OVW TV 1171: The Tide is Rising

 
This is the OVW Report for Thursday, January 20, 2022.

TONIGHT:
-We hear from the returning Omar Amir about his Nightmare Rumble win!
-The rivalry continues between the OVW Tag Team Champions the Fanny Pack Party Dark Kloudz!
-OVW Women's Champion Freya the Slaya is in action against Alice Crowley!
-Plus, Mahabali Shera returns, Crixus is in action, Jessie Godderz reacts to the "Davis Arena Screwjob", Rush Division action, and much more!

PRE-SHOW:
AJ McKay is the ring announcer.

"The Nephilim"
 D'mone Solavino vs. Ca$h Flo (w/"Big Money" Dimes).
Ca$h is attacked before the bell with kicks and a dropkick. D'mone goes off the ropes and Ca$h hits him with a hard back elbow. He chops D'mone in the corner, then throws him out to the floor. Back inside, D'mone tries a sunset flip but can't budge Ca$h. He jumps on his back for a sleeper hold. Ca$h slings him into the corner. He runs in, but D'mone grabs Ca$h's head with his feet and pulls him into the top turnbuckle. D'mone jumps on Ca$h with the sleeper again, but Ca$h slams him off. He runs in with a cross body splash in the corner and chops him. D'mone tries to fire up, then locks Ca$h up from behind. Off the ropes, D'mone ducks a clothesline and then ducks a running cross body. Ca$h flies out of the ring to the floor. D'mone tries to bring Ca$h back in, but Ca$h hits him across the top rope. He goes up top and nails the Payload for the 3.
WINNER: CA$H by pinfall.

Big Zo (w/"The East End Villain" Josh Ashcraft) vs. "Shotgun" Tony Gunn
.
Before the match begins, Gunn says Zo should be smart enough to get away from Josh. Hy Zaya saw the light, and Zo should see the light to, that Josh is poison. Zo clotheslines Gunn and throws him in the corner. He hits the cartwheel butt bump and back elbows. He chokes him with his boot in the corner and goes for another cartwheel, but Gunn gets his knees up into Zo's back. He comes out of the corner with the Killshot and gets the 3.
WINNER: GUNN by pinfall.

OVW TV (HOUR 1):
Bryan Kennison, Dancin' Stevie J, & Shannon the Dude are on commentary, AJ McKay is the ring announcer.

TRIPLE THREAT: "Big Whiskey" Jared Kripke vs. "Mr. Zero Gravity" AJ Daniels vs. Rush Champion "The Star of the Show" Star Rider.
AJ & Star double team Jared to start. Jared fires back on both of them, but gets tripped by AJ. He leaps on Star & AJ as they argue with each other. AJ takes Jared down, but Star throws him off and delivers a stomp to him. He covers Jared for the 3.
WINNER: STAR by pinfall.

"Superior"
 Tony Evans vs. "Goodfella" Matt Vine.
Vine with the advantage out of the gate. He fires on Tony and hits a nice dropkick. He slings him across the ring and uppercuts him. Tony leaps over a charge in the corner and tries to roll him over and then suplex him. Vine comes back with an inverted suplex and back body drop. Off the ropes, Tony catches him with a side powerslam. Vine comes back with a super kick and plants him with a twisted DDT for the 3.
WINNER: VINE by pinfall.

Jessie Godderz is speaking from his home and says he is not in the arena tonight, but loves the sound of "and still..." He told everyone he would remain OVW National Champion. He beat Chris Adonis, "Mr. Wrestling" Nick Dinsmore, "The Pope" Elijah Burke. He says Al Snow, Matt Jones, and everyone set this match up as a test. He is the face that runs this place and the face of Thursday nights.

"The Army of One"
 DNA vs. Crixus.
DNA pulls him into the corner by his hair and fires away on him, then shoulders him. Crixus runs out with a shoulder tackle. DNA tries to hit him again, but Crixus plows through him, busting him open in the process. He plants him with a DDT to get the 3.
WINNER: CRIXUS by pinfall.

AJ McKay tries to get an interview with Ryan Howe about Omar Amir being the new #1 contender. He has his own fog machine and sings and plays his guitar. Arie Alexander walks in and Howe tells her to "smoke him". AJ says he doesn't get paid enough for this and walks out.

"Double A"
 Arie Alexander vs. "The Barbie Killer" Hayley Shadows.
They lock up and Hayley hits Arie with some kicks and an enziguri. She hits her in the corner, then runs into a back elbow. She hits Hayley, but Hayley comes back with a spear for 2. She sets up for her finisher, but Arie reverses and hits her with a German Suplex. Hayley comes back and throws her in the corner and charges, but Arie moves. She rolls her up and has her feet on the ropes for the 3.
WINNER: ARIE by pinfall.

