OVW TV 1016: The Monster Shot Down

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, January 30, 2019. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 9PM, and online at OVW TV. In this episode, Justin Smooth defends the Television Title in the gauntlet, Crazzy Steve & Amon face the Void, Tony Gunn looks to win the Heavyweight Title against Abyss, plus more!

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

"The Boy Wonder" Sam Thompson defeats Big D (w/Shiloh Jonze & DL3). Sam has to battle with DL3 & Shiloh interfering on the outside. He hits a kick and a running knee to Big D. Big D comes back with a slam, a splash for 2, and a sidewalk slam. DL3 & Shiloh tell him to go for a powerbomb, but Sam slides out and rolls D up for the 3.

Cali Young & Valerie Vermin defeat Miss Hannah & Jaylee. Cali & Val make quick tags in and out early working over Hannah's arm. They hit a double drop toehold. Off the ropes, Jaylee knees Val in the back and tags in. Jaylee headbutts her and hits a hard forearm. She has a sleeper locked in, but Val delivers a chinbuster. Both tag out, and Cali fires away on Hannah, and knocks Jaylee off the apron. She hits the x-factor on Hannah for the 3.

After the match, Jaylee attacks from behind and grabs a chair. Before she can do anything, Brittany Devore runs out and chases her off. She says it's already a triple threat and all of them want to get their hands on Jaylee, so she says to make it a fatal 4 way!

Ca$h Flo & Dapper Dan defeat Eddie Knight & Big Zo. Eddie wants Dan, but starts with Ca$h. He fires away and hits a forearm. He locks up the arm and tags Zo. Dan tags himself in and Zo knocks him down. He throws him to the corner and hits the cartwheel butt bump and back elbows. He flings Dan across the ring and tags Eddie. Dan gets the upperhand and tags Ca$h. Ca$h with chops and Dan works him over. Eddie comes back with a flying forearm and both him and Dan tag out. Zo comes in firing on both men. He catches Ca$h and hits a big powerslam. Dan fakes a knee injury and Eddie chases Dan out of the ring and to the back. Ca$h recovers and hits the Wall Street Crash, then follows it up with a frog splash for the 3.

As Gilbert, Josh, & Ted talk about the main event for tonight between Tony Gunn & Abyss, he gets interrupted by Adam Revolver & Shannon the Dude. Adam says that #1 contendership is supposed to be on the line Saturday and he's not going to waste it, when he knows Tony can't beat Abyss. He has paperwork, he has lawyers, and he will shut this show down if that happens. Gunn comes out and says fine, let's do this right now. Adam might be a snake and have papers, but he's the best wrestler here. Adam attacks him and we have a ref and a match!

"Shotgun" Tony Gunn defeats "The Snake" Adam Revolver (w/Shannon the Dude). Adam with the early advantage, but Gunn fires back. He hits a running forearm and the flying knee. He goes for the Killshot, but STD distracts him. Melvin Maximus comes out and pulls him off the apron and takes him to the back. Adam hits him from behind and locks in the sleeper. Gunn gets out and goes for the sharpshooter, but Adam kicks him off. He locks in a modified Boston crab, but Gunn reaches the ropes. Adam locks in the sleeper again, but Gunn fights out and hits a flapjack. He goes up top, but Adam hits him and takes him down with a superplex for 2.  Adam goes for the sleeper again. He locks it in, and Gunn tries to flip out of it in the corner, but Adam holds on. The ref raises Gunn's arm and Gunn isn't down on the third time. He comes back with the Killshot and falls on top of Adam for the 3. Abyss comes out and attacks Gunn. He chokes him with his boot and tells Gunn if he wants a title match, he has it right now!

