OVW TV #786: "Tapouts & Knockouts"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, September 10, 2014. This episode can be seen online starting tomorrow at www.ovwrestling.com/tv. In this episode, Titus Enterprises wants titles back and rematches, 1/2 of the new OVW Southern Tag Team Champions Eric Locker is in action, the Wild Boyz are in tag action, plus more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

The Bodyguy vs. OVW Heavyweight Champion "Mister Marvelous" Melvin Maximus.
Melvin clotheslines, slams, and shoulder blocks Bodyguy. Bodyguy rolls under the ropes and as Melvin goes to grab him, Bodyguy pulls his arm across the top rope. Bodyguy works over the arm and shoulder of Melvin. He throws Melvin shoulder first into the corner. Melvin reverses another throw attempt and clotheslines Bodyguy in the corner. He hits Bodyguy's head off various turnbuckles and locks in the Bearhug. Bodyguy pokes Melvin in the eye and rolls him up with his feet on the ropes for 2. Melvin gets back up and locks the Bearhug back in, and Bodyguy taps.
WINNER: MELVIN by submission.

"The Congregation": "Altar Boy" Jade Dawson & "Apostle" Jake Glasure (w/"Pastor of Disaster" Rev. Stuart Miles) vs. "TerreMex": Randy Terrez & the Mexicutioner.
TerreMex takes it to Jade early. Terrez hits Jade with a brainbuster, but the ref is distracted by Miles on the apron. Glasure hits Terrez from behind and Terrez is double-teamed. Terrez is worked over until he can tag Mex. Mex clotheslines Jade and hits Glasure with a huge spinebuster. He tags Terrez and they hit La Chancla on Jade for the 3.
WINNERS: TERREMEX by pinfall.

Leon Shelly (w/Deonta Davis) vs. Jamin Olivencia.
Leon attacks Jamin and goes to throw him off the ropes, but Jamin reverses and hits a dropkick. He hits the running high knee on Leon in the corner, followed by the jumping clothesline. He goes up top and hits the jumping reverse splash for the 3.
WINNER: JAMIN by pinfall.
After the match, Deonta gets in the ring and spins Jamin around. Jamin hits him with the Standing O and has the ref count to 3 again.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on OVW's official website late Thursday afternoon/evening at www.ovwrestling.com/tv and on WBNA ion-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 9AM and 10PM (check local listings).

Terry Boddie & Gilbert Corsey are on commentary, and Terry is also the ring announcer.

Titus Enterprises (Michael Titus, Adam Revolver, & Marcus Anthony) come out with Josh Ashcraft. They show footage from the Saturday Night Special where Michael Hayes had Revolver in the Liberty Lock, and it appears Adam's foot slid under the rope during the maneuver. Josh says he missed it, but being a fair and honest referee, has to reverse the decision and give the title back to Revolver.
This brings out Michael Hayes. He says he isn't giving this title to away. He tells Adam that he's a fighting champion and will defend it against him again tonight. Hayes starts to get surrounded by Marcus & Adam when Melvin Maximus' music hits.
Melvin comes out and says they should give them a "marvelous" beatdown. Titus says he is glad Melvin joined them, because Marcus Anthony deserves another shot at the OVW Heavyweight Title.
Cliff Compton makes his way out and has something to say about that. He says that he wants a shot at the OVW Heavyweight Title as well, and Titus says that he told him last week that he's old and washed up. Cliff & Marcus butt heads and have to be separated by the other participants in the ring and Danny Davis who has made his way out.
Danny says that Marcus lost and doesn't get a rematch. He tells Cliff that he loves him, but he has to compete for a shot as well. So next week, we will have Cliff Compton vs. Marcus Anthony, and the winner will face Melvin at the October SNS. He then says the TV main event will be for the TV Title between Michael Hayes & Adam Revolver one last time. He tells Michael to make sure that Adam taps out again. He also looks at Josh and calls him a dumb@$$, and says that the referee for that match will be Timmy Danger!

Vaughn Lilas vs. "Primetime" Robbie Walker.
Lilas takes it to Robbie, chopping him, rubbing his face across the top rope, and choking him. He lands some loud and brutal chops. Off the ropes, Robbie flips over Lilas, and connects with the Cosmic Kick out of nowhere for the 3.
WINNER: WALKER by pinfall.
I think you can say Robbie won the battle, but lost the war.

Backstage, Gilbert Corsey interviews Mary Jane, but gets interrupted by Chris Silvio. Silvio says he has had it up to here with her, and she says he just doesn't get it.

