OVW TV 1135: Kentucky Proud

This is the OVW Report for Thursday, May 13, 2021.

Tonight, the Kentucky Heavyweight Title Tournament begins! Tony Gunn faces Shane Mercer, and Tony Bizo faces Chris Michaels in first round matchups. Plus, Dustin Jackson collides with Mahabali Shera and much more!

PRE-SHOW:
Eric Cornish is the ring announcer.

"The Legacy of Brutality"
: Steve Michaels, Big Zo, & "Hood Ninja" Hy Zaya (w/"The East End Villain" Josh Ashcraft) vs. William Lutz, "Mr. Zero Gravity" AJ Daniels, & KarDaniel "Demolition" Dunn
.
Hy takes Lutz into the corner and chops him. He delivers a hip toss slam, and tags Zo. Zo splashes him in the corner, then distracts the ref as Steve & Hy pound Lutz in their corner. Lutz gets stuck in the wrong corner and the L.O.B. work him over. Off the ropes, Dunn blind tags. He tries to hit Steve from behind, but Steve swats him off. Dunn then gets pounded on in the wrong corner, and squashed by Steve. Hy tags in and kicks Dunn in the ribcage. Steve tags back in and stomps him. Dunn gets loose and tags AJ. AJ starts to fire away on Steve, but misses a moonsault off the ropes. Hy & Zo knock Lutz & Dunn off the apron, then Zo & Steve hold AJ up for Hy to dropkick him from the top rope to get the 3.
WINNERS: LEGACY by pinfall.

OVW TV (HOUR 1):
Shannon the Dude & Bryan Kennison are on commentary, Eric Cornish & AJ McKay are the ring announcers.

Brandon Espinosa vs. "Rockstar" Ryan Howe
.
Espy attacks Howe as he is on the apron. Inside, he hits a running cross body for 2. Espy hits Howe and chokes him in the ropes. Howe catches Espy and slams him, then goes for a rock 'n' roll fist drop, but Espy kicks him in the head. Espy continues to choke him, then pounds on him. Howe catches him with a jawjacker, but Espy goes off the ropes and clotheslines him in the back of the head. He covers for 2. Howe comes back with a dropkick. Both men are down. They get up and Espy yanks Howe down by his hair, pulling a small chunk out in the process. He locks the neck up in a submission. Howe tries to work up, but Espy hits him. Howe returns fire with a slap to the face. Howe fires away, then connects with the reverse DDT. He hits the rock 'n' roll fist drop. He catches Espy with an inverted atomic drop, then stomps Espy in the midsection. Howe goes up, but Espy pulls him off the ropes and Howe crashes down. He hits a blue thunder bomb for 2. He goes for the brainbuster, but Howe slides out and hits the neckbreaker drop for the 3.
WINNER: HOWE by pinfall.
A more intense showing from Espy, but Howe powers through to get the win.

Dimes comes to the ring. He says he has to first promote his protein shaker 10000 available at the concession stand so everyone can look as big and juicy as him. He goes on to talk about the Kentucky Heavyweight Title Tournament, then says he needs a tune-up. He needs an announcer, and calls on Eric Cornish to get in the ring. He tries on Eric's jacket and says it is too small for him. He then tells Eric it's his lucky night as he delivers a Change Maker to him, and covers him for the 3.

"War Hoss"
: Crosshairs Kelly & Pat the Bruiser
 vs. "The Box Office Blonds""Hollywood" Adam Swayze & "Co-Star" Rex.
Pat & Kelly take the fight to Adam. They hit him in the corner, chop him, then Pat slams Kelly on Adam for 2. Rex blind tags and clotheslines Kelly. He stomps him, then tags Adam back in. Adam kicks Kelly in the head and covers for 2. Pat gets a hot tag and fires away, knocking Rex off the apron. He takes Adam down for 2. Things break loose and as the ref tries to get Pat back in his corner, Rex and Adam hit the Director's Cut on Kelly for the 3.
WINNERS: BOX OFFICE BLONDS by pinfall.
The Tate Twins want their titles back, but the Box Office Blonds are also on the hunt for tag team gold as well. Will either team gain an upper hand with Jessie Godderz & Tony Gunn in their sights?

"The Mayan Mauler"
Drew Hernandez vs. AJ Cazana.
Drew takes the fight to AJ early. He pounds him, but runs into a spinebuster. Drew comes back and hits a spinebuster of his own, then a huge shoulder block. He slams AJ and kicks him. He covers for 2. Drew with a snapmare, then he smacks AJ in the face. AJ returns a slap and clotheslines Drew. In the corner, AJ clubs him, then backs up and splashes him. He goes up for the 10-count punches, but after 5, Drew grabs him and delivers the Mayan Apocalypse for the 3.
WINNER: DREW by pinfall.

Tony Gunn comes out and says he has one simple question. Why is Kal Herro working at OVW? He was the concession stand guy, then he was cleaning. He says Kal & Al Snow are both conveniently not here tonight. He will get answers though, and as far as the Kentucky Heavyweight Title Tournament? That title is as good as his.