OVW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH: "Shotgun" Tony Gunn defeats "The Monster" Abyss (c). Abyss throws him into the corner and charges in with a splash. He hits another and throws Gunn to the floor outside. Abyss goes out and throws him into the guardrail and then the steel steps. Back inside, Abyss works him over and twists the neck in a submission. Gunn starts firing back with lefts and hits him in the ropes. He hits a big chop, but Abyss catches a left and clubs him down. He throws him into the corner and misses a charge. Gunn rolls him up for 2! Abyss catches him with a chokeslam. He delivers a second one and Abyss pulls him up. He goes for #3, but Gunn breaks out of it and connects with a Killshot! He falls on top of him for the 3!

After the match, the locker room empties and congratulates Gunn on the big win, including Dean Hill who shakes hands and hugs him.

Gunn is the NEW OVW Heavyweight Champion!

Colton Cage comes out and says he is going to keep his composure because he is a god and is above the fans. He says last week, Dustin Jackson went too far and below the belt by talking about his wife and his life. He did everything for that kid and he just wants to be a stupid bro. He points out "one of Dustin's girlfriends" in the audience. He asks her to stand up and come down to ringside. He wants to know what she sees in him. She slaps him and Dustin runs out and spears Colton and hits him. Dustin checks on her, only for Colton to come up and low blow him from behind. He chokes Dustin and hits him on the floor.

OVW TELEVISION TITLE GAUNTLET MATCH: "The Trinidad Titan" Justin Smooth (c) defeats "Livewire" KTD. KTD fires away, but Smooth plows him down. He hits the bicycle kick and gets the quick 3.

"The Trinidad Titan" Justin Smooth (c) defeats Ashton Cove. As soon as Cove gets in, Smooth hits the bicycle kick for the 3.

"The Trinidad Titan" Justin Smooth (c) defeats William Lutz. Lutz kicks him, but Smooth grabs him and delivers a press powerslam for the 3.

"The Trinidad Titan" Justin Smooth (c) defeats Dimes. Dimes takes his time getting in. Cove, Lutz, & KTD all get in and attack Smooth. Smooth takes them all out with bicycle kicks and pins Dimes.

"The Trinidad Titan" Justin Smooth (c) defeats Kevin James Weatherbee. Weatherbee with some offense early, but Smooth catches him with a spinebuster off the ropes. He connects with the bicycle kick to get the 3.

Amon & Crazzy Steve vs. "The Void": Chace Destiny & Nigel Winters. Amon & Steve go out after them as they enter through the curtain. They brawl on the outside. Amon & Steve get Chace in the ring for their finisher, but Nigel makes Steve fall out of the ring. Nigel jumps on Amon, but gets hit against the ring apron. Steve brings out chairs into the ring and Nigel grabs one and hits Amon. Nigel & Steve swing chairs at the same time at each other. The match is called by the ref. Nigel is taken down as Steve chokes Chace with a plastic bag. The locker room empties and chase Steve & Amon off. Dean Hill comes out and says he is indefinitely suspended for his actions! They have to stretcher out Chace.

This ended the TV taping.

Gilbert Corsey brings out Jessie Belle. She will be gone for a while as she pursues other opportunities in Los Angeles, but promises she'll be back. She is interrupted by Miss Hannah, and Jessie challenges her to a match.

DARK MATCH: Jessie Belle defeats Miss Hannah. Hannah with the early control, but Jessie comes firing back and makes her tap out to the armbreaker.

DARK MATCH: "Mister Marvelous" Melvin Maximus & "Kings Ransom": Maximus & Leonis Khan defeats Ashton Cove, William Lutz, & Colton Cage. Melvin & Kings Ransom dominate the entire opening of the match with their size and power advantage. Colton's team takes control after he kicks Leonis in the back off the ropes. They try to keep him in their corner and work him over. Cage misses a charge and Leonis hits a side slam. Colton kicks him below the belt as Cove distracts the ref. Cove tags in. Dustin Jackson runs out and runs Colton off with a steel chair. Maximus gets a hot tag and runs through Lutz & Cove. He throws Melvin into them in the corner. Melvin dumps Cove out as the Kings hit Kings Landing on Lutz for the 3.
