OVW TV #860: "Do It The Right(eous) Way"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, February 10, 2016. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 10PM, and online on Monday at www.ovwrestling.com/tv. In this episode, Dean Hill calls a staff meeting to make some big announcements, the Band of Brothaz defend the OVW Southern Tag Team Titles in a rematch against the Tag Buddies, plus much more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

"The Show Stealer" Rocco Bellagio defeats "The Party Starter" Bud Dwight. Dwight starts to fight back after Rocco takes an early advantage, but Rocco catches him with a huge spinebuster. Dwight kicks out. Dwight fires back again, hitting a splash in the corner, a high knee, and the Hangover. Josh gets on the apron, and the ref isn't there to count. Bud goes up top, but Josh jumps up again, which distracts Bud long enough, that he jumps into Rocco's grasp for a Rocco Bottom.

"The Technical Titan" Eric Locker defeats "The Heart & Soul of OVW" Rump Thump. A lot of good technical sequences back and forth to start out, and exchanges of arm drags and armbars. Rump goes off the ropes and Locker ducks a spinning back elbow. Locker hits the t-bone suplex for the 3.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on WBNA ion-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 11AM and 10PM (check local listings) and on OVW's official website Mondays at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.

Gilbert Corsey & Ron Hed are on commentary, and Ron is also the ring announcer.

Dean Hill comes out and says that he has a few orders of business to take care of, and he has the roster at ringside. First, at the March 5 SNS, the Nightmare Rumble returns! 20 men will compete in an over-the-top-rope match where the winner becomes the new #1 contender for the OVW Heavyweight Title. There will be a series of matches over the next few weeks that will determine who gets in and in what order.
He then calls Big Jon, Josh Ashcraft, & Devin Driscoll into the ring. He asks Jon to hand the title back. Jon does, but Dean tells him that he did fall to the bottom of the ranks. However, next week they will have a preview of the Nightmare Rumble with a mini-rumble. Jon and the 9 men ahead of him in the rankings will be in the mini-rumble, and the winner will get a TV title shot. He dismisses Jon & Driscoll, but tells Josh not to go anywhere.
He then calls in Rocco Bellagio & Ryan Howe. He tells Rocco that he had the world on a string, but he blew it. He tells Howe that he understands he wants his hands on Rocco, but personally thinks Rocco should put something on the line. At SNS, it will be a ladder match between them, and if Rocco doesn't win, Josh Ashcraft has to part ways.

"The Bad Boys Club": "Bad Boy" Shane Andrews & "Double R Superstar" Randy Royal (w/Jessie Belle) defeat Ravishing Ronnie & Precious. Royal hits the rolling slam on Ronnie, followed up by the frog splash from Shane for the 3.

OVW TELEVISION TITLE: Devin Driscoll (c) (w/Josh Ashcraft & Casey Reeves) defeats Tyler Matrix. Matrix is on a roll with kicks to Driscoll's side and an enziguri. He hits the Drive-By and goes up top, but Josh shoves him off while Casey has the ref distracted. Driscoll hits the Cutter for the 3.

Gilbert Corsey calls out the mystery man who attacked "The Chosen One" Mitch Huff. Gilbert says he is an investigative reporter, but the only thing he has been able to find out is his name...Daniel Eads. Before Daniel can say anything, Huff is out and the two brawl at ringside. They fight into the ring with superstars and referees trying to separate them.

OVW SOUTHERN TAG TEAM TITLES: "The Tag Buddies": Rev. Stu Miles & Adam Revolver defeat "The Band of Brothaz": General Pope & Private Anthony. Stu hits Anthony with some "be healed" slaps to the head off the ropes. Then Stu claws Anthony as he recites the Lord's prayer. Pope breaks it up, tags in, and then exchanges claws with Stu. Pope clotheslines him and the Brothaz work over Stu. Stu is able to get the tag, and Adam comes in with clotheslines to Pope, but Anthony clotheslines Adam from behind on the apron. Anthony is in and throws Adam hard in the corner. Pope comes in and hits a flying fist drop. Anthony is back in and hits Adam with a big vertical suplex. In the corner, Adam tries to fight out, but Pope pokes him in the eyes. He locks in a side headlock, and tags in Anthony. Anthony puts Adam in the torture rack. Adam fights out and tags Stu in. Stu knocks Anthony from the ring, and "heals" Pope in the corner. Anthony gets back in and Stu jumps at him, but Anthony catches him. Adam gets back in and dropkicks Stu onto Anthony, but Pope breaks the pin. Pope & Adam fight to the outside, where Pope takes Adam down. Pope gets back in and hits the finisher with Marcus on Stu, but Stu kicks out! Adam & Pope brawl again, as Anthony grabs Pope's ring from the announce table. He clocks Stu, but again Stu kicks out! Anthony gets frustrated and grabs a tag title. He sets up to hit Stu, but Pope pulls it away and says it's not the right way. Pope is handing the title back outside, and Anthony turns around into a double flapjack from Stu & Adam, and Adam keeps Pope from breaking up the pin as Stu gets the 3!
NEW CHAMPIONS!

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

Eddie Knox defeats Houdini. Knox totally dominates Houdini and hits a huge side slam. Houdini can't make the 10 count, so Knox wins by TKO. Knox continues to beat on Houdini after the match, which brings out Trevor Steele.

Trevor Steele defeats Eddie Knox by submission.

OVW Heavyweight Champion "Wrestling's Rockstar" Ryan Howe vs. "The Technical Titan" Eric Locker ends in a time-limit draw. A very good back and forth match with Josh Ashcraft distracting Howe at times at ringside. Howe blocked the german suplex and t-bone suplex, and Locker avoided the Whammy Bar until the closing moments. He started to tap right after the time expired.
After the match, Howe grabs Josh and locks him in the Whammy Bar.

As always, thanks for reading!

  1. Great report as always! Surprised to see a title change on TV!! Is Locker back with Ashcraft now? I like Locker but Josh is SO annoying...I can't stand him

    1. I don't know, but it was great seeing Ryan Howe put the whammy bar on Josh Asscrack. I did notice that Locker made no move to help.

  3. Nice to see Rev Stu and Adam Revolver as the new tag team champions. Hard to believe that a few months ago they couldn't stand each other.
