OVW TV #980: Battle of the Airwaves

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, May 30, 2018. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 9PM, and online at www.ovwrestling.com/ovw-media.html. In this episode, Logan James defends the TV Title against Chace Destiny, the Bro Godz team with Cali in mixed 6-person action, plus more!

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

"Shotgun" Tony Gunn defeats Rump Thump. Rump with a shoulder block off the ropes after the initial lock-up. Gunn with a side headlock and knee, but off the ropes, Rump catches him and slams him. He charges in the corner, but Gunn moves. Gunn throws him to the opposite corner and Rump moves. Gunn pokes him in the eye and drops him with a slingblade. Gunn hits him and shoulders him in the corner. He hits a knee off the top rope to the face for 2. He pounds him and goes for a suplex, but Rump reverses. Rump rolls him up in a small package for 2. Gunn takes him down and tries to pin for 2. He twists the head and neck of Rump in a painful submission and drops the knee pad. He grates Rump's face against his knee. He goes up to the second rope and Rump moves from an air strike. He clotheslines him and hits an overhead neckbreaker off the second rope. He goes for the Thump, but Gunn moves and goes for the reverse DDT. Rump blocks and hits a big spinebuster for a near 3. He charges Gunn in the corner, but the ref is pulled in the way. Rump moves her, but it allows Gunn to go up and hit the knee strike for the 3.

Billy O defeats Shiloh Jonze. Shiloh comes out and says he has a tag title match this Saturday after he carried Jay Bradley to a win at the last Special. He will team with a partner of his choosing and if you don't like it, you can email ShilohJonze@WhoCares.com. Shiloh with a side headlock. Off the ropes, Billy hip tosses Shiloh and locks in a side headlock. Off the ropes again, Billy slams him and locks in an armbar. Shiloh reverses into a side headlock. Off the ropes, Billy boots Shiloh, clotheslines him, and hits a back elbow. He dropkicks him and goes to grab him, but Shiloh pulls his head down across the top rope. Shiloh leaps off the second rope into an atomic drop. Billy clotheslines him, then delivers a big boot. He goes for the high knee in the corner and connects. He goes for Oceans Eleven, but Shiloh rolls off his shoulders and to the outside. He says Billy is a cheater, he hasn't had time to stretch, and after Saturday he will be a champion. He doesn't have to put up with this. You might remember him from such exits as the fire alarm at WalMart, the high school prom, and this right now. Shiloh is counted out and leaves.

The Mexicutioner, Big Zo, & OVW Anarchy Champion "The Man" Dapper Dan defeats "Livewire" KTD, "The Vet" Apollo, & Flex Murphy. Apollo says he is going to show the other two how to do it, then sees Zo and tags out to KTD. KTD runs into a hip toss and a big slam. Zo goes for another, but KTD rakes the eyes. Apollo tags in and hits Zo, but Zo hits him into the corner. Apollo tags KTD back in. Zo hits a big press slam and tags Dan in. Dan with 3 big lefts and a wind-up right. He cannonballs him in the middle of the ring and tags in Mex. Mex shoulders him in the corner and delivers a fallaway slam. KTD tags Flex, and Flex attacks the knee of Mex. Apollo tags in and fires some shots, but Mex delivers some big right forearms back. He tags Flex, and Flex runs into a huge spinebuster. Dan tags in and Flex receives 2 release German suplexes. Zo tags in and hits a big suplex. Flex rakes the eyes and tags Apollo. Apollo turns and sees Zo back up and angry again and tags Flex & KTD both. KTD turns into a spear from Mex, and Flex gets a spinning Death Valley Driver from Dan. Dan & Mex stack up KTD & Flex for a double Zo bomb for the 3.

Dr. Ted McNaler & Gilbert Corsey are on commentary, and Brittany is the ring announcer.

Gilbert Corsey starts off with Shannon the Dude & Adam Revolver with him. Shannon says guess who is not here? Mike "La-suck". Mike Lacett comes out and says he was dealing with an emergency that turned out to be false. Revolver says he is not professional and is making things up about family emergencies. Lacett said he never said that and that makes him think he had something to do with it. He wants Shannon tonight, he doesn't want to wait for the Special. Shannon says he is not worthy enough. Maybe if he could beat Revolver. Revolver says he is thinking about renaming the sleeper hold to the Mike Lacett, because he puts everyone to sleep like he does with his wife. Lacett is angered and says he will fight Revolver tonight, then he's coming to kick Shannon's a** at the Special!

Cardinal defeats Christian Hernandez. Cardinal goes right after Christian, taking him down and locking in a leg submission. Cardinal is very aggressive and uses alot of mat wrestling and submissions throughout. Christian gets in a few blows in the corner, but Cardinal takes him down and locks in a triangle choke for the knockout submission victory.

