OVW TV #979: Rockin' Robin

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, May 23, 2018. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 9PM, and online at www.ovwrestling.com/ovw-media.html. In this episode, Logan James defends the TV Title against Big Zo, the Round Robin continues with Ryan Howe facing Randall Floyd, then later facing Justin Smooth, plus more!

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

OVW Anarchy Champion "The Man" Dapper Dan defeats Ashton Cove. Cove with aside headlock, but Dan throws him off. He shoulder blocks him, then splashes him in the corner. He goes for the Death Valley Driver, but Cove slides off onto the outside of the apron and pulls Dan's head down across the top rope. He hits Dan's head into the top turnbuckle and connects with a slingblade for 2. Cove goes to grab Dan, but Dan hits him with the Death  Valley Driver for the 3.


Josh Ashcraft comes out and says his 1% ownership was sold to Al Snow, but he has reapplied for his managerial license and is keeping his eyes open for the next talent to manage and get the title draped over his shoulder.


Cardinal defeats Christian Hernandez. Cardinal with a quick takedown and some mat wrestling. He chops Hernandez hard in the corner. He takes him down again and chokes him in the ropes. Hernandez reverses a throw in the corner and charges in with a shoulder. He misses another charge and Cardinal knees him in the face. He takes him down into a chokehold submission for the tapout.

KTD comes out and says he is tired of being looked over, he challenges anyone from the back. He doesn't care how big they are or how much experience they have...
The Mexicutioner defeats "Livewire" KTD. KTD runs into a massive spear from Mex, and this one is over quick as Mex gets the 3.


Kevin Giza defeats William Lutz. Several quick exchanges early. Giza with some arm drags, then a diving dropkick through the ropes. Lutz back inside with a cross body off the ropes. He hits a running knee. Giza back with a drop toehold and 619. He hits a knee to the head off the top, then the shining wizard for the 3.

Dr. Ted McNaler, Mike Lacett, & Gilbert Corsey are on commentary, and Brittany is the ring announcer.

Jaylee defeats Torey Payne. Jaylee attacks Torey as she poses in the corner and chokes her in the ropes. She focuses on working over and even biting her arm. Torey never gets in any offense as Jaylee locks in an armbreaker for the tapout.

"The Boy Wonder" Sam Thompson defeats Dimes. They exchange side headlocks. Sam with an arm drag and a kick. He flies off the top with a missile dropkick, but Dimes pulls him into the turnbuckle. He misses a curb stomp and Sam comes back with a clothesline, twisting neckbreaker, and the Duck Call for the 3.

"The Real Deal" Randall Floyd defeats "Wrestling's Rockstar" Ryan Howe. Justin Smooth comes out and joins commentary. They lock up and Floyd takes Howe down off the ropes. Howe with an armbar. Off the ropes, Howe takes Floyd down. Floyd locks in the arm from behind. Howe elbows him in the face, then plows him down off the ropes. Off the ropes again, Howe with a backslide for 2. Floyd comes back with a rollup for 2. In the corner, they go back and forth, then shove each other. Howe pops Floyd in the jaw, then hits him into the corner. Floyd goes for the cutter, and Howe blocks it and rolls out. Floyd suplexes him back in the ring from the apron. He dropkicks Howe back out of the ring. Howe drags him out with him and hits him into the side of the ring. He kicks him in the head from the apron and rolls him in to break the count. He goes to kick him again, but Floyd pulls him down. He rolls Howe in and goes for the cutter, but Howe shoves him off. Howe with the sliding uppercut and rollup for 2. Off the ropes, Floyd with a powerslam for 2. He locks in a side headlock into the corner. He runs into a back elbow, and Howe jumps out of the corner with a reverse cross body for 2. Howe slams him and hits the fist drop. He snapmares him and goes up top. He jumps off, but Floyd moves, and Howe comes down hard on his knee. Floyd drops him and locks in the modified Boston crab. Howe kicks him off and hits an armbreaker. He locks in the Whammy Bar, but Floyd fights out. He runs into a boot. Howe goes for another reverse cross body, but Floyd catches him with a cutter in mid-air for the 3!
After the match, Justin Smooth is laughing. Howe doesn't take kindly to it and challenges him to the final match of the Round Robin tournament tonight. Smooth says he can take a few minutes out of his time to put his boot in Howe's face!

