OVW TV #970: "DL3's Major Plot Twist"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, March 21, 2018. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 9PM, and online at www.ovwrestling.com/ovw-media.html. In this episode, Dean Hill sends in a major announcement about Michael Hayes' match at the next SNS, LJ defends the TV Title against Chace Destiny, The Top Guys defend the OVW Southern Tag Team Titles against the Bro Godz and Cardinal & a mystery partner, plus more!

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

William Lutz & Eddie Knight defeat Christian Hernandez & Drew Crawft. Lutz with a side headlock on Drew. He hits a hip toss and dropkick for 2. He tags in Eddie. Off the ropes, Drew shoulder blocks him down, but then runs into a drop toehold. Eddie tries a quick pin for 2. Lutz comes back in with a side headlock. Drew takes Lutz down by his head. Drew & Christian hit 2 back body drops on Lutz. Lutz gets a tag to Eddie, but Eddie is then worked over for a bit. Eddie gets a hot tag to Lutz who fires away with kicks on Drew. Christian runs in, but Lutz moves and Christian flies out of the ring. Lutz sets Drew up near the corner and connects with the moonsault off the top for the 3.

Big Zo & "Livewire" KTD defeat BGB & Ashton Cole. Zo takes Cole down early and hits him with the Are You Serious legdrop for 2. He tags in KTD, but KTD is taken down by Cole. BGB tags in and locks in a side headlock. He tags Cole back in and they hit a double vertical suplex. They continue to work over KTD until he flips off BGB's shoulders and tags Zo. Zo runs over Cole & BGB. He has BGB up for a slam, but Cole dropkicks BGB on top of him for 2. They hammer on Zo, and try to suplex him. Zo reverses and suplexes both of them. Cole rolls out and Zo slams BGB in the corner. He goes up and hits the Zo Bomb for the 3.

"Varsity Babe" Meg defeats Valerie Vermin. Meg controls with the clear size advantage early, but Val has her chase her around and into the ring where she stomps Meg as she slides in. She works her over, but Meg comes back with some big slams and a big side slam. She hits a running powerslam, then picks her up. Val slides off and kicks her in the back of the leg. She locks in a sleeper, but Meg stands up with her on her back, flips her around, and powerbombs her for the 3.

OVW TELEVISION TITLE: Chace Destiny (w/Amon & "The Void": Houdini & Nigel) defeats "The River City Dragon" Logan James (c) by DQ. Quick back and forth action in the early going. Chace takes LJ out with a big back body drop that sends LJ rolling out of the ring. Chace goes after him and tries to throw him into the steel steps, but LJ reverses. Chace comes back and takes LJ down. He only gets a 2. He hits him with an abdominal stretch slam, but LJ comes back with a chinbuster and uppercut. LJ fires away in the ropes. He hits a hard back elbow, then a superkick. He locks in an STF as Nigel gets on the apron to cause a distraction. Houdini hits LJ, and Amon hands Chace a chair. Chace swings wild, and LJ ducks. He kicks Chace and DDT's him on the chair. He then grabs the chair and hits Chace across the back and the ref calls for the bell.

After the match, LJ gets attacked by Amon & the Void.

Amon wraps the chain around LJ's neck, but Billy O & Aloicious Hamilton run out to fight them off. LJ takes off with the belt and heads to the back.

As Gilbert Corsey welcomes everyone to the show, he asks Dr. Ted McNaler about his "hair". Ted has a wig on and says this is his natural hair that grows fast, because of all the nutrients that surround his brain. Sam Thompson sneaks out from behind and pulls it off to reveal Ted's shaved head.

"The Real Deal" Randall Floyd defeats Flex Murphy (w/"Shotgun" Tony Gunn). Randall with the early offense, but Flex comes back and controls for a bit. He rams Floyd into the side of the ring and locks in a sleeper. Randall hits a chinbuster. Gunn causes a distraction and Flex regains control. Floyd fires back with a big clothesline out of the corner and again Gunn jumps on the apron. Dapper Dan runs out and chases Gunn around the ring and to the back with the kendo stick. Flex hits Floyd from behind, but Floyd fires back and hits a cutter for the 1-2-3.

