OVW TV #869: "Rocco's Choice"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, April 13, 2016. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 10PM, and online on Monday at www.ovwrestling.com/tv. In this episode, Big Jon defends the TV Title against Daniel Eads, Rocco Bellagio faces Rump Thump, Tyler Matrix teams with recent rival Robbie Walker against another team of recent rivals in Bud Dwight & Tony Gunn, plus much more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

OVW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE: "The Complete Athlete" Devin Driscoll (w/Josh Ashcraft) (c) defeats "The Chosen One" Mitch HuffHuff & Driscoll exchange armbars. Driscoll ducks an early attempt at an Athlete's Foot from Huff, and rolls out of the ring. Huff jumps out on the apron and runs off and hits a double axehandle. He charges back at Driscoll, but Driscoll throws him up and off of the barricade. Driscoll rolls Huff in and hits a snap suplex off the ropes. He locks in a sharpshooter, but Huff makes it to the ropes. Huff is sent off the ropes and comes back at Driscoll with a forearm to the head. Josh jumps up on the apron as Huff sets up for the Athlete's Foot. Huff goes after Josh, and Driscoll tries to hit the Cutter, but Huff shoves him off and connects with the Athlete's Foot. Josh puts Driscoll's foot on the ropes at 2. Huff grabs Josh and Josh gets away with Huff still holding Josh's jacket. Huff turns around, and this time Driscoll does connect with the Cutter for 3.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on WBNA ion-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 11AM and 10PM (check local listings) and on OVW's official website Mondays at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.

Gilbert Corsey, Shannon the Dude, & Ron Hed are on commentary, and Ron is also the ring announcer.

"The Bad Boys Club": "Bad Boy" Shane Andrews & "Double R Superstar" Randy Royal (w/Jessie Belle) defeat "Top Flight": Mickey Muscles & Brother Reed. Top Flight shows off their quickness, athleticism, and high flying maneuvers early, but the Bad Boys caught Reed with their double team finisher of Royal's samoan drop and Shane's frog splash for the 3.
Josh Ashcraft comes out with Devin Driscoll and says at the 10 man elimination tag match at the Derby Festival, Big Jon will be on the losing side, because he has the Bad Boys Club, Daniel Eads (who he says will soon be the next TV Champion and is backstage getting ready), and the OVW Heavyweight Champion Devin Driscoll. Driscoll says he will remain champ after Saturday in E-Town, Eads will be TV champ after tonight, and the Bad Boys are future tag champs. He then extends an invitation to Rocco Bellagio to join their team because they are winners. If he chooses the other team, it will be like joining a JV squad. He says Rocco is OVW's MVP, and should be their 5th man.

The Van Zandt Family Circus comes to the ring led by Ringmaster, who has on an afro wig and robe mocking Leon Shelly. Dapper Dan says Leon touched his beauty (Scarlet), so they took some of his away by shaving his head.
They then go after the cameraman, Houdini, and go to shave him as well, but Trevor Steele comes out and runs them off.

RIVALS CROSSOVER TAG MATCH: "The Party Starter" Bud Dwight & Tony Gunn defeat "Primetime" Robbie Walker & Tyler Matrix. Gunn & Dwight are working well together early, but Matrix & Walker are not. They argue and refuse to tag in one another. Late in the match, Matrix has Gunn down and goes to the top rope for the senton bomb, but Walker tags himself in and pushes Matrix off the top rope. Gunn crawls over to his corner and Dwight tags himself in. Dwight runs over Walker and Gunn is upset that Dwight tagged in. Gunn pushes him into a backstabber from Walker and leaves. Walker goes for the pin, but Matrix gets in and pulls Walker off. Matrix hits Walker with a pele kick and Dwight connects with the hangover for the 3.

"The Show Stealer" Rocco Bellagio defeats Rump Thump. Rocco powers through Rump early, but falls to the outside after charging at Rump, and Rump pulls down the ropes. Rump then flies outside onto Rocco. Rump rolls him in and goes up top. Rump hits a flying Thump, but only gets 2! Off the ropes, Rocco catches Rump with a mega spinebuster. He then connects with the Plunge for 3.
After the match, Ron Hed tries to get Rocco to announce his intentions for the 10 man elimination tag match, but Rocco stares at him and walks off.

OVW TELEVISION TITLE: Big Jon (c) defeats Daniel Eads by DQ. A very good match that actually sees Eads control most of over the big man. Eads cannot put him away, so Josh Ashcraft runs out to create a distraction, and Devin Driscoll comes out and blasts Jon with the Heavyweight Title.
Eads covers, but Jon kicks out at 2! Jon starts to find his second wind, and takes Eads down with a big boot.
He sets up for the chokeslam, but the Bad Boys Club runs out and attacks him for the DQ.
Eads, the Bad Boys, & Driscoll gang up on Jon, until the Tag Buddies run out.
Next, Mitch Huff runs out to even the numbers. They run off Team Driscoll, and Jon says this is a preview of his team.
Rocco Bellagio comes out and looks at both teams, but again walks back to the back without making a decision.

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

Amazing Maria defeats Nutty Nancy & Scarlet in a triple threat match. This was a women's battle of weirdness that was won by Maria after she made Scarlet tap to the disarmer.

Trevor Steele & "The Tag Buddies": Adam Revolver & Rev. Stuart Miles vs. "The Van Zandt Family Circus": Dapper Dan Van Zandt, Ringmaster, & Little Damion ends in a double countout.

As always, thanks for reading!