Steve Michaels (w/"The East End Villain" Josh Ashcraft) vs. "Big Money" Dimes (w/Ca$h Flo).
Dimes tries to plow Steve down off the ropes 3 times, but doesn't budge him. He goes for a test of strength. Dimes walks up the corner and across the top rope. He leaps off and Steve clotheslines him down. Off the ropes, Ca$h trips Steve. Dimes chops him and headbutts him, but inflicts more damage to himself in the process. Steve throws him into the corner and splashes him. He throws him to the other corner and Ca$h moves him. Dimes covers, but Steve easily throws him off the cover. Dimes tries to chop him and throw him to the corner. Steve reverses and runs into a boot. Steve tries again, and again Steve runs into a boot. Dimes tries a Change Maker, but Steve shoves him off. He tries again, but again Steve shoves him off. Steve hits Dimes' head off the mat. Ca$h is chasing Josh around ringside. Steve goes up, but misses a corner bomb as Ca$h pulls Dimes out of harm's way. Josh gets on the apron and Ca$h pulls him off. Big Zo is out and he brawls with Ca$h on the outside. Ca$h shoves Zo into the ringpost. While the ref is distracted by Zo & Ca$h at ringside, Dimes grabs his protein powder and throws it in Steve's eyes. He connects with the Change Maker for the 3!
WINNER: DIMES by pinfall.

OVW TV (HOUR 2):
Bryan Kennison, Dancin' Stevie J, & Shannon the Dude are on commentary, AJ McKay is the ring announcer.

Omar Amir
 is seen walking in and saying hello to
the Fanny Pack Party, Luscious Lawrence, Freya the Slaya, and then Ca$h Flo. Omar then comes out to start the show. He says he was depressed, angry, then motivated to come back from his tricep tear. He worked a little bit harder each day until he was able to come back and win the Nightmare Rumble for the second straight year. Ryan Howe interrupts with his guitar. He comes out to the ramp with Arie Alexander and says Omar needs to quit while he's ahead. Omar says nothing has changed while he was gone, except Ryan has apparently become British and now has OVW's resident big booty ho, Arie. His music still sucks and no one likes him. Ryan says he is making everyone mad, they want to hear him play. Omar should take his winning smile and go play chess or something. Omar tells him to shut up and says the tide is rising and he will once again be OVW Heavyweight Champion! 

"The Viking"
 Roger Mathis vs. "The Indian Lion" Mahabali Shera.
Roger attacks and kicks at the legs of Shera. Shera fires back with clotheslines. Roger chops Shera in the corner, then Shera reverses. and chops. He delivers a snap suplex and puts Roger away with the Sky High for the 3.
WINNER: SHERA by pinfall.

Reverend Ronnie Roberts comes out for the first Good Word of 2022. His guest is Tony Gunn. He says Gunn beat Luscious Lawrence last week, but walked away with only his big belt buckle, and not the Kentucky State Title. Ronnie says some people in the back are saying he got lucky, nailing a Killshot, and then falling on top of Luscious dazed and confused. Luscious is his next guest. Gunn says he is glad Luscious is out, because he wants a better look. Luscious says that's understandable. Gunn says he meant a better look at the title. Gunn challenges Luscious for it. Luscious accepts. Gunn says the only reason Luscious is champion, is because he was taken out of the tournament!

"Big Al"
 Alice Crowley vs. OVW Women's Champion "The Queen of the North" Freya the Slaya.
Freya controls the majority of the match with her power advantage. She takes Alice down hard with a chokeslam for the 3.
WINNER: FREYA by pinfall.
After the match, Freya warns Angelina Love that she will end her career in the same place it started!

"Dark Kloudz"
"Elusive" Eric Darkstorm & "Hustler" Deget Bundlez vs. 
OVW Tag Team Champions "The Fanny Pack Party": Dustin Jackson & "The Fanny Pack Kid" Kal Herro.
Dustin starts out with Deget. They exchange blows. Dustin takes him down and Eric tags in. Dustin fires away on him, and he tags back out to Deget. Deget is brought in over the rope and Dustin fires on him. Eric runs in and gets dropkicked. Deget hits Dustin from behind and he gets double teamed as Kal tries to get in and help. Off the ropes, Kal tags in and clotheslines Eric. Eric hits Kal's bad shoulder, and Dustin tags himself back in. He gets worked over and double-teamed, and is sent crashing to the barricade at ringside. Inside, they go for a double suplex on Dustin and he flips over and tags Kal. Kal fires away until Eric gets in and hits a shoulderbreaker and locks the bad arm up in a submission. The ref gets in the middle of it and throws up an "X". Kal is hurt, and the medic and other officials come out to check on him. Dustin has to go back to battle by himself. He fires away on both of them, but the numbers game catches up. Deget hits a hard slam, then Eric forearms him in the face. He tries to fight back, but Eric knees him, then slings him to the mat. They exchange blows, and Dustin gets backdropped. They hit the double team swinging cutter for the 3.
WINNERS: DARK KLOUDZ by pinfall.

This ended the TV taping.
