OVW TV 1050: Rough Road Ahead for Smooth?

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, September 25, 2019. OVW can be seen LIVE at 8PM ET on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area and again on Saturdays at 11AM and 9PM. You can also find OVW TV on the OVW Network. In this episode, NEW TV Champion Corey Storm defends the title in the gauntlet, the beginning of the Nightmare Cup, plus more!

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

"The Boy Wonder" Sam Thompson defeats "Action" Ashton Cove. Sam locks an armbar, Cove reverses. Sam back with an arm drag. Off the ropes, Cove plows him down. Sam back with a kick off the ropes. He kicks Cove in the corner. Cove rolls out and Sam dropkicks Cove through the ropes. Cove comes back with a knee and a takedown for 2. He hits a backdrop and goes after Sam's briefcase of money. Sam goes out and hits him, then rolls him in and hits a super kick for the 3.

Steve Michaels defeats Vineeshhh. Michaels clubs Vineeshhh down and stomps him. He hits a fall away slam. He stomps him again and pins for 2. He hits a big headbutt for 2. Vineeshhh moves from a charge in the corner and works over Michaels' arm. He goes for a charge in the corner, but Michaels catches him in the Chicago Bearhug and Vineeshhh passes out.

Chace & Nigel have another $500 challenge. They pick someone in the audience to bounce a tennis ball 10 times off a tennis racket. Nigel knocks the ball away on the 8th bounce and they tell security to escort the loser out of here.

Dustin Jackson calls out Tony Gunn. He wants an explanation. Instead, Randall Floyd arrives. Floyd is just as upset for what he did to them and Al Snow, but Floyd wants him to step aside. Dustin says he's going nowhere. They both want to wait for Gunn to come out. Gunn's music hits and he comes to the ring and grabs a mic. He says he doesn't have to explain anything, but if they're looking for a fight, he'll kick them both in a triple threat match.
"Shotgun" Tony Gunn defeats Dustin Jackson & "The Real Deal" Randall Floyd. A ref comes out, the bell rings, and Gunn jumps out. He gets back in, only to leave again. They cut him off between them, but he hits them both, then they both hit each other swinging for Gunn. Gunn hits both of them in separate corners after some miscommunication. Both of them try to get on the same page working over Gunn together. They hit a double dropkick, but Dustin shoves Floyd off a modified Boston crab on Gunn. Gunn shoves Dustin into Floyd, sending him to the apron. Floyd flips in over Gunn, who German suplexes Dustin at the same time Floyd rolls Gunn up for 2. Gunn throws Floyd hard into the corner. Floyd flips him over to the apron. Gunn hits him and connects with the flying knee. Dustin hits Gunn with the Michinoku Driver, but Floyd pushes him off. Dustin with a hard right to Floyd. They exchange blows, and Dustin takes Floyd down off the ropes. He goes up top, but Floyd hits him and goes for a superplex. Gunn comes up underneath for a powerbomb. He powerbombs Floyd as Dustin holds on. Gunn rolls outside and Dustin hits Floyd with the splash from the top. Gunn pulls him off a pin for 2. Gunn & Dustin fight on the outside as Floyd leaps on both of them from the apron. He rolls Gunn in as Dustin tries to recover outside. Floyd goes for a Deal Breaker, Gunn slides out and goes for the Killshot, but Floyd slides out and hits the Deal Breaker for 2 as Dustin breaks the pin. Floyd & Dustin argue again and Floyd rolls him up for 2. Floyd & Dustin decide to work together on a double suplex, but Gunn holds on and rolls Floyd up in a small package for the 3 and Dustin doesn't realize it! Gunn wins!

