OVW April 2016 SNS Results

This is the OVW Saturday Night Special Report for Saturday, April 2, 2016. 

"Steel Vengeance" is the theme of this show.

-General Pope vs. Marcus Anthony in a Lethal Lockdown Steel Cage Match for Pope's ring!
-Big Jon vs. Rocco Bellagio for #1 contendership to the OVW Heavyweight Title
-The Tag Buddies vs. Rump Thump & Tyler Matrix for the OVW Southern Tag Team Titles
-Mitch Huff vs. Daniel Eads in a grudge match
-Bud Dwight vs. Tony Gunn in the rubber match of a 3 match series

GRUDGE MATCH: "The Technical Titan" Eric Locker vs. Trevor Steele.
Locker attacks Steele from behind to start the match and delivers some uppercuts. Steele comes back and throws Locker into all 4 turnbuckles around the ring. Locker comes back with a knee to the face and hits a snap suplex. Steele comes back and takes Locker down, and then hits a flying clothesline off the top rope. Steele charges Locker, but Locker flips him over the top rope and to the outside. Locker runs off the apron and flies at Steele, but Steele catches him on the outside and bounces Locker's head off the apron. He rolls Locker in and goes back up top. He leaps off, but Locker catches him and hits the T-Bone Suplex for 2. They exchange blows and Locker ducks a punch in the corner. Steele jumps up on the second rope, but Lokcer goes underneath him and has Steele on his shoulders, where he hits the German Suplex. Again, Steele kicks out at 2. Locker goes for another, but Steele slides off his shoulders and hits a huge side slam for 2. Steele then connects with the Pumphandle slam for the 3.
WINNER: STEELE by pinfall.

"The Van Zandt Family Circus": Dapper Dan Van Zandt, Little Damion, & the Ringmaster (w/Scarlet) vs. Justin Smooth, The Assassin, & "The Ladies' Man" Leon Shelly.
The Van Zandts control early until a hot tag to Assassin. Assassin clotheslines through Ringmaster, but a pin is broken up by Dapper Dan. Smooth & Dan fight to the outside. Leon knocks Damion out and then pulls away Ringmaster's whip in a tug of war. This allows Assassin to grab him and hit a powerslam for the 3.

RUBBER MATCH of a BEST of 3 SERIES: Tony Gunn vs. "Party Starter" Bud Dwight.
Dwight & Gunn have a bunch of quick pin attempts and reversals again, but a frustrated Gunn smacks Dwight in the face and tempers flare a bit. Dwight ends up connecting with the Hangover for the 3, but Gunn's leg was clearly under the bottom rope.
WINNER: DWIGHT by pinfall.

OVW SOUTHERN TAG TEAM TITLES: Tyler Matrix & "The Heart & Soul of OVW" Rump Thump vs. "The Tag Buddies"Adam Revolver & Rev. Stuart Miles (c).
Matrix & Rump work over Adam's leg until he can get a tag to Stu. Stu fires away on Rump and "heals" him in the corner. He goes up top and hurts his neck after his landing from hitting a flying dropkick. Rump & Matrix regain the advantage by working over Stu's neck. Stu & Matrix each tag Adam & Rump respectively. The Tag Buddies deliver a double healing, but when Adam throws Matrix out of the corner, Matrix connects with a roundhouse kick to Stu, who was thrown out of the corner by reversal from Rump. Rump & Matrix hit a double suplex on Adam, and Rump hits the Thump on Adam. Matrix goes for the senton bomb, but Stu pulls Adam out of the way. Stu heals Rump in the head, and Adam rolls Rump up for the 3.
Robbie Walker was on commentary and makes fun of Matrix after the match, saying he is a loser. Matrix knocks Walker out.

GRUDGE MATCH: Daniel Eads vs. "The Chosen One" Mitch Huff.
Quick back and forth action early, then Huff slingshots Eads over the top rope. Eads lands on the apron. When Huff goes after him, Eads hits a cutter across the top rope. Eads jumps in with an elbow, then goes for his jump in moonsault, but Huff puts his knees up. Huff hits a backbreaker. Eads is on the outside and Huff leaps after him, but Eads sidesteps him and Huff crashes on the floor. Eads throws him into the barricade and goes inside. Eads goes off the ropes and leaps over the top rope onto Huff. Huff makes it back in at 9, and starts to build a comeback. He goes for the Athlete's Foot, but Eads puts the ref in the way. As Huff moves the ref, Eads low blows Huff. Huff kicks out at 2. Eads grabs a chair, but Huff blocks it and grabs the chair. The ref pulls it away and as he puts it outside, Eads grabs a loaded sock full of coins from his tights and knocks out Huff to get the 3.
WINNER: EADS by pinfall.

#1 CONTENDER for the OVW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE: "The Show Stealer" Rocco Bellagio vs. OVW TELEVISION CHAMPION Big Jon.
A battle between 2 beasts goes back and forth throughout. Rocco hits Jon's head off 3 out of 4 turnbuckles, but Jon blocks the 4th. He then hits Rocco's head off all 4 turnbuckles. Jon chokeslams Rocco, but Rocco kicks out. Jon goes for another chokeslam, but Rocco reverses into the Plunge. Jon kicks out at 2 and Rocco is shocked. They exchange blows, and the ref gets shoved trying to break them up. He then gets squashed in the corner by Jon. Jon & Rocco fight to the outside and miss hitting each other with chairs, shoving a 2nd ref down twice in the process. Finally, senior official Joe Wheeler comes out and rules it a no-contest.

LETHAL LOCKDOWN STEEL CAGE MATCH for POPE'S RING: Marcus Anthony vs. General Pope.
Early on, Marcus dominates with his strength. Pope climbs the cage and Marcus follows him up.
They fight on the cage, and Pope grabs a metal tray and blasts Marcus in the head. Marcus falls across the top rope. Pope blasts Marcus with a kendo stick several times and boxes his ears with 2 metal trays. Marcus comes back and hits Pope with the chain around his neck and hits a powerbomb.
He sets a big piece of plywood across 4 chairs and goes to powerbomb Pope through it,
but Pope grabs the cage and starts to climb.
Pope and Marcus fight near the top, but Pope blasts Marcus in the head with the chain and Marcus crashes through the wood!
Pope continues to climb over the cage and to the floor for the win.
