OVW TV 1127: Rock & Sockin' It

This is the OVW Report for Tuesday, March 16, 2021. OVW TV can be seen LIVE at 8PM ET on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area with repeats Saturday nights at 9PM, and you can also watch via

In this episode, Dimes has another Super Heavyweight Open Challenge, D'mone Solavino faces off with former Rush Champion William Lutz in a grudge match, Reverend Ronnie Roberts has another edition of the Good Word with special guest Tony Gunn, Brandon Tate meets Luscious Lawrence in a qualifier for a spot in the #1 contender to the National Title ladder match, plus much more!

OVW Overdrive (Airing Saturdays at 11AM):

Eric Cornish & AJ McKay are on commentary, and the ring announcer is Ms. Stephanie.

"Controlled Chaos"
: Henry Shaw & Crash Taylor vs. "Southern Discomfort": Jebidiah Blackhawk & Snake Williams Jr. (w/Jessie Belle)

A very quick match. Shaw & Taylor try to attack, but Southern Discomfort quickly takes them down and gets the 3.
WINNERS: SOUTHERN DISCOMFORT by pinfall.

Big D vs. "The Man" Dapper Dan
.
Big D takes the fight to Dan early. He misses a Blitz kick and Dan fires up with hits and clotheslines. He slams D, then delivers a Death Valley Driver for the 3.
WINNER: DAPPER by pinfall.

"Co-Star"
 Rex (w/"Hollywood" Adam Swayze) vs. "The Suplex Shogun" Jackson Stone
.
Rex with a couple "takes" early. Stone back with chops in the corner and goes for a side suplex, but can't budge Rex. Rex boots him off the ropes, then splashes him in the corner. He clotheslines him hard. Stone chops and hits Rex, but doesn't take him down. He hits a side suplex for 2. Adam gets on the apron allowing Rex to catch Stone from behind with a pop-up chokeslam for the 3.
WINNER: REX by pinfall.

"Iron Bear"
 Tom Coffey vs. "Mr. Zero Gravity" AJ Daniels
.
AJ dives out of the way of a charge by Tom. He hits a kick to the head. Off the ropes, he ducks a clothesline from Tom, but then runs into a brick wall as Tom turns and plows him down to the mat. Tom hits a big scoop slam and misses an elbow drop. AJ chops back and hits the Countdown Kicks. On zero, Tom catches his foot and AJ flips over. Tom splashes him into the corner. AJ back with a kick to the head. He goes for the Zero Kick again, but Tom locks him into a bearhug, then hits the Big Bear Slam for the 3.
WINNER: COFFEY by pinfall.

"Superior"
 Tony Evans vs. Heath Hatton
.
Tony dropkicks Heath in the corner as he poses, then suplexes him in from the apron. He chops him in the ropes, but Heath strikes back. Off the ropes, Tony hits a clothesline and covers for 2. Off the ropes, Tony hits a quick powerslam for 2. He locks in a sleeper. Heath fires back. He hits a swinging neckbreaker for 2. He then catches Tony with 2 super kicks and a spear for the 3.
WINNER: HEATH by pinfall.

"The Fanny Pack Kid" Kal Herro vs. Star Rider.
Kal & Star with several quick exchanges. Star hits a nice dropkick, then Kal catches him with a super kick. Star hits him in the corner, then drops an elbow for 2. He misses another elbow drop and Kal fires up. Kal with some rights and bionic elbows. An uppercut to Star in the corner. Star back with a knee to the face. He goes up top and hits a huge frog splash for the 3.
WINNER: STAR by pinfall.

Brandon Espinosa vs. "Demolition" Dunn.
Quick back and forth early. Espy hammers Dunn down and locks his legs around Dunn's head. Dunn fires back, hitting a shoulder tackle, then a trio of side suplexes. He locks Espy up from behind, but Espy drills him with a stunner, then a brainbuster for the 3.
WINNER: ESPINOSA by pinfall.

"The Mayan Mauler"
Drew Hernandez
 & 
"The Complete Package" Tony Bizo vs. Dustin Jackson & "Wrestling's Rockstar" Ryan Howe.
Howe & Bizo start with Howe getting the better of the exchange. Dustin & Drew both tag in and fire away on each other. Drew blocks Dustin's patented dropkick and clotheslines him. Drew & Bizo double team Dustin while the ref has to keep Howe in his corner. Dustin starts to fire back against Drew, but they double clothesline each other. Howe & Bizo get the tags and Howe hits an inverted atomic drop and a hard right to the face. He hits a running knee, hits Drew on the apron, then delivers a neckbreaker drop for 2 as Drew breaks the pin. Howe throws Drew out of the ring. He kicks Bizo in the head and hits the Chart Topper. He tags Dustin, who hits the Derby City Dive, but Drew attacks Howe and kicks him out of the ring. He stomps Dustin, then Bizo hits a Bizo Bomb on Dustin for the 3.
WINNERS: BIZO & DREW by pinfall.