Gilbert Corsey brings out Ryan Howe. Howe says he won the Round Robin, because Smooth beat Floyd, and he beat Smooth. That makes him #1 contender, and he wants Michael Hayes and the Heavyweight Title! Randall Floyd comes out and says he is ahead of Howe, because he hit him with a cutter and pinned him! He doesn't know what the ranking system looks like, but he knows he's ahead of him. Justin Smooth comes out and says he doesn't understand how he beat Floyd 2 weeks ago and was real close to beating Howe last week, but he knows he can defeat him any day of the week! Howe says he won and knows he's at the top of this 3-way mountain. Smooth says he's going to be the next champion, like it or not. Randy Royal comes out and says as a former champion, he has a rematch clause, and as far as he's concerned, the next title match is his! Royal & Floyd exchange words, with Floyd saying he should go back to whatever hole he crawled out of. He says he is the only one who has been here week in and week out, unlike Howe & Smooth who show up whenever they want.

Royal & Floyd end up exchanging blows, and Howe tries to break them up. Smooth tries also, then Howe & Smooth end up brawling and officials and other stars have to try and break them apart!

OVW Women's Champion Cali Young & OVW Southern Tag Team Champions "The Bro Godz": Colton Cage & Dustin Jackson defeat Dimes, Jaylee, & DL3. Dustin takes Dimes down, but then Dimes takes out the knee. Dustin back with a side headlock and tags Colton. Dimes tags DL3. Colton with a side slam and kick to the gut. Jaylee trips Colton off the ropes and DL3 hits him from behind. DL3 snapmares him and Dimes dropkicks a seated Colton. Jaylee is tagged and the ref says Cali must get in, so Jaylee tags back out to DL3. DL3 hits Colton and locks in a reverse headlock. He clubs Colton across the back and throws him to the corner. He charges in and misses the corner clothesline. DL3 tags Dimes, and Colton tags Dustin. Dustin with back elbows, then the coast to coast corner el-bros to Dimes & DL3. He powerslams DL3 and Jaylee jumps on his back. Cali comes in and spears her. She chases her around the outside and to the back. Dustin throws DL3 into Dimes in the corner. They hit Dimes with the Snapshot for the 3.

OVW TELEVISION TITLE MATCH: "The River City Dragon" Logan James (c) defeats Chace Destiny (w/Houdini & Nigel). Chace wants a test of strength. They lock up and Chace gets the upperhand, but LJ reverses, and Chace reverses back. They continue going back and forth on the mat. LJ reverses a side headlock with a back drop. Off the ropes, Chace drop toeholds LJ and arm drags him. Chace knees him outside and the Void surrounds LJ. Chace tries to drag LJ in, but LJ pulls him down across the top rope. LJ hits a missile dropkick for 2. LJ with a backbreaker for 2. Chace spin kicks LJ down, but misses an elbow drop. LJ with a big clothesline. The Void gets on the apron and LJ hits them off, but turns into a dropkick from Chace. LJ comes back and takes Chace down, then delivers the running knee strike for the 3.

After the match, LJ fights off the Void, delivering a super kick and running knee strike to Houdini, and an enziguri to Nigel. He sets up for another running knee strike to Chace, but Sam Thompson runs out. He takes it to LJ, and LJ retreats. He backs up into Amon.

Amon knocks him out with the chain, then goes to the ring and hits Sam with a pedigree.

He summons the Void back up, but Michael Hayes runs out and attacks Amon from behind with a metal rod. He pounds away on Amon and poses, but Amon returns to his feet and Hayes turns around into a pedigree.

Mike Lacett defeats Adam Revolver (w/Shannon the Dude). Adam takes Lacett down and STD mocks him from the outside. Lacett fires up, but STD trips him off the ropes. Lacett chases him around the ring and into the ring. Adam blindsides him. Lacett fires back again and delivers a flying body press for 2. Adam takes him down with a Russian leg sweep and locks in the sleeper, but Lacett reverses into a rollup for the 3! After the match, Adam attacks Lacett and allows Shannon to deliver the STDDT. Shannon says this will be the closest he ever gets to his belt.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

"The Top Guys": Kevin Giza & Adam Slade defeat William Lutz & Lukas Gibson. Lutz & Lukas with the early offense, but the Top Guys come back with their tag team maneuvers to take charge against Lutz. Lukas came back to take control, hitting Giza with a hard chop. Giza is worked over some more, until a hot tag and uppercuts from Slade. The Top Guys hit their double team finisher followed by a 450 from Giza for the 3.