TELEVISION TITLE GAUNTLET:
Amon vs. William Lutz. Amon is screaming for Sinn Bodhi. Lutz tries to use his quickness, but Amon hits the ropes as he goes up top. He pulls him off the top rope by his chain. The bell rings. Amon hits Ashton Cove as he comes out next with the chain and stomps him. EC Diamond comes out next, but Amon chokes him and slams him down to the floor also. Assuming that these first competitors could not continue in the gauntlet and those matches were thrown out with Amon out of control. Corey Storm comes out next and hits Amon from behind and super kicks him through the curtain.
"Category 5" Corey Storm (c) defeats Dimes. Some quick back and forth flips and reversals off the ropes ends in a stalemate. Corey knocks Dimes out of the ring and goes to fly out, but Dimes is back in. Dimes then flies out on Corey who still went to the outside. Back inside, Corey catches Dimes with a dropkick. Sleeper applied. Dimes works back up and knocks Storm down into the corner. Dimes stomps him and locks in a submission. Storm works up and throws Dimes toward the corner, but Dimes slides out of the ring, runs back in, and hits a dropkick. He locks in a sleeper, but Storm flings him out of the ropes, then flies out on him. From the apron, he flips in on Dimes for 2. Storm with a running dropkick for 2. Storm with a reverse headlock. Dimes with a chinbuster out of it. Dimes back with a kick to the head. He goes up top and hits a flying cross body for 2. Dimes with a standing moonsault for 2. Headlock on the mat by Dimes. Corey fights back up and runs into a knee from Dimes. Dimes kicks him in the face and locks in the STF. Corey tries to roll him over for 2. Corey with a neckbreaker off the knee for 2. They exchange shots. Dimes fires up, but Corey catches him with a super kick. He hits a corner clothesline and the Eye of the Storm, but Dimes falls out of the ring. Corey rolls him back in. Off the ropes, Dimes goes for the Change Maker, but Corey catches him and rolls him up for the 3. (5* MATCH)

Big shows coming in October. October 29th, OVW will be presenting "Tuesday Night Frightmare" at the Bourbon Hall. Already announced...Gangrel will be there!

Max the Impaler defeats Hip Hop VV. Max throws VV around like a rag doll and puts her away with a crucifix slam for the 3.

Dean Hill comes to the ring. He says it's an annual honor to announce it's time for the Nightmare Cup. He says they will announce the tournament as the weeks go by, but they will present the trophy to the winners at Bourbon Hall on October 29. He is interrupted by the Legacy of Brutality. Josh Ashcraft wants to know why the L.O.B. hasn't been mentioned. Dean says the tag team champions are are already automatically entered, and Josh just wants attention on himself. Dean says they're starting the tournament right now then...
"Kings Ransom": Leonis & Maximus Khan defeats "The Legacy of Brutality": OVW Southern Tag Team Champions Ca$h Flo, Jay BradleyBig Zo & "Hood Ninja" Hy Zaya (w/Josh Ashcraft).
The Kings take on all 4 men all over the ring and ringside. The L.O.B. can never get the upperhand or offense going. The Kings hit Zo with Kings Landing for the 3!

Justin Smooth comes to the ring. He has something to say. Usually he asks if the fans miss him, but he knows the answer. He says he is the best person, best performer, best man in this building. No one can beat him or take his title away from him. Corey Storm, Dustin Jackson, and more have tried, but he is the fighting champion. He is willing to take on anybody, anywhere, anytime, who wants to challenge him for his belt.
The locker room empties and comes to ringside with everyone wanting a shot. Smooth says they misunderstood. He didn't mean tonight. He tells them to go back to the back and show him the respect he deserves. Smooth picks out AJZ. Smooth asks what his name is, but then says it doesn't matter. Smooth takes off the title, his watch, his necklace, and turns into some arm drags...
OVW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE: "The Trinidad Titan" Justin Smooth (c) defeats AJZ. AJZ with a slam and pin for 2. Smooth comes back and takes AJZ down. AJZ fires back again and hits a cutter off his shoulders for 2. Smooth back with a roll-up and handful of tights for the 3.
Dean Hill comes out, grabs a mic, and tells him next Tuesday night, he will defend the title and Dean will pick his opponent!