"Livewire" KTD comes to the ring for action, but Gilbert Corsey is handed a letter at commentary. He interrupts and tells KTD that he will be rescheduled for action at a later date, but right now he has an important announcement from Dean Hill. He calls out Michael Hayes. Hayes says he knows what's in the letter.

He says it's to announce the new general manager of OVW, Josh Ashcraft. Josh comes out and says he bought some stock in OVW, so since Dean isn't here, that makes him the majority owner around here. He says tonight, Cardinal will team with DL3 and not a partner of his choosing. Gilbert interrupts and says that's not what the letter says. It says that at the April 7 SNS, Michael Hayes will defend the OVW Heavyweight Title in a tables, ladders, and chairs match against not one, not two, but three other men!

ANARCHY RULES QUALIFIER: "The Vet" Apollo defeats Billy O. Billy fires away, big boots Apollo, and hits Apollo with a cookie sheet. He hits a spinebuster on it for 2. Apollo low blows him and chokes him with an axe handle. He hits him with a giant rubber rat. He gets out barbed wire, but Billy kicks him and regains control.

Amon & the Void come out and attack Billy. Aloicious Hamilton comes out to fight with Amon, but gets taken out. Billy fires back on the Void, but Apollo hits him from behind with a Russian leg sweep with the axe handle for the 3.

OVW SOUTHERN TAG TEAM TITLE TRIPLE THREAT MATCH: Cardinal & DL3 defeat "The Top Guys": Kevin Giza & "The Winter Swoldier" Adam Slade (c) and "The Bro Godz": Colton Cage & Dustin Jackson (w/Dimes & Jaylee). The Top Guys double team Dustin early. DL3 tags in, but is taken down and out as well. Slade & Giza go to fly out, but DL3 & the Bros move. Dustin comes back and takes Giza down with a big splash off the top. He hits him with a beautiful dropkick and a spinebuster. Cage tags in and hits the "B-R-O" in the corner. They hit "Bro 69", but Cardinal breaks the pin. Giza gets a hot tag to Slade. Slade delivers uppercuts galore to the Bros and is in control when Shiloh Jonze runs out to "help". He has a loaded fist, and goes to hit Colton, but accidentally clocks Slade. He runs off and Cardinal tags himself in on Slade. Cardinal is in control, and has Dustin tapping out, but DL3 causes a distraction. Dustin tags out to Cage. Cage goes after Cardinal as Cardinal argues with DL3. Cardinal moves, but Cage is able to hold up from hitting DL3. Cardinal hits Colton with a faceplant, then slaps DL3 hard in the chest. The ref considers it a tag. Cardinal & DL3 argue again, and Cardinal superkicks DL3. DL3 falls on top of Cage and gets the 3! Cardinal, Dustin, Dimes, Jaylee, & the Top Guys are all in shock!

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

Dapper Dan defeats Dimes (w/DL3 & Jaylee). Dan takes Dimes down and drops a knee. He stomps amudhole in the corner, but gets hit from behind with a camera by DL3. Dimes tries to work over Dan, but Dan fires back and takes Dimes down with a big side slam. DL3 gets on the apron. Jaylee slides the camera to Dimes, and Dimes hits Dan in the gut. He runs off the ropes, but right into a Death Valley Driver for the 3.

Amon (w/"The Void": Houdini, Chace Destiny, & Nigel) defeats "The Boy Wonder" Sam Thompson. They have a test of strength that Amon controls, but Sam kicks out of it and hits an enziguri. He hits a superkick that knocks Amon out of the ring. He goes to fly out, but Amon clocks him in the ropes. He slams Sam on the floor and chops him against the barricade. He hits him off the announce table, then rolls him back in. He tries to pin, then chokes him. He stretches Sam out with a knee in the back. Sam tries to work his way out, but Amon hits him. He locks the stretch back in. Sam gets out and hits some forearms in the corner. He drop toeholds him into the turnbuckle and hits a big DDT. He kicks him in the face, but gets caught with a huge chop off the ropes. Amon connects with the pedigree for the 3 and the win.
