OVW TV 1051: Smooth Tames a Beast

This is the OVW Report for Tuesday, October 1, 2019. OVW can be seen LIVE at 8PM ET on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area and again on Saturdays at 11AM and 9PM. You can also find OVW TV on the OVW Network. In this episode, the TV Title gauntlet, the Nightmare Cup tournament continues, Justin Smooth has to defend the Heavyweight Title against a mystery opponent chosen by commissioner Dean Hill, plus more!

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

Jessie Belle defeats "The 98 Year Old Wrestling Extraordinaire" Thunderkitty. Jessie tries to teach Kitty how to "floss", then locks up her arm. They go back and forth with a backslide and other roll-up attempts. Kitty locks in the claw, but Jessie gets out of it. She takes Kitty down off the ropes, but Kitty throws her into the ropes hard. She locks the claw again, but Jessie reverses it into an arm submission for the tapout.


"The Legacy of Brutality": OVW Southern Tag Team Champions Ca$h Flo, Jay BradleyBig Zo & "Hood Ninja" Hy Zaya (w/"The East End Villain" Josh Ashcraft) defeats "The Indian Nightmare" Vineeshhh, KTD, William Lutz, & EC Diamond. Jay with a headbutt and kick to Lutz. He goes for the Boomstick, but Lutz rolls away. He dropkicks Jay, but Jay doesn't go off his feet and stomps him. He hits him into the corner and tags Zo. Zo with a headbutt and takedown. Ca$h tags in and Lutz catches him with an enziguri and tags KTD. KTD gets bulldozed over and chopped hard. Hy with a kick to the head off the top rope. KTD tags out to EC. Hy works him over in the corner and tags Jay. Jay chops him, then hits a big boot. Ca$h tags in and stomps and chops EC. Josh distracts the ref while Jay & Zo take Vineeshhh, Lutz, & KTD down off the apron and hit them into the barricade. Back inside, Ca$h, Hy, Zo, & Jay all grab a limb and lift EC up and slam him back down hard to the mat for the 3.

Tony Bizo defeats "The Man" Dapper Dan. Bizo wins a test of strength, but Dan hits him into the corner. Bizo reverses a throw and splashes Dan. He slams him, then shoulders him in the corner. Dan throws him off of him and Bizo's bad knee is ailing him. Dan goes to work on it. Dan uses the ropes for leverage, but the ref sees it and kicks his arm off. Bizo fires back, but Dan goes back after the knee. Off the ropes, Bizo catches him with a spinebuster. He hits a Bizo Bottom for the 3!

Amon defeats "The Boy Wonder" Sam Thompson. Amon throws Sam hard into the corner, but misses a charge. Sam hits him and knees him. Amon runs into a boot and Sam connects with a kick, then the slingblade. Amon kicks out at 1. Amon pops up and runs into a boot, but hits Sam as he climbs up top and knocks him out of the ring. He goes out and hits him off the side of the apron. They continue fighting on the outside. Amon again hits Sam's head off the apron and rolls him in. He clubs Sam across the back and throws him hard into the corner. He slaps Sam across the back after licking his hands. He chokes Sam with a boot across the throat. Off the ropes, Amon catches him with a knee to the midsection. Amon with a hard clothesline off the ropes to Sam for 2. Amon with a funnel cake to Sam as he yells out Sinn Bodhi's name. Amon with a submission, and Sam up at 2. He charges back with some kicks and a funnel cake of his own. He dropkicks Amon through the ropes, then dives out on him. Back inside, Sam goes up top, but Amon catches him with a hit to the midsection. He delivers the STH for the 3.

