OVW TV #877: "Last Chosen One Standing"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, June 8, 2016. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 10PM, and online on Monday at www.ovwrestling.com/tv. In this episode, Mitch Huff faces Daniel Eads in a last man standing match, Rudy Switchblade vs. Robbie Walker, an SNS rematch between Big Jon and Justin Smooth, plus more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

Ringmaster (w/Dapper Dan Van Zandt, Little Damion, & OVW Women's Champion Scarlet) defeats The Assassin. Ringmaster moves quickly to avoid the grasp of the Assassin. He kicks at the knee, but gets caught off the ropes and Assassin slams him. Scarlet, Dan, & Damion all cause distractions throughout. As Damion distracts the ref, Dan gets in and low blows Assassin. He then delivers the Death Valley Driver, and Ringmaster hits the flying elbow for the 3.

Big Zo defeats Houdini. Zo throws Houdini around like a rag doll. Houdini gets in a couple kicks and attempts a stunner, but it doesn't even faze Zo. Zo hits Houdini with a massive powerbomb for the win.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on WBNA ion-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 11AM and 10PM (check local listings) and on OVW's official website Mondays at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.

Ron Hed & Shannon the Dude are on commentary, and Ron is the ring announcer.

Justin Smooth defeats Big Jon. After they lock up, Jon hits Smooth and clotheslines him. He tries a slam, but the ribs are hurting him again. Smooth knees him in the ribs, works them over, and delivers another knee to the ribs. He throws Jon hard into the corner, shoulders him in the ribs, then throws him hard into the other corner. Smooth hits Jon across the ring apron and gets him on his shoulders for his finisher. Jon gets off, hits Smooth, clotheslines him, and delivers a back body drop. He splashes Smooth in the corner and hits a belly-to-back suplex. He charges Smooth in the corner, but Smooth moves. Jon is able to keep himself from running into the turnbuckle, but turns around into a spear from Smooth. Jon falls to the outside of the ring where referee AJ Lucio calls the match due to internal bleeding.
After the match, Smooth hits Jon into the steel steps, then hits him with a chair.

The Tag Buddies come to the ring for their title match. Shane Andrews comes out with Jessie Belle. He says Randy Royal is still hurt, so there will be no match tonight. Dean Hill comes out and says he is wrong. He promised the fans a title match, and if they have no doctor's excuse, Shane will defend the tag titles tonight in a handicap match.
OVW SOUTHERN TAG TEAM TITLE HANDICAP MATCH: "The Tag Buddies": Adam Revolver & "The Pastor of Disaster" Rev. Stuart Miles defeat "Bad Boy" Shane Andrews (c) (w/Jessie Belle) by DQ. Shane with some early offense and a flying kick to Stu. He locks Stu in a sleeper. Stu breaks out and tags Adam. Adam hits Shane and shoulders him in the corner. Stu tags in and shoulders Shane, and tags Adam. Adam throws Stu shoulder first into Shane in the corner and hits a reverse Russian leg sweep. The Tag Buddies hit the double flapjack to Shane, but Jessie runs in and breaks the count to cause the DQ.
After the match, Dean Hill comes back out and says they don't have enough TV time to restart this tonight, but there will be a rematch in E-Town. If Royal doesn't show up, he will strip them of the titles, and Jessie Belle will be banned from ringside.

Tony Gunn comes out and says "Welcome to the Gunn show!". He says he is "Shotgun" Tony Gunn, and he is the best wrestler here in OVW. He says he is also the master of the YTO, meaning "You'll Tap Out".
OVW TELEVISION TITLE: "Shotgun" Tony Gunn (c) defeats Jade Dawson. Gunn takes Jade down and knocks him to the outside. He suplexes him back in, but Jade kicks out. Jade starts to fire back, hitting a roundhouse kick and goes for the fame-stopper. Gunn blocks it and takes Jade down. He locks in the YTO, and Jade is forced to tap.
After the match, Bud Dwight runs out with a chair and chases Gunn out of the ring. He says Gunn keeps claiming he's the best wrestler here, but he's the biggest coward. He tried to reinjure the shoulder, but he just got back from the doctor today and he is 100%. He wants Gunn and the title back. Gunn says to remember that Dean Hill said he wouldn't get another shot for 30 days. He tells Bud to keep being a chump while he continues being the champ.

Rudy Switchblade defeats "The King of Hairstyle" Robbie Walker. Quick back and forth early, Robbie keeps grabbing ref Jamie Lynne to stay out of harm's way. This allows him to hit Rudy with the side effect. They exchange chops and blows, but Rudy connects with a huge dropkick. He hits his finisher for 3.

Rocco Bellagio comes to ringside and says that no one wants to listen. At SNS, he took all 3 men down to Plungetown. He said tonight's main event is a last man standing where the winner will get a one-way ticket back to Plungetown. He is going to stay out here and get a close view...
#1 CONTENDER LAST MAN STANDING MATCH: "The Chosen One" Mitch Huff defeats "The Man of Tomorrow" Daniel Eads (w/Josh Ashcraft). Huff & Eads exchange blows. Eads shoulders Huff in the corner and goes for the handstand dropkick in the corner, but Huff pushes him off to the outside. He jumps out on Eads, then slingshots Eads into the steel steps. Eads gets back in, and Huff hits him and goes for the Athlete's Foot. Eads catches his foot, but Huff hits him with the neckbreaker drop. Josh pours water on Eads, and Huff chases Josh around the ring and into the ring where Eads has recovered and catches Huff with the Superman punch. He goes for the Weight of the World, but Huff gets out. Eads connects with a huge clothesline. He hits Huff across the ropes and hits a suplex. He jumps in from the apron off the top rope with an elbow drop. Huff is getting up, and Josh hands Eads a chair. Eads hits Huff in the gut with it. Huff gets back up, and Eads hits him again. Huff refuses to stay down, but Josh now hands Eads brass knucks. Eads hits Huff with a loaded Superman punch. Huff still gets up. Josh grabs some handcuffs and tries to handcuff Huff in the corner, but Huff hits him, then knocks him off the apron with the Athlete's Foot. Eads is coming after Huff with the chair, but gets an Athlete's Foot. Eads falls across the top rope, keeping him on his feet. Huff grabs Eads, but Eads low blows him. Eads gets on the apron and jumps off the top rope, but Huff connects with a mid-air Athlete's Foot and Eads can't answer the 10-count. It will be Huff vs. Rocco at the SNS on July 2.

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

Trevor Steele defeats Stephon Smith by countout. A good back and forth match. Stephon is in control, but Steele comes back with a big pumphandle powerslam. Stephon gets his foot on the ropes. Steele goes to lock in the chicken wing, but Stephon rolls out and takes the countout loss.
After the match, Rudy Switchblade grabs Stephon from behind and rolls him back inside for a big boot from Steele. Rudy goes up for a frog splash, but Stephon rolls out and runs to the back again.

As always, thanks for reading!
