OVW TV #872: "This Ring Ain't Big Enough"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, May 4, 2016. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 10PM, and online on Monday at In this episode, we have more qualifying matches for the OVW TV Title Tournament to be held at the May 14 Saturday Night Special featuring Tyler Matrix vs. Mickey Muscles, Ringmaster vs. Mitch Huff, Tony Gunn vs. Daniel Eads, plus much more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

Trevor Steele defeats Damion. Referee AJ Lucio immediately sends Dapper Dan, Ringmaster, & Scarlet to the back. Damion's offense is trying to bite Steele. Steele grabs Damion, hits a huge overhead slam, and this is over quick as he gets the 3.

"The Party Starter" Bud Dwight defeats Brother Reed. Reed hits Dwight with a spinning kick, standing moonsault, some dropkicks, and a splash in the corner, but can't put him away. He misses a 2nd splash, and Dwight hits his Party Time Splash. He connects with the high knee, then the Hangover for the 3.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on WBNA ion-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 11AM and 10PM (check local listings) and on OVW's official website Mondays at

Gilbert Corsey & Shannon the Dude are on commentary, and Gilbert is also the ring announcer.

OVW TV TITLE QUALIFIER: "The Young Lion" Tyler Matrix defeats Mickey Muscles. A fast paced match. Muscles connects with a roundhouse kick and charges Matrix in the corner. Matrix flips him over, but Muscles lands on the apron and kicks him in the head again. Muscles jumps up on the top rope and flies off, but Matrix connects with a pele kick in mid-air for the 3.

OVW TV TITLE QUALIFIER: "The Chosen One" Mitch Huff defeats Ringmaster. Huff hobbles out, still milking the injury suffered last week at the hands of Rocco Bellagio & Daniel Eads. Ringmaster targets the bad leg and works it over, but Huff ducks a leap off the top rope from Ringmaster and nails him with the Athlete's Foot out of nowhere for the 3.
After the match, Daniel Eads & Josh Ashcraft approach the ring, but Big Jon runs out and Eads & Ashcraft retreat. Jon says this is not happening again, and tells Josh that if he sees Rocco, to tell him he is looking for him.

Dapper Dan Van Zandt (w/Scarlet, Damion, & Ringmasterdefeats Houdini.
Dan punishes Houdini for most of the match. Houdini gets a small burst offense, hitting a stunner, but Dan easily kicks out. Dan then connects with the Death Valley Driver for the 3.
The Circus looks to continue its assault on Houdini after the match, but Trevor Steele comes out, flips Ringmaster, slings Damion around the ring by his chain, and stares Dapper Dan away from using a steel chair.

OVW TV TITLE QUALIFIER: Tony Gunn defeats "The Man of Tomorrow" Daniel Eads (w/Josh Ashcraft). A very good back and forth match. Both men work over each other's shoulders during the match. After a distraction by Josh, Eads has the upper hand on Gunn, but Eads gets shocked when Gunn slides out of the Weight of the World and rolls him up for the 3.
After the match, Eads hits Gunn with a superman punch, but Big Jon runs out and chokeslams Eads.
Rocco Bellagio's music hits and he comes out to brawl with Big Jon. Dean Hill comes out and says these two men can't be contained in the ring. Therefore, Dean Hill's law says that at the May 14th SNS, the OVW Heavyweight Title match between them will be "No Holds Barred"!

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

The Assassin defeats The Red Flyer after hitting a big slam.

Big Jon defeats Justin Smooth after hitting the chokeslam.
As always, thanks for reading!
