OVW TV 1040: Did Storm Blast the Boomstick?

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, July 17, 2019. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 9PM, and on the OVW Network. In this episode, the new #1 contender Corey Storm faces off against Jay Bradley, Dustin Jackson meets Randall Floyd 1-on-1, plus more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

Dimes defeat Joshua O'Hagan. Quick exchanges early. Dimes hits O'Hagan with a suplex, then rolls through into a second. He goes to grab O'Hagan, but gets pulled into the turnbuckle. Off the ropes, Dimes dropkicks the leg out from under O'Hagan and hits a neckbreaker off his knee. He finishes him off with a rolling Change Maker for the 3.

Jessie Belle defeats Cali Young. Jessie locks up with Cali. Off the ropes they run, but Jessie sits down and Cali continues running back and forth off the ropes. She runs out of breath and needs a timeout. She comes back and works over the leg of Jessie, stomping it and jumping on it. Jessie fires back with some hard clotheslines and locks in an arm submission that forces Cali to tap. Cali attacks her after the match, taking out the bad leg, then stomping on her.

Ca$h Flo & "Hood Ninja" Hy Zaya defeat "The Vet Express": "The Veteran" Apollo & "Rudo" Raul LaMotta. The ref checks the Vet Express and pulls out several pairs of brass knucks and chains. Ca$h & Hy attack them and Hy drop toeholds Raul. Ca$h splashes him across the back. They hit he shoulder of Raul and continue to work him over. He goes to tag, but Hy pulls Apollo off the apron. Hy gets in and throws Raul into a charging Ca$h, who bulldozes Raul down for the 3.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 11AM and 9PM (check local listings) and on OVW's official website Mondays at OVW TV.

Gilbert Corsey, Josh Ashcraft, & Dr. Ted McNaler are on commentary, and Mercy Keller & Brittany Devore are the ring announcers.

"The Great" Dustin Jackson vs. "The Real Deal" Randall Floyd. They lock up and clean break. Another lock up, another clean break. Floyd with a side headlock. Off the ropes, Floyd with a shoulder block. Off the ropes again, Dustin with a shoulder block of his own. Dustin now with a side headlock. Off the ropes, Floyd with an arm drag. Dustin back with an arm drag. Side headlock takedown for 2 by Floyd. Dustin back with a dropkick. He forearms him and goes up top. He misses a missile dropkick. Floyd pins for 2. He locks in a sleeper. Dustin works up, and they exchange blows in the middle of the ring. Off the ropes, Floyd catches Dustin with a belly-to-belly toss. He takes Dustin down to the mat and locks in another submission. Dustin works up and hits an enziguri. Floyd drops him and tries to lock in the modified Boston crab. He turns him over enough to apply some pressure, but Dustin rolls through into a small package for 2. Dustin then locks in a Boston crab of his own. Floyd reaches the ropes for the break. Dustin sends Floyd off the ropes and goes for a hip toss, but Floyd reverses into an abdominal stretch. Dustin elbows out and takes Floyd down. He splashes him in the corner twice, then hits a Michinoku Driver. He goes up top and hits the missile dropkick. Floyd kicks out at 2. Brittany announces there is 1 minute left. Floyd rolls Dustin up for 2. Dustin with a pin attempt for 2. 30 seconds left. Floyd hits the Deal Breaker on Dustin with 10 seconds left. He crawls over and rolls Dustin over, but time expires before the ref can make the pin.

"Category 5" Corey Storm comes out and grabs a mic. He says what a week it was defeating 3 men to become the new #1 contender for the OVW Heavyweight Title. He says what wasn't good was the way Justin Smooth talked down to him like he was some punk kid. Storm says he proved that he is the best professional wrestler in the world today. August 3, Smooth isn't stepping into the ring with some punk kid, he's stepping in with "Category 5" Corey Storm. Tonight, Smooth paid Jay Bradley...Jay interrupts him. He says Storm is a punk kid and he doesn't need anyone to pay him, he does business for himself. Tonight he's going to pin his shoulders to the mat and become the new #1 contender. He will show him that you earn things around here, and in pro wrestling.

TELEVISION TITLE GAUNTLET:
William Lutz (c) defeats Ashton Cove. Lutz tells Cove he should just lay down. They start shoving. Cove charges at him in the corner, but Lutz moves and Cove knocks himself out on the ringpost. Lutz gets the 3.
William Lutz (c) defeats Maximus Khan. Khan takes it to Lutz, slamming him twice and hitting a back body drop. He delivers a spinebuster as Ca$h Flo & Hy Zaya come out. Khan flies out onto them, but they recover and beat him down at ringside. Khan gets counted out.
William Lutz (c) defeats Drew Hernandez. Drew goes after Lutz and throat thrusts him. He tries to choke him with his wrist tape. The ref takes it away and Drew takes the opportunity to toss Lutz over the top rope while the ref's back is turned. Lutz gets in at 9. Drew clubs him, but Lutz hits a chinbuster. Drew plows him back down and goes to choke him with his bandana. The ref sees Drew this time as he tosses Lutz over the top rope for the DQ.
William Lutz (c) defeats KTD. KTD rolls Lutz in the ring and tries to pin for 2. He tries twice more, but Lutz still kicks out. A small package, another roll up, but Lutz still kicks out. He goes up top, but a woozy Lutz falls into the ref, knocking KTD off the top rope. Lutz covers for the 3.

"Category 5" Corey Storm defeats Jay Bradley. Jay locks up with Storm into the corner and shoves him. Storm shoves back, but Jay clotheslines him. Storm comes back with a headscissor takedown and a kick, but Jay clubs him back down. He chops him repeatedly in the corner, then delivers a kick to the face in the corner. He clubs him some more and takes Storm out of the ring. He goes out and slings Storm into the ringpost. He delivers a chokeslam and pulls Storm up at 2. Nigel dives out on all of them. Back inside, Nigel dropkicks D and hits Shiloh on the apron. He goes off the ropes, but Shiloh pulls the rope down and Nigel flies out. They work Nigel over for a bit. He gets the hot tag to Chace, who fires away on Shiloh. D gets in and they try to double suplex Chace, but Nigel comes back in to even things up.