TELEVISION TITLE GAUNTLET:
AJZ defeats Drew Hernandez. Drew ambushes AJZ before his music even hits. He hits him in the corner and then hits a fall away slam. He hits a hard shoulder tackle and then clubs him across the back. He goes for the Mayan Apocalypse, but AJZ rolls him up in an inside cradle for the 3.
AJZ defeats "Action" Ashton Cove. Cove fires away and shoulders him in the corner. AJZ with arm drags, but Cove kicks him and AJZ hurts his knee. Cove hits a back body drop and misses a moonsault off the ropes. AJZ rolls him up for the 3.
AJZ defeats Steve Michaels. AJZ tries to fire away on him, but Steve is unfazed and headbutts him. He slams him hard. He misses a charge and AJZ dropkicks him down and covers him for the 3.
"Category 5" Corey Storm (c) defeats AJZ. Storm with a quick roll-up for 2. He kicks AJZ and knocks him to the outside where he kicks him from the apron. He goes to flip in on AJZ, but AJZ moves. AJZ with a dropkick. Storm back with a hard dropkick into the corner, then the Eye of the Storm for the 3.
"Shotgun" Tony Gunn defeats "Category 5" Corey Storm (c). Gunn takes him down, but Storm comes back with a dropkick. He dives on him through the ropes. Back inside, Storm leapfrog splashes him through the ropes for 2. He goes to dive out again, but Gunn with a forearm shot. Storm with a hard kick for 2. Off the ropes, another hard kick. He runs again, but Gunn slides out and takes his feet out from under him. In the ropes, Storm kicks him, but Gunn clotheslines him. He gets in and stomps him and kicks him in the face. They exchange shots and storm with a chinbuster. Gunn with a release vertical suplex. He covers him for 2. He tries again but is choking him. Gunn knees him several times in the corner. He goes up top, but Storm catches him with a kick to the head. Hurricanrana off the top by Storm. He goes up again, but Gunn rolls out. Storm dives out on him, then rolls him in. Storm with a suplex. He misses a charge in the corner and Gunn shoulders him, then leaps in with the knee to the face. Storm leaps up with a dropkick and goes up top. He misses the Eye of the Storm and Gunn hits the Killshot for the 3!
After the match, Dustin Jackson confronts Gunn in the ring wanting answers. Gunn leaves through the crowd and side door, and Dustin follows him out. Meanwhile, Chace & Nigel make their way to the ring for the next match...
NIGHTMARE CUP MATCH: Dimes & "Category 5" Corey Storm defeat Nigel & Chace. Storm is still down from his gauntlet match and gets attacked by Chace & Nigel. Nigel has a golf club and is about to hit Storm when Dimes comes out and goes after Nigel & Chace. Dimes & Storm get the upperhand for a moment dropkicking them both down, but Nigel & Chace regain control, working over Storm. Storm gets a roll-up attempt in, but Nigel & Chace continue to work him over and cheat behind the ref's back, especially as he tries to keep Dimes from entering. Chace covers him, but is choking him with his forearm across the throat. He gets a 2 count. Chace hits Storm's face off the apron. Storm gets free and tags Dimes, who fires away on both men. He dropkicks Chace to the floor. They double team Dimes and throw him off the ropes, but Storm makes a blind tag. Dimes ducks a double team by Nigel & Chace and hits a double Change Maker. Storm with the Eye of the Storm on Nigel for the 3.

Max the Impaler defeats Cali Young (w/Bryan Kennison). Bryan gets in Max's face and says she should be called Max the "Inhaler", because she sucks. She chokes Bryan into the corner as Cali hits her from behind. Max comes back and hits her in the corner and slams her. She misses a charge. Cali with dropkicks and a cover for only 1. Cali kicks her and runs into a wall as Max lays her out. Cali with a chinbuster, but Max with a kick and splash in the corner. Max with a spear for the 3.

October 29th, OVW will be presenting "Tuesday Night Frightmare" at the Bourbon Hall. Gangrel will be there, and Sinn Bodhi will be back to defend the Anarchy Title!

OVW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE: "The Trinidad Titan" Justin Smooth (c) defeats Rhino. Rhino takes it to Smooth, hitting and chopping him around the ring. Back elbow off the ropes. Snapmare and cover for 2. He hits Smooth into the turnbuckle and throws him off the ropes. Smooth holds on and rolls out. He grabs his title and goes to leave, but Rhino goes out and throws him back in. Off the ropes, he hits a back body drop. Smooth rolls out and Rhino goes out again. He hits Smooth's head off the apron and then off the guardrail. He rolls him in for 2. Rhino continues to club him. Smooth kicks Rhino from behind below the belt while holding the ref so he couldn't see it. Smooth tries to cover for 2. Smooth hits him and hits his head off the turnbuckle. Smooth stomps him and slams him. Smooth hits Rhino with a backdrop. He goes to the top, but Rhino gets to his feet and slams him off. Rhino with a clothesline, back elbow, and a charge into Smooth in the corner. Rhino with a clothesline and cover for 2. Smooth fires back, but Rhino hits a cutter off his shoulders for 2. Rhino sets up for the Gore, but Smooth sidesteps it and hits a spinebuster. Smooth sets up for Street Justice, but Rhino sidesteps it and hits the Gore! Smooth rolls out of the ring though. Rhino rolls him in and sets up again. Smooth avoids it, hits Street Justice, and gets the 3!

This ended the TV taping.
