OVWmania's Superstar Spotlight: Rob Terry

ROB TERRY
OVW Heavyweight Champion
From: Swansea, Wales, UK
Height: 6'5"
Weight: 318 lbs.

He's called "The Freak", "The Welsh Colossus", "Big Rob", and currently OVW Heavyweight Champion. The big man's smallest leg vein may be thicker than most people's necks. Rob Terry debuted in TNA Wrestling as part of the British Invasion and once held the TNA Television Title for an impressive and lengthy 167 days. Currently, he associates himself in TNA with Robbie E., holding a bouncer's clipboard and letting people know if they're on "the List".

In OVW, Terry has made a quick name for himself by becoming one of a select few to hold every major title in the company and become the 8th triple crown champion (there are now 9). He's accomplished this feat in less than a year after debuting in OVW back in January. He was brought in as part of the Family and feuded a great deal of early 2012 with OVW fan favorite Johnny Spade over the OVW Heavyweight Title. It wasn't until September 19 that Rob Terry started gaining cheers from the OVW fans when he started feuding with Crimson. After 3 encounters with Crimson, he finally won the OVW Heavyweight Title for a second time at the December 1 Saturday Night Special. He is still in a war with Crimson, Crimson's Army, and the Platoon of Wayne after they became allies and took the big man out at the most recent OVW Television Taping on December 5, injuring his knee with a steel chair.

One thing is for sure, whether it be TNA or OVW, Big Rob is always looking to make an IMPACT!

TNA's Joseph Park Training in OVW!

Tonight on IMPACT Live, Hulk Hogan was on the phone and said he got the paperwork from Joseph Park to wrestle, but would have to check with Al Snow in OVW first before bringing him up to the roster. I did spot Park in the parking lot before last night's show and now the pieces are falling together. Looking at OVW's track record, there is no better place to train and learn to wrestle than at Davis Arena in Louisville. Good luck to Mr. Park in his training and welcome to OVW!

OVW TV #694: "Blindsides Aplenty"

This is the OVW Report for the night of Wednesday, December 5, 2012. Tonight at the Davis Arena, we finally found out the identity of Trailer Park Trash's mystery attacker, the Gutcheckers defended the OVW Southern Tag Team Titles against the Mascara Mafia, Jamin Olivencia defended the OVW TV Title, we crowned a new #1 contender for the OVW Women's Championship, and Crimson's Army joined forces with the Platoon of Wayne!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Match:

Dylan Bostic b. Tony Gunn (w/Ralphie). Bostic was announced as the "Ken" of OVW and the Justin Bieber of professional wrestling. Gunn teased placing referee Josh Ashcraft in the bearhug which allowed Bostic to attack from behind to start the match. Bostic worked over Gunn's head and neck as he again yelled out "Who Sucks Now?". Gunn started to fight back and tried to twice roll Bostic up, but only got 2 counts. He hit a backdrop and then went for the airplane spin. As he started twirling, Dylan reached out and grabbed Ashcraft. Gunn stopped the Airplane Spin allowing Bostic to get out of the hold and hit a backstabber for the victory. MY TAKE: Bostic, at least on this night, doesn't suck now.

That concludes tonight's only pre-show dark match. I always suggest watching the show first before reading my full report. You can find the shows posted online late Thursday afternoons/evenings at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.

OVW Saturday Night Special December 2012 Results

Tonight at the Davis Arena, Rob Terry was hoping the third time would be the charm in his match with Crimson for the OVW Heavyweight Title, The POW's went to war with the Moose, the Best Team Ever defended the OVW Southern Tag Titles against the Gutcheckers, Joe Coleman defended the OVW Television Title against Jamin Olivencia again in a no disqualification match, Taryn Terrell defended the OVW Women's Title in a match where the loser would be dumped in a pool of doggy doo, Johnny Spade faced Doug Williams in a "Gentleman's Rules" match, Trailer Park Trash went 1-on-1 with his mystery attacker, plus much more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

