OVW TV #858: "Brothaz or Buddies?"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, January 27, 2016. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 10PM, and online on Monday at www.ovwrestling.com/tv. In this episode, the Bad Boys Club is in action, #1 contender Rocco Bellagio faces Mitch Huff, the Band of Brothaz defend the OVW Southern Tag Team Titles against the Tag Buddies, plus more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

"The Real Deal" Trevor Steele defeats "Primetime" Robbie Walker. Steele shoves Walker down easily early with his strength advantage, but Walker takes out Steele's left knee and works it over. Steele kicks Walker away and starts building steam. He goes for the pumphandle slam, but Walker squeaks out and hits an enziguri. It doesn't put Steele away, and Steele fights back again, and this time does hit the pumphandle slam for the 3.

Ravishing Ronnie defeats Leon Shelly. Ronnie attacks Leon as he enters the ring and works over Leon's back for the majority of the contest. Leon comes back with a hook clothesline and hits the flying body press off the top rope, but Ronnie rolls through and grabs Leon's tights for the 3.

Big Jon defeats Eddie Knox after hitting a big chokeslam for the 3.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on WBNA ion-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 11AM and 10PM (check local listings) and on OVW's official website Mondays at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.

Gilbert Corsey, Shannon the Dude & Ron Hed are on commentary, and Ron is also the ring announcer.

"The Bad Boys Club": Shane Andrews & Randy Royal (w/Jessie Belle) defeat "The Party Starter" Bud Dwight & Tyler Matrix. Dwight gets worked over for a bit with some good team work between Royal & Shane. Dwight finally gets the hot tag to Matrix, but as Matrix goes to jump in the ring, his foot slips on the rope and he almost falls on his head. Royal grabs him real quick as Matrix grabs his leg in pain. Royal hits a rolling slam and Shane hits the frog splash for the 3.
(Matrix was legit hurt and OVWmania hopes it turns out to not be too serious. We will keep you updated on his condition when we hear more.)

"The Chosen One" Mitch Huff vs. Rocco Bellagio ends in a no-contest. Ryan Howe was on commentary and had already exchanged words prior to the contest with Rocco. Rocco gets knocked out of the ring during the match and has words with Howe again, and they end up brawling around the announce table and to the back.

"The Heart & Soul of OVW" Rump Thump defeats Ringmaster (w/Dapper Dan Van Zandt & Leon Shelly). Ringmaster controls a large portion of the match, but misses some high risk maneuvers. He charges at Rump, but Rump hits the Thump for the 3. Dan attacks Thump after the match, and hits a double team finisher with Ringmaster. He yelled at Leon to get in the ring and help them, but Leon didn't listen.

Josh Ashcraft comes out with Devin Driscoll. Driscoll is upset about Big Jon still having his OVW Television Title and demands it be returned. Jon appears on screen and he is seen shoving Casey Reeves into a locker. He then says he is on his way out. Dean Hill stops him at ringside and asks him to do the right thing and hand the title back.
Jon gives it to Dean, and Dean hands it back to Driscoll. Josh then runs his mouth, calling Jon an animal and telling him to tuck his tail between his legs and go.
Jon comes back to the ring and Dean says he knows Jon wants the title back, but it needs to be done the right way. Driscoll suddenly tries to sucker punch Jon with the title, but Jon ducks and hits him with a major chokeslam. Jon then takes the TV Title back with him as Dean just shakes his head and throws his arms up in disbelief.

OVW SOUTHERN TAG TEAM TITLES: "The Band of Brothaz": General Pope & Private Anthony (c) defeat "The Tag Buddies": Adam Revolver & Rev. Stu Miles. The match is controlled early on by the Brothaz, as Private Anthony's strength is too much for Adam & Stu. Stu is worked over quite a bit. The Tag Buddies start to build some offense and are in opposite corners. Adam is hitting Pope while Stu is 'healing' Anthony. Pope & Adam go off the ropes and double clothesline each other. Anthony dumps Stu to the outside, then goes out and grabs Pope's ring. He puts it on and decks Adam, and then hits the Brothaz' double team finisher on Adam with Pope for the 3.

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

The Amazing Grace defeats OVW Women's Champion "Bad Girl" Jessie Belle by countout. Jessie was frustrated with Grace's strength, first saying she was a man, and then saying she was on steroids. Jessie took advantage after pulling Grace down and hitting her leg off the side of the ring apron, but Grace reversed a figure four by Jessie and started to retake the advantage, and Jessie just packs her bags and leaves.

OVW Heavyweight Champion "Wrestling's Rockstar" Ryan Howe defeats "The Technical Titan" Eric Locker. This was a great back and forth match with a lot of technical wrestling and several near falls. In the end, Howe finally connects with the Chart Topper to put Locker away for the 3.

As always, thanks for reading!

  1. Great report. I look forward to watching it later. Great to have you back.

  2. I think the ref made the wrong call on the Rocco/Huff match. Instead of declaring a no contest, Rocco should have been counted out and Mitch declared the winner.

  3. Randy Royal is looking in real good shape lately. Plus, him and Shane are working great as a team. I think the Bad Boys Club is tag team title bound.