Jason "The Man" Lee vs. "Wrestling's Rockstar" Ryan Howe.
Howe comes out firing away, and tries to pin Lee, but Lee kicks out and sends Howe face first into the turnbuckle. Lee works over Howe and goes for a senton off the second rope, but Howe moves. Howe hits a dropkick and a Russian leg sweep for 2. Howe jumps up off the top rope and hits a reverse cross body, but Lee rolls through and grabs a handful of tights for the 3.
WINNER: LEE by pinfall.

Joey Bayless & Dapper Dan vs. "The Wild Boyz": Eddie F. Diamond & "Party Starter" Bud Dwight.
The Wild Boyz take it to Bayless, working over his arm, splashing him in the corner, and hitting their double team finisher for a quick 3.
WINNERS: WILD BOYZ by pinfall.
Dapper Dan yells at Bayless that he should have tagged him. He shakes Bayless' hand, but pulls him back and hits a huge german suplex on him.

OVW Southern Tag Team Champion Eric Locker (w/Shiloh Jonze) vs. Buddy Wayne.
Wayne gets in some high risk offense, jumping all over Locker, but in the end, Locker catches him and hits a german suplex for the 3.
WINNER: LOCKER by pinfall.

Backstage, Jamin Olivencia congratulates Michael Hayes on his victory and being TV Champion. Michael says he wishes he could say the same for Jamin. Jamin says he hasn't seen Chris (Silvio), and that's probably a good thing right now.

OVW TV TITLE MATCH (SPECIAL REFEREE: Timmy Danger): Adam Revolver (w/Michael Titus) vs. Michael Hayes (c).
Another back and forth match with many submission attempts by both participants. In the end, Hayes has the Liberty Lock applied on Adam, and Josh Ashcraft runs out to the announce table telling them to ring the bell. At the same time, Adam is tapping in the ring. Timmy calls for the bell.
WINNER and STILL OVW TV CHAMPION: HAYES by submission.
After the match, Josh grabs the title and gets in the ring. Timmy grabs it and has a tug of war with Josh. Danger then decks Josh and hands the title to Hayes!

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

Rev. Stuart Miles comes out and says today's good word is 'bully'. The fans chant for someone who is nothing but a bully. Bullies are really cowards, and this particular bully hides behind a mask. He calls out the Assassin. He said he left the rest of the Congregation in the back, but they come out and surround the Assassin. The Wild Boyz' music hits to even up the odds, and we have a 6-man tag...
"The Congregation": "The Pastor of Disaster" Rev. Stuart Miles, "Altar Boy" Jade Dawson, & "the Apostle" Jake Glasure vs. The Assassin & "The Wild Boyz": Eddie F. Diamond & "Party Starter" Bud Dwight.
Wild Boyz make quick tags in and out working over Jade. A referee distraction allows the Congregation to take control and triple-team Dwight. Miles has Dwight down and knocks EFD off the apron. He turns around and Dwight crawls through his legs to tag Assassin. Miles quickly tags out to Glasure. Glasure gets in Assassin's face, but eats a big clothesline. Miles tries to sneak up behind him and hit him with the good book, but Assassin turns around. He goes to clothesline Miles, but Miles moves, and Jade gets taken out as Miles scampers away. Assassin pins Glasure for the 3.
WINNERS: ASSASSIN & WILD BOYZ by pinfall.

Next week, we have a huge #1 contender's match as Marcus Anthony goes one-on-one with Cliff Compton!

This episode of OVW TV will be up online tomorrow. As always, thanks for reading!

  1. I sound like a broken record I know but I'll ask this in a serious way if I can.

OVW is bringing up/in a lot of fresh faces lately, as it can be seen in this episode. Clearly they have an interest to make new faces for their company. So here is my question... why doesn't OVW seem to want to do this with their women?

I mean I understand Tapa and Monroe are out doing other shows and iPPVs for other places (Monroe in AIW for instance), Rebel may still be recovering from an arm fracture, and Jessie Belle is sadly retiring soon. But I truly don't understand why OVW can't seem to find other women to have them take part in matches. Or maybe it's more of a matter of 'do they even want to find women?' Because it sure doesn't seem like.

Like you can bring in newbie wrestlers at the very least, even if they dont pull out the greatest matches it would still be fresh facs and something different. What happened to their previous interest in women like Santana Garrett (you know before she became Brittany in TNA) and Marti Belle?

Maybe they want women more local to them, that I can understand, but even still if there are women in the Ohio area that can go, why hasn't OVW seeked them out?

  2. My question is when is something going to be done about Ashcraft? He is one sneaky Ref! Also, is it me, or did Timmy Danger turn? Or is he still a heel with ulterior motive?