"The Nephilim"
 D'mone Solavino vs. William Lutz.
Lutz goes right after D'mone and they exchange blows. D'mone runs Lutz into the corner. He targets the injured ribs, then rips the bandages off Lutz. D'mone locks him up in a submission. D'mone misses a charge in the corner. Lutz kicks him into the corner and runs into a back elbow. D'mone goes up top, but Lutz tries to meet him. D'mone hits him down, but Lutz gets up again and hits a Spanish Fly and they both crash to the mat. The ref calls for the bell and throws up the X.
NO CONTEST.
After the match, D'mone attacks Lutz and wraps him up again around the ringpost to further injure him.

SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT OPEN CHALLENGE: "Big Money" Dimes
 vs. "Hollywood" Adam Swayze (w/"Co-Star" Rex).
Dimes attacks Adam and chokes him with his boot in the corner. Adam comes back and takes control before running into the turnbuckle. The ref gets on Rex as he tries to hand Adam the clapboard. Dimes gets a handful of protein powder and accidentally throws it in the ref's eyes. As Rex tries to clean the ref's eyes and Adam hits a spinebuster, Dimes grabs more protein powder and throws it in Adam's eyes, then connects with the Change Maker for the 3.
WINNER: DIMES by pinfall.

"The Black Widow"
 Harley Fairfax vs. "Double A" Arie Alexander.
Harley with a side headlock and some hits. She kicks her, but Arie hits back and dives off the top rope on her. She dropkicks Harley and hits an x-factor for the 3.
WINNER: ARIE by pinfall.

Reverend Ronnie Roberts is out for the Good Word with Tony Gunn
Ronnie asks about him and the National Champion wanting to go after tag team gold. Gunn says it's more money in his pocket. Ronnie says he is doing a good job listening to him like a good little puppy. He then asks about him wearing Kal Herro's jacket. Kal says he made a mistake last week, turning his back to Tony. As he was down, he heard all of "Kal's Pals" rooting for him to get back up and keep fighting. Tony says he will not fight him again. Jessie Godderz appears on the screen from Los Angeles and tells Tony to hold on. He says to give Kal a chance. Tony says he's done with this show, he's done with Godderz, and done with Kal. He tells Kal he'll accept a match next week for his fanny pack and take that from him also. He'll regret everything he said!

#1 CONTENDER 
FOR THE NATIONAL HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE LADDER MATCH QUALIFIER: "Mr. Juicy" Luscious Lawrence (w/"Hollyhood" Haley J) vs. Brandon Tate.
Tate with a quick roll-up attempt for 2. Quick moves from Tate, but he leaps off the ropes and crashes into Luscious, not fazing him. Tate connects with a dropkick, sending him to the apron. He dropkicks again, knocking him to the floor. Tate dives out on him. Back inside, Luscious takes control. Tate with a step-up enziguri. He leaps in on Luscious and fires away. Off the ropes, a running clothesline takes Luscious down. Tate with a dropkick. Luscious misses a charge and Tate with a cutter. Tony Gunn comes out to ringside. He whispers in Haley's ear. Luscious with a hard forearm shot. He goes for the powerslam, but Tate slides out and hits Sliced Bread. Haley distracts the ref, Gunn gets in and hits Tate with a reverse DDT. Luscious covers for 2. Gunn then whispers something to Luscious. Luscious locks in a full nelsona s the ref tries to get Gunn out of the ring. Haley comes in to slap Tate, but slaps Luscious by accident. Tate kisses Haley. Tate DDT's Luscious and the ref tries to keep Gunn from getting in the ring with a chair. Luscious grabs Tate and goes into the ropes where Haley hits Tate with the sock of rocks from the outside. Luscious covers for the 3.
WINNER: LUSCIOUS by pinfall.

 Throughout the night, we see Omar Amir go to a club that we later find out is Ca$h Flo's. Ca$h says what he has done is nothing personal, it's business. Omar says it is his business, because he cost him the National Title and a lot of money. Omar sits a drink down hard on the table and they end up in a bar fight.

This ended the TV taping.
