money to make these videos and buy TV time every week, so he has enough to post bail. He might just show up next week.

Eric Locker defeats Rump Thump after hitting a t-bone suplex.
After the match, Josh Ashcraft sneaks out and throws powder in Locker's eyes, and Trevor Steele hits Locker with a pumphandle slam.

OVW TELEVISION TITLE: Jade Dawson vs. Devin Driscoll (c).
Before the match, Driscoll thanks the fans for their support and messages of congratulations on Facebook & Twitter. He then says that Chris Silvio needs to be ready, because he plans on walking out of the next Saturday Night Special with both the TV Title and Heavyweight Title. Randy Royal's music hits and he says before we go another further, he has some footage to show. (Footage from SNS shows where Shane Andrews comes out and interferes, and referee AJ calls for the bell). Royal asks AJ if he called for the bell. AJ says yes. Randy says he should rightfully still be champion, and AJ says yes. Dean Hill comes out and says in his OVW, he said he would make sure his referees had a voice, and if AJ agrees, then Randy Royal is still OVW TV Champion. He says Jade won a battle royal and deserves a shot, and Driscoll won his match, so he deserves a shot. He tells Royal that there is a triple threat match in his future, and the future is right now!

OVW TELEVISION TITLE: Jade Dawson vs. Devin Driscoll vs. "Double R Superstar" Randy Royal (c).
Jade is temporarily out of the equation as Driscoll goes to town on Royal and connects with a spinebuster and spear. Shane Andrews comes out and Driscoll goes after him and chops him on the outside. Inside, Jade tries several roll-ups and pins, but Royal kicks out. Royal kicks Jade and hits the Royal Treatment for the 3 as Driscoll tries to run back and stop the pin.
Chris Silvio comes out with Rocco Bellagio and they have a picture of Eddie Diamond after his fall from the rafters at SNS. Rocco says Eddie had it all, but had a great fall. Silvio then says we will never ever ever ever see Eddie again. They continue to bash Eddie, which brings out Eddie's former partner, Bud Dwight. Dwight says that Eddie is the only one who texted him while he was out of action for the last 9 months and is not just a friend, he's like a brother, and you don't mess with family! Silvio asks if he wants a piece of him, and we have an impromptu match!
"Ultra Violent" Chris Silvio (w/Rocco Bellagio) defeats "Party Starter" Bud Dwight. Dwight came in on fire, but got caught with a cutter off the ropes. Dwight kicks out and rallies again, but as he goes up top and jumps off, Silvio jumps up and connects with the rocket punch in mid-air for the 3.
After the match, Rocco & Silvio get a chair and wrap Dwight's arm in it. Silvio jumps off the ropes and stomps the chair and Dwight is in severe pain.

Dapper Dan Van Zandt (w/The Ringmaster & Scarlet) defeats Tyler Matrix.
During the match, Leon Shelly brings a letter out to Scarlet. This temporarily distracts Dan and Matrix hits some dropkicks. He goes off the ropes, but Dan catches him and hits the spinning sit-out powerbomb. Dan gets the 3, then goes outside and grabs the letter away from Scarlet and rips it up.
"The Pope" Elijah Burke comes out with Marcus Anthony. He says that he came to make an announcement previously, but got disrespected by the locker room. He came to say that he saw something in Marcus Anthony, a monster trapped within, but has taught him how to control that monster. He says from now on, they will be referred to as "General Pope" & "Private Anthony" and be known as "The Band of Brothers". He says starting next week (it would be announced later that they would face the unusual combo of Rev. Stu Miles & Adam Revolver), the locker room is either with them or against them.

Big Jon & "The Chosen One" Mitch Huff defeat OVW Southern Tag Team Champions "Wylde & Reckless": Adam Wylde & Robbie Walker by DQ.
A good back and forth match. Big Jon gets in and is in control, hitting the chokeslam. Trevor Steele is out again with Josh Ashcraft. Steele breaks up the pin, causing the DQ. Josh then throws powder in Jon's eyes, and Steele slams Jon down, leaving him laying.

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

The Assassin defeats Rook in a squash after hitting a powerslam.

Dapper Dan Van Zandt & the Ringmaster (w/Scarlet) defeat Rev. Stu Miles & Adam Revolver.
Adam tries to cheat, but Stu won't allow it. In the end, Stu looks for a tag, but Adam jumps off the apron. Stu still rallies against Ringmaster as Revolver grabs a chair. Stu is distracted and tells Adam he won't use it, as Ringmaster tags in Dan. Stu turns around into a death valley driver from Dan for the 3.

As always, thanks for reading!

  1. okay so I am slightly confused about the TV title does Driscolls reign still count or since the decision was reversed does Royals title reign continue on from when he won it in July??

  2. I'd like to know that too. It would seem to me that Randy never really lost the title, his reign should go back to July. That would be the fair thing to do, but since Dean has been out to get Randy, who knows.

  3. Any news on Eddie Diamond?
