Without further ado:
Here we go...
Pre-Show Dark Matches:
Leon gets in a little offense early, but Shane controls throughout and finishes Leon off with a brainbuster for the 3.
Pretty much a squash for Dan. He locks in the ankle lock, but Ringmaster tells him to destroy Matrix. Dan breaks the hold and hits the spinning sit-out powerbomb on Matrix for the 3.
That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching
the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report.
Again, you can check it out on WBNA ion-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 11AM and 10PM (check local listings)
and on OVW's official website Mondays at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.
Cliff Compton comes out and says he was in town, so what better way to spend a Wednesday night than at OVW?
Gilbert Corsey, Cliff Compton, & Timmy Danger are on commentary, and Gilbert is the ring announcer.
"EFD" Eddie Diamond defeats Trevor Steele (w/Josh Ashcraft, Big Jon, & Eric Locker).
Steele was doing a pretty good job of wearing down EFD with his size and power advantage, but he throws EFD out of the ring. Locker hits EFD and Big Jon goes to clothesline EFD, but Jon accidentally plows over Locker. Josh gets on the apron to throw powder into EFD's eyes, but EFD moves again, and Josh hits Trevor with it. With Trevor blinded, EFD takes him down into the Crossfire for the tapout.
After the match, Cliff Compton asks EFD about getting back the OVW Heavyweight Title. EFD says he will have his rematch at the September SNS, and there will be no countouts, pinfalls, or submissions. The only way to win is for your opponent to not answer the 10 count. It will be an Ultraviolent Death Match. He says he will walk out champion, or not walk out at all.
Randy Royal comes out in a wheelchair, and is being pushed by Jessie Belle in a nurse's outfit. Royal says he has a ruptured sciatic nerve (he goes back and forth with Jessie on how to pronounce "sciatic") and is too hurt to compete. Dean Hill comes out and says he suspended Ryan Howe, what more does he want? Royal says he needs another week, and Dean says he better not find out he's lying. Guitar music plays, and Royal jumps out of his wheelchair. Dean says Royal better get himself ready, because he will defend the OVW TV Title tonight against Devin Driscoll!
Backstage, Mohamad Ali Vaez approaches Adam Revolver and tells him he needs to fall in line and follow his lead in their tag match tonight. They argue as they head toward the ring.
"The Pastor of Disaster" Rev. Stuart Miles & Jade Dawson defeat Adam Revolver & Mohamad Ali Vaez.
Stu gets the brunt of the assault before getting a hot tag to Jade. Jade fires away on Revolver, hitting a kick off the ropes and a neckbreaker. Ali grabs a chair and cracks Jade across the back for the DQ.
After the match, Stu attacks Ali and delivers a "Be Healed" slap and 10 punches in the corner. As he turns around, Revolver has recovered and hits Stu with the chair. Ali hits a neckbreaker on Jade.
Rebel defeats Mary Elizabeth Monroe.
This was a good women's match that went back and forth, but in the end, Rebel fell on top of MEM as MEM went to slam her, and Rebel picked up the 3.
After the match, Jessie Belle runs out and attacks Rebel, and all 3 women get into a catfight.
OVW Southern Tag Team Champions "Wylde & Reckless": "Primetime" Robbie Walker & "Standout" Adam Wylde defeat Elvis Pridemoore & "Bad Boy" Shane Andrews.
Elvis & Shane get some early offense, but Wylde makes a hot tag to Walker. Walker cleans house and tags Wylde back in. Elvis is still focused on Walker, and turns into a spinning dive from Wylde who picks up the 3.
After the match, Mitch Huff runs out and tries to super kick Walker, but Walker ducks and Huff kicks Shane. Walker then tries to super kick Huff, but almost gets Wylde who blocks it. Walker grabs a mic and says next week, they have a winner take all for title and partner.
Cliff Compton brings out OVW Heavyweight Champion Chris Silvio and talks about his upcoming title defense in the Ultraviolent Death Match. Silvio says "Eddie who?" about his opponent Eddie Diamond. Silvio continues to talk and gets under the skin of Cliff, who smacks Silvio in the face. They get into it and have to be separated.
Driscoll is dominating, but spears referee AJ by mistake. Driscoll hits a cutter on Royal, but there is no ref. As Driscoll checks on AJ, Royal comes up from behind and low blows him. AJ recovers to start the pin, but Ryan Howe runs out and attacks Royal.
WINNER and STILL OVW TELEVISION CHAMPION: ROYAL by DQ.
After the match, Dean Hill comes out and tries to stop Howe, telling him he is suspended. Howe won't listen, because he is focused on revenge and trying to kill Royal. Dean continues to tell him to stop, but Howe just won't pay any mind to what he is saying. Finally, Dean tells Howe to clean out his locker, because he's fired!
This ended the TV taping.
Post-Show Dark Matches:
As much as I like Randy Royal, I think the wheelchair and the nursie outfit were a wee bit over the top.
ReplyDeleteI don't think many people will agree w/ you about jesie belle's nurses outfit being a bit over the top
DeleteI wonder how Adam Wylde feels about being the "prize" in a match between Mitch Huff and Robbie Walker. Can 2 men wrestle for half of a tag team title?
ReplyDeleteit was done by the WWE when Cody Rhodes and Hardcore Holly were world tag team champions, Ted Dibiase got Cody to tag with him so the match was a handicap match for the world tag team titles so basically Cody switched partners exactly what would happen is huff won the match.
DeleteI'm interested in seeing if Wylde will play a part in the "winner take all" match next week.
Deleteyou thinking OVW will have Wylde backstab Walker??
DeleteJessie Belle as a nurse? Who writes this stuff?
ReplyDeleteIt was just an outfit, but there was a pretty funny back and forth between Jessie & Randy on how to pronounce the word "sciatic".
DeleteDo you ever go to the Elizabethtown shows? I live here in town and would love to come talk wrestling with you sometime. Love the blog, keep up the great journalism
ReplyDelete~jb
No. Typically I'm at the Wednesday night tapings and SNS.
DeleteMaybe I'm mistaken, but was Leon Shelley introduced as being from "your girlfriends bedroom"?
ReplyDeleteDoes OVW tell the women at the last minute that they have a match on the show? Because more often than not, they never look as good as they could be. You could clearly see both Rebel & MEM were communicating during the match, plus they just didn't mesh well together. Even that brawl with Jessie afterwards looked terrible.
ReplyDeleteI want the women of OVW to look as good as they can be, not as an afterthought or a trainwreck like this weeks action involving them was.