"The Indian Lion"
 Mahabali Shera vs. Dustin Jackson
.
Shera powers Dustin down. Dustin fires back and dropkicks Shera in the corner. Drew Hernandez comes out to ringside, distracting Dustin. He goes for a bulldog, but Shera throws him off. He hits a chokeslam backbreaker, then suplexes Dustin back into the ring from the apron. Shera controls with his power. He drops two elbows and locks in a submission. Dustin works back up and runs into a big boot off the ropes. Drew keeps getting on the apron and yelling. Shera pulls him in and hits the Sky High. He turns into a running boot from Dustin for 2. Dustin charges back at him, but also gets the Sky High for the 3.
WINNER: SHERA by pinfall.
The animosity between Drew & Dustin keeps boiling up, but Shera was not even fazed by their problems. Is Shera the favorite to win the Kentucky Heavyweight Title Tournament?

OVW TV (HOUR 2):
Matt Jones, Shannon the Dude, & Bryan Kennison are on commentary, AJ McKay is the ring announcer.

KENTUCKY HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE TOURNAMENT 1ST ROUND
"The Complete Package" Tony Bizo (w/Professor Ricky Jones) vs. "Headliner" Chris Michaels (w/Terry Meiners).
Bizo shoves Chris. Chris shoves back and Bizo swings at him. Chris ducks and fires away. He goes for a crossface, but can't lock it in. Bizo catches Chris with a slam, then misses an elbow drop. Bizo back with an uppercut. He knees Chris in the face and covers for 2. Chris fires back and covers for 2. He hits a kick. Bizo reverses a throw, but eats a boot. Bizo back with a Bizo Bottom for 2. He goes for the Bizo Bomb, but Chris slides out and locks in the crossface. Jones gets on the apron and causes a distraction as Bizo taps. Chris gets up and shoves the ref trying to get his attention. Jones gets the ref's attention back on him as Bizo recovers and hits Chris with the Bizo Bomb for the 3!
WINNER: BIZO by pinfall.

"Superior"
Tony Evans vs. 
"Mr. Juicy" Luscious Lawrence (w/Women's Champion "Hollyhood" Haley J).
They lock up and Evans goes behind Luscious. Luscious swivels his hips, throwing Evans off his game. Luscious with a big back body drop across the ring. Evans pokes him in the eye. Luscious fires back, then gets caught in a quick powerslam off the ropes for 2. Evans locks in a chinlock. Luscious slings him off and clotheslines him. He hits 2 huge atomic drops and a backdrop. Luscious delivers the One Night Stand and gets the 3.
WINNER: LUSCIOUS by pinfall.
Although he came up short for the National Title, Luscious remains on a hot streak. How far can he go in the Kentucky Heavyweight Title Tournament?

Reverend Ronnie Roberts is out for the Good Word. He says he is in the Kentucky Heavyweight Title Tournament and although he hasn't wrestled in a while, it's just like riding a bike.
Ca$h Flo
 is tonight's special guest. He says the reign of brutality has begun and it doesn't matter what's next. He tells
Omar Amir that he is not Ca$h Flo, and he is no longer OVW Champion! Ca$h says he won fair and square, all by his lonesome, but then gets interrupted by Omar.
Omar says he cheated to win 3 times, and a victory without honor is an empty victory. He tells Ca$h that's in the past, but he's here about today. He's here to demand his rematch for the OVW Championship.
Josh Ashcraft says timeout, stupid. He tells Omar he doesn't have an automatic rematch. Ca$h says we can have a little fun here. He tells Omar he can start from the very bottom and work his way up. If he makes it, then he might give him a rematch. It won't be easy, it might not be hard, but he promises it will be brutal. Omar accepts the challenge as the Legacy of Brutality hits the ring. Omar tries to fight them off, but gets clocked with the title belt.

NON-TITLE TRIPLE THREAT MATCH: Zoey Skye vs. Mickie Knuckles vs. Women's Champion "Hollyhood" Haley J (w/"Mr. Juicy" Luscious Lawrence).
Zoey gets shoved down by Mickie, then Haley tries to hit and kick Mickie, but Mickie catches her foot and slings it into Zoey's face. The fight goes to the floor. Zoey locks in a sleeper on Mickie, but Mickie slings her down on the floor. She goes for a senton, but Zoey moves. Zoey rolls her in for 2. They fight into the corner, where Haley German suplexes Mickie off the corner. Zoey goes for the cross body, but Haley rolls through and grabs the tights for the 3!
WINNER: HALEY by pinfall.

KENTUCKY HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE TOURNAMENT 1ST ROUND: 
Tag Team Champion "Shotgun" Tony Gunn (w/Richie Farmer) vs. "The Iron Demon" Shane Mercer (w/Vince Marrow).
Gunn tries to plow Shane down off the ropes twice. He tries to leapfrog, but Shane grabs him out of the air and slams him. Shane chops him, bench presses him, and they fight on the floor. Back inside, Tony sunset flips for 2. Shane reverses for 2. Shane with a belly to back suplex for 2. Shane takes him up for the flip slam, but Tony hits out. He delivers the release vertical suplex for 2. Tony hits the knee from the top rope for 2. Tony chokes him and knees him. Shane fires back with hits and clotheslines. Shane goes for a suplex, but Tony knees him in the head and hits the reverse DDT for 2. Tony grabs a chair, but Vince takes it away. Shane hits Tony with a release suplex. He powerslams him for 2. They exchange blows in the middle of the ring. Tony delivers a Killshot and gtes the 3!
WINNER: GUNN by pinfall.

This ended the TV taping.