OVW TELEVISION TITLE MATCH: "The River City Dragon" Logan James (c) defeats Big Zo. LJ with some quick kicks at the massive legs of Zo. Zo catches him and hits him in the corner. LJ goes off the ropes and can't budge Zo. Zo shoulder blocks him down and goes for the leg drop, but LJ rolls out. Zo goes after him and hits him on the outside. LJ rolls all the way to the other side of the ring and tries to shoulder his way in. Zo grabs him and launches him back in the ring. LJ rolls out the other side again. He charges at LJ, but LJ moves and Zo runs into the ringpost. LJ rolls him back in. He hits a missile dropkick off the top, but Zo stays on his feet. LJ hits him and goes off the ropes. He hits a back elbow, then tries again and Zo catches him. LJ gets out and attacks the knee. He gets Zo down, but Zo gets right back up and plows over LJ. He hits him into the corner and hits the cartwheel butt bump and back elbows. He hits a fallaway slam and LJ tries to fake a shoulder injury. As the ref turns to signal LJ can still go, he low blows Zo. He then pins him for the 3.
After the match, Sam Thompson runs out and tries to tell the ref what happened. LJ super kicks him and hits him on the outside. He hits him into the steel steps and walks away still TV Champion.

Shannon the Dude interrupts Gilbert Corsey, Mike Lacett, & Ted McNaler as they talk about the upcoming Saturday Night Special. He gets into a confrontation with Mike Lacett and says he's the World Heavyweight Radio Champion and his wife would verify that after last night. Lacett gets in the ring and challenges him to a match right now. STD runs away as Lacett chases him around the ringside area. STD says Lacett is a coward and calls him a whiny b****. Gilbert, Ted, and the referees have to keep them apart as STD takes off.

"Wrestling's Rockstar" Ryan Howe defeats "The Trinidad Titan" Justin Smooth. Randall Floyd comes out and joins commentary. They shove and Howe hits the sliding uppercut. He hits Smooth in the corner, but Smooth drops him across the top turnbuckle. He throws Howe into the corner and Howe crashes to the outside. They exchange blows and Smooth rolls Howe back in. Howe with a small package for 2. Smooth with a big clothesline for 2. Off the ropes, Smooth hits the spinebuster and covers him for 2. Howe back with a dropkick that knocks Smooth out of the ring. He kicks Smooth in the head from the apron and hits him off the apron. He rolls him in and lines him up, Smooth moves and connects with a bicycle kick. Howe smartly rolls out of the ring. Howe pulls himself back up and Smooth goes for another bicycle kick, but gets hung up on the top rope. Howe hits the Guitar Solo for the 3.

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

OVW Southern Tag Team Champions "The Bro Godz": Colton Cage & Dustin Jackson defeat Shiloh Jonze & DL3. Shiloh says he is looking for a new best friend, and DL3 is looking for new members of his production team. The Bros throw Shiloh & DL3 into the corner and Colton splashes them. DL3 eats a dropkick from Dustin, then they double "bro-plex" Shiloh. Dustin goes up top as the ref gets Colton in his corner and Shiloh shoves Dustin off. Shiloh & DL3 take control. Shiloh hits the jiggy knee drop for 2. DL3 tags in and hits a knee drop of his own. They then deliver a double knee drop. DL3 & Shiloh start arguing with one another. Dustin gets the hot tag and Colton shoves Shiloh into DL3. He hits the sideburn effect on Shiloh and tags Dustin back in. Dustin fires away with clotheslines and powerslams him. DL3 comes off the top, but is caught with an atomic drop. The Bros hit the Snapshot for the 3.
