This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, August 24 , 2016. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 10PM, and online on Monday at www.ovwrestling.com/tv. In this episode, Bud Dwight defends the TV Title against Trevor Steele, Hy Zaya meets up with Tyler Matrix, Rev. Stuart Miles has a good word about his upcoming OVW Heavyweight Title shot against Rocco Bellagio, plus more!
Without further ado:
Here we go...
Pre-Show Dark Matches:
OVW WOMEN'S TITLE: "Amazing" Maria James (c) defeats Jessie Belle. Before the match, the referee takes away a pair of brass knucks and a chain from Maria, and then pats down Jessie to find a small chain and a bigger chain. Once the match gets underway, both women use underhanded tactics like pokes to the eyes and trying to hold the tights and ropes for leverage. In the end, the referee kicks Jessie's hands off the ropes and Maria rolls her up with the tights where the ref can't see it for the 3.
That
concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching
the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report.
Again, you can check it out on WBNA ion-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 11AM and 10PM (check local listings) and on OVW's official website Mondays at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.
Gilbert Corsey, Shannon the Dude, & Ron Hed are on commentary, and Ron is the ring announcer.
OVW TELEVISION TITLE: Trevor Steele defeats "Party Starter" Bud Dwight (c) by DQ. A really good match that was mostly controlled by Steele. Dwight came back with the high knee, kick to the face in the corner, and went for the Hangover. Steele slid out and hit a slam off his shoulders, but Dwight kicks out at 2 as Stephon Smith runs out with a chair. He cracks Steele across the back and then chokes Dwight with it. He hits Steele again in the ribs on the way out and yells that the TV Title belongs to him.
Gilbert Corsey brings out "The Pastor of Disaster" Rev. Stuart Miles
and says that the Stairway to Heaven Match will be like a ladder match, but there will also be tables around ringside. Before you can climb the ladder, you must put your opponent through the table.
Rocco Bellagio comes out with a ladder and asks Stu if he really picked him as his opponent, and picked a ladder match which is Rocco's favorite. Rocco says he will send him down to Plungetown. Both of them sign the contract for the match, and Rocco sucker punches Stu. He tries to Plunge him through the table, but Stu fires back. He goes off the ropes, but eats a big boot. Rocco sits him on the top rope and sets up the table.
He tries to Super Plunge Stu off the top rope, but Stu fires back with some "healing" slaps to the head, and knocks Rocco off and through the table.
"Hood Ninja" Hy Zaya (w/Josh Ashcraft & Big Zo) defeats "The Young Lion" Tyler Matrix. Matrix hits some kicks to the head, but Hy Zaya moves on the swanton attempt. Hy takes Matrix down and goes for the Ninja Vanish, but Matrix moves. Matrix kicks Josh off the apron, but turns into a spinebuster from Hy Zaya. Hy goes back up and connects with Ninja Vanish for the 3.
Tony Gunn comes out and says the last few months he has been a different person. He apologizes to everyone in the locker room, watching at home, and the fans in the arena. He got to thinking about his start in the business and knows there are several new talents in the back. He offers them a chance to come out and face him.
"Shotgun" Tony Gunn defeats Kevin Giza after offering a handshake, only to hit him and put him away pretty quickly with the YTO.
After the match, he says you can love him or hate him, but he is the best wrestler here.
"The Legacy of Brutality": Big Zo & "Hood Ninja" Hy Zaya (w/Josh Ashcraft) prior to Big Zo's match with Robbie Walker.
#1 CONTENDER for the OVW TV TITLE: "The King of Hairstyle" Robbie Walker (w/Torey Payne) defeats Big Zo (w/Josh Ashcraft & "Hood Ninja" Hy Zaya) by DQ. Walker tries to talk his way out of the match, but Zo grabs him and is totally destroying him when Tyler Matrix comes out and takes out Hy Zaya at ringside. He then gets in the ring and gets double revenge. He superkicks Walker which he enjoys after their feud involving Torey, but it also disqualifies Zo from winning.
After the match, Zo squashes Walker against the ropes and Hy Zaya sets him up in the corner where Zo delivers 2 Zo Bombs.
Gilbert Corsey shows footage of a show in Charlestown, Indiana at a bar called the Rusty Bucket where Ryan Howe was back playing a gig. Dean Hill introduces him and Howe plays guitar, but gets interrupted by Rocco Bellagio. They show them getting into a brawl that has to be broken up, and back in the arena, Gilbert introduces the owners. They say that tickets are $10 for a show there on Tuesday, September 13th where Ryan Howe will face Rocco Bellagio in the main event.
HARDCORE MATCH (If Adam wins, he gets an OVW Southern Tag Team Title shot with any partner he chooses): Adam Revolver defeats Mad Man Pondo. Adam is in control and has Pondo down for a pin, but the Van Zandts run out and attack Adam. Rev. Stu Miles runs out and helps by Plungering Damion out of the ring, "healing" Dapper Dan, and hitting a double underhook suplex on Pondo. Rocco Bellagio runs out and Plunges Stu. The Mexicutioner then comes out and takes the Van Zandts out, helping Adam get the 3 on Pondo after clocking Pondo in the head with a stop sign.
After the match, Adam says he isn't sure who he will pick for a partner, but he's going to go find out why Mexicutioner got involved!

This ended the TV taping.
Post-Show Dark Matches:
Rocco comes out and the two brawl and have to be broken up by the locker room.
As always, thanks for reading!
I don't understand why Trevor Steele was D.Q.'d when Stephon Smith hit him with the chair first. Steele should have either won the match by D.Q. or better yet, it should have been ruled a no-contest. SMH on this decision.
ReplyDeleteSteele did win by DQ......
Deleteat the taping they announced Bud Dwight as the winner
