OVW TV 1014: Kings vs. Queens?

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, January 16, 2019. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 9PM, and online at OVW TV. In this episode, Justin Smooth defends the Television Title in the gauntlet, a showdown between a "Gunn" and a "Revolver", plus more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

"Black Sheep" Kevin James Weatherbee, Big Zo, & Eddie Knight defeat William Lutz, Ashton Cove, & "The Veteran" Apollo. Weatherbee with the early control against Cove. He tags in Zo and Zo splashes Cove in the corner, then hits the cartwheel butt bump and back elbows. Cove tags out to Lutz. Lutz gets hit and Zo tags in Eddie. Eddie gets kicked in the back off the ropes by Apollo allowing their team to take control. Cove tags in and works him over, then Lutz gets in and hits a slam. Apollo tags in and works him over some, before tagging Lutz back in. Eddie slides out of another slam and tags Zo. Zo takes them all out and Weatherbee gets in and hits an inverted airplane spin on Cove. Zo throws Lutz off the ropes and hits the running cross body for the 3.

Brittany Garcia & Jessie Belle defeat "The It Girls": Valerie Vermin & Jaylee (w/Cali Young). Val kicks Brittany, but Brittany delivers a back body drop. Val claws her face and they both tag out. Jessie clotheslines Jaylee and works over the arm. She tags Brittany in and she drops an axehandle across the arm. Jaylee fakes a knee injury and Val hits her from the apron. Jaylee kicks her and chokes her in the corner. She tags Val, who also chokes her in the corner. They continue double teaming her in the corner. Val locks in a sleeper, but she works her way up and both women tag out. Jessie clotheslines her and hits the "Oh Snap" suplex for 2. Val distracts the ref as Jaylee goes to throw Jessie off the ropes. Jessie reverses and Cali trips Jaylee instead. Jessie rolls her up in a small package for the 3.

Dapper Dan defeats Dimes. Dan with the clear size advantage has control to start. Dimes fires back and knocks Dan out of the ring. Dan fakes an ankle injury, then attacks Dimes as he gets back in. Dan pretty much controls the rest of the way, finishing Dimes off and getting the 3.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 11AM and 9PM (check local listings) and on OVW's official website Mondays at OVW TV.

Gilbert Corsey & Dr. Ted McNaler are on commentary, and Mercy is the ring announcer.

OVW TELEVISION TITLE GAUNTLET MATCH: Dustin Jackson defeats Colton Cage. Dustin & Colton go right after each other. Dustin fires away and hits the dropkick and a splash in the corner. He misses the splash from the top rope and Colton attacks him and chokes him. The ref counts Colton out, because he won't release it. Several refs have to come out to break him apart from Dustin.
Dustin Jackson defeats Dapper Dan. Dan comes out and thinks he has an easy pin. He tries several times, but Dustin kicks out. He charges Dustin in the corner, but Dustin moves and rolls him up for the 3. Dan hits Dustin from behind after the match.
Amon defeats Dustin Jackson. Amon comes out and attacks Dustin, but Dustin comes back. Off the ropes, they both try across body at the same time and go down. Dustin rolls out and Amon goes after him. Amon tries to run him into the pole, but Dustin slides off and rams him into the pole. Dustin goes up top and Amon hits him in the gut. Amon clotheslines him and then stretches him out while biting him. Dustin fires back with the corner clotheslines, but misses a dropkick. Amon hits the STH for the 3!
"The Trinidad Titan" Justin Smooth (c) defeats Amon. Smooth fires away and hits a big clothesline for 2. He hits a spinebuster, but Amon rolls out and grabs his chain. His chain gets held up, because Nigel Winters is connected to it under the ring. Chace Destiny comes out with a chain and hits Amon. Smooth then hits the bicycle kick for the 3.
"The Trinidad Titan" Justin Smooth (c) defeats Brandon Wolfe. Wolfe flips in and kicks the leg of Smooth. Smooth powers him down, but Wolfe keeps coming back with his quickness. Wolfe charges Smooth in the corner several times, hitting him with splashes. On the last attempt, Smooth charges out of the corner with the bicycle kick for the 3.

Jaylee comes out with Valerie Vermin and says that Cali screwed her out of the title, then a title shot. As mad as she is, she needs to talk to her. Cali comes out and says she's just gonna yell at her. Jaylee says she has a contract OK'd by Dean Hill for a triple threat match. All she has to do is put a name on it and tells her she needs protection. Cali writes Valerie's name down, angering Jaylee. Jaylee goes to hit Cali, but Val steps in between them. Jaylee hits Val and tells her to stay out of the way. Cali spears Jaylee and helps Val out of the ring.

Ca$h Flo defeats "The Boy Wonder" Sam Thompson. Sam tries to use his quickness, kicking the leg of Ca$h and diving out on him. Ca$h takes out his legs on the apron and rolls him in. He chops him around the ring and then delivers a flying legdrop off the top rope for the 3.
After the match, Ca$h says he is the best big man in the game. He is heavy-handed and short fused. The games are just beginning!

Jax Dane comes out and says the bad news is Crimson is not here. The good news is that he is here. He talks about their team being dominating and that they have beaten everyone in the back. He knows there's another team in the back proclaiming to be "Kings", but they are cowardly. They have a yellow stripe down their back, because otherwise they would have turned in their Nightmare Cup win to get a title shot. Kings Ransom's music hits, but out comes DL3 & Shiloh Jonze, dressed as them. They say they are cowardly and don't deserve to stand in the same ring as Jax and bow down to him. The real Kings Ransom comes out and goes after DL3 & Shiloh as Jax goes out. They take them out of the ring and deliver Kings Landing to Big D.
Jax sneaks in behind them and clocks both of them with the title, calling them "Queens Ransom".

Adam Revolver (w/Shannon the Dude) defeats "Shotgun" Tony Gunn. Adam attacks Gunn as he enters the ring, but Gunn comes back and Adam wants a timeout. Gunn chops him on the outside. STD causes distractions that allow Adam to take control, but Gunn still comes back with his flying knee and delivers three amigos. The ref gets crushed in a scuffle and Gunn has Adam down for the 3, but no one to count. Another ref comes out, but gets pulled out by STD. Tony Vanetti runs out and brawls with STD. Gunn is distracted and Adam is playing possum near the ropes. Gunn goes to grab him, but Adam rolls him up and uses the ropes for leverage to get the 3.
After the match, Dean Hill comes out and says that Danny Davis was right in naming Adam a snake. He says he needs someone special as a ref at the SNS. Someone to be a "snake handler". Someone "marvelous". Melvin Maximus comes out in a ref's shirt and Adam can't believe it!

This ended the TV taping.

DARK MATCH: Drew Hernandez defeats "Livewire" KTD. KTD comes out firing and does a twisting dive out onto Drew. Back inside, Drew catches KTD with a blue thunder bomb to put him away for the 3.

DARK HANDICAP MATCH: "Kings Ransom": Maximus & Leonis Khan defeat "The Entourage": Shiloh Jonze, DL3, & Big D. The Kings control most of the match, delivering chops and sending them running. They bring them back to the ring, but the numbers game catches up. They work over Maximus for a bit, before getting a hot tag to Leonis. The Entourage gets chopped and the Kings deliver a triple Kings Landing for the 3!
