Without further ado:
Here we go...
Pre-Show Dark Matches:
Little Damion (w/Scarlet & Dapper Dan Van Zandt) defeats The Assassin after Sacrlet distracts the referee and Dan hits Assassin from behind with a steel chair. Damion goes up top and hits a frog splash for the 3.
Daniel Eads defeats Houdini in a squash after hitting the Weight of the World.
That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching
the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report.
Again, you can check it out on WBNA ion-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 11AM and 10PM (check local listings)
and on OVW's official website Mondays at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.
Gilbert Corsey, Shannon the Dude, & Ron Hed are on commentary, and Ron is also the ring announcer.
Trevor Steele defeats "The Technical Titan" Eric Locker by DQ. A good back and forth match between the big men finds it way to the outside of the ring. Locker, in trouble, hits Steele with a low blow.
After taking Steele down, he grabs a chair and hits Steele with it in the gut.
"The Party Starter" Bud Dwight defeats Tony Gunn. This was a very good back and forth match with several reversals and near falls. In the end, Gunn is going for a reverse DDT, but Dwight slides out and rolls him up to finally get the 3. They shake hands after the match.
Gilbert Corsey brings out Daniel Eads. He says that 2 weeks ago, Eads faced Mitch Huff in a match that ended with a low blow, and last week we saw Huff chasing after Eads' Toyota Camry in the parking lot. It has been made official by Dean Hill that they will face off again at the April 2nd Saturday Night Special. Eads says after all Huff has done to him, he will beat him down and beat him at SNS.
Huff comes out and has a pink gift bag in hand. Huff says he did take $10,000 from him in poker, but he wants to prove how good a guy he is. He gives Eads the gift bag and points out that he got his favorite color. Eads reaches in and pulls out a "Poker for Dummies" book. Huff says that was all in good fun, but to reach down and find the main gift. Eads reaches back in and pulls out a spray for athlete's foot. He asks why he needs that and Huff hits him with the "Athlete's Foot" super kick. He puts the spray down by Eads' head and says he will need to apply that real thick at the Saturday Night Special!
#1 CONTENDER'S MATCH for the OVW SOUTHERN TAG TEAM TITLES: Rump Thump & Tyler Matrix defeat "Ladies' Choice": Ravishing Ronnie & "The Ladies' Man" Leon Shelly after Rump knocks Leon off the top rope and a distracted Ronnie gets rolled up by Matrix for the 3.
After the match, they are all shaking hands, but get attacked by the Bad Boys Club.
Leon, Rump, & Ronnie all get thrown out of the ring, and the Bad Boys attempt to put the noose on Matrix, but the Tag Buddies run out with chairs to make the save!
Gilbert Corsey brings out the new OVW Heavyweight Champion "The Complete Athlete" Devin Driscoll (w/Casey Reeves & Josh Ashcraft). Josh says he promised everyone that this would happen and it came true.
Driscoll says he did what had to be done, and we will not see Ryan Howe again, unless he is on the street corner playing his guitar for money. They get interrupted by Big Jon.
Jon says this is kind of like a reunion. He then talks about how he is the OVW Television Champion, because he took that title from Driscoll. He thinks it would be real nice to take the Heavyweight Title from him back home as well. They are then interrupted by "The Show Stealer" Rocco Bellagio.
Rocco tells Driscoll that he can thank him for being champion, because he softened up Howe. He says he was also never pinned or submitted by Howe, so he should be #1 contender. This starts an argument between Rocco & Jon, and out comes Dean Hill.
Dean says no one wants to see all 3 of these young "bulls" go at it more than him and the fans, but it can't happen tonight. He has an idea. At the next Saturday Night Special, Rocco & Jon will face off, and the winner will meet Devin Driscoll for the OVW Heavyweight Title at a future show in E-Town.
This ended the TV taping.
Battle of the BIG MEN.....Rocco vs. Big John......kinda like King Kong vs. Godzilla !!!!