"VIP" Joe Rosa (w/Jose Del Barrio) vs. Paredyse. Paredyse chases VIP to start the match, and he hides behind Del Barrio. Del Barrio and VIP keep hiding behind each other until Del Barrio finally jumps out of the ring. VIP goes to hide behind Del Barrio and turns to see he's not there. Paredyse comes up from behind and rolls VIP up and slaps his backside. He then jumps on VIP's back and rides him around the ring. He hits a butt bump, and then jumps into VIP's arms making kissy faces at him. VIP throws him off as Del Barrio gets on the apron. Paredyse ducks as VIP tries to attack from behind, and VIP almost hits Del Barrio. Paredyse rolls him up for a 2 count. Del Barrio is still on the apron, and VIP takes advantage with Paredyse's attention on Del Barrio. VIP hits a legdrop after strutting to his "VIP" name. He then hits a big spinebuster, but no pin. Paredyse starts to fire back and hits a drop kick followed by a kip up. He then delivers the Kiss of Death and gets the 3. WINNER: PAREDYSE by pinfall. MY TAKE: A fun bonus match got the night kicked off right. Nice performance from Paredyse.

OVW TV #693: "Who is Josette's Man?"

This is the OVW Report for the night of Wednesday, November 28, 2012. Tonight at the Davis Arena, we saw another live edition of the "Suckah of the Week", Randy Royal returned to discuss his health, Joe Coleman defended the TV Title in round 3 against Jamin Olivencia, Jason Wayne rallied his troops against James "Moose" Thomas, Trailer Park Trash gave Josette an ultimatum regarding his mystery attacker, plus much more!

Here we go...

 Pre-Show Dark Matches:

Ryan Howe b. Jeremiah Plunkett. After locking up, Howe gets Plunkett in the corner and clean breaks, but Plunkett pokes him in the eye and takes advantage. Plunkett works him over scratching Howe's back and headbutting him. Howe starts fighting back, but Plunkett takes him down again. He continues trying to wear him down, but Howe again fights back hitting a dropkick and a clothesline off the ropes. He goes up top and hits the Chart Topper for the 1-2-3. MY TAKE: Howe is once again racking up wins and gets a good win here over Plunkett.

Taeler Hendrix (w/Dylan Bostic) b. Jessie Belle. Jessie Belle tried rolling up Taeler quick, but only got a 2 count. She had control hitting some armdrags and rolled her around the ring in a circle with her legs. Taeler took a breather before coming back. Jessie Belle got distracted by Dylan which allowed Taeler to take control. Taeler worked her over, but couldn't put her away. Jessie Belle fought back and regained control until Dylan got up on the apron and distracted Jessie Belle again. She smacked at him, but he did enough to allow Taeler to regroup. When Jessie Belle turned around, Taeler was waiting with a swift kick to the head and got the pin. MY TAKE: Taeler is back on a winning streak, but can she continue it into SNS where she goes 1-on-1 with Taryn Terrell for the OVW Women's Title?

Happy Turkey Day!

OVW TV #692: "The Return of Jo-VW?"

This is the OVW Report for the night of Wednesday, November 21, 2012. Tonight at the Davis Arena, Trailer Park Trash resumed his questioning on who attacked him, Taryn Terrell got a "present" from Taeler Hendrix, Eddie Diamond & Timmy Danger presented the "Suckah of the Week", OVW Heavyweight Champion Crimson was in action, and Joe Coleman had to defend the OVW Television Title against Jamin Olivencia once again.

It was kind of a hectic night being the night before Thanksgiving, as there was no announcers to start the night. Referee Joe Wheeler said "ding" to start the first match.

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

Tony Gunn b. Dylan Bostic. Gunn took the advantage to start out as he delivered his patented monkey flip, but as he tried for a second one, Bostic moved and pulled him off the rope making him crash face first on the mat. Dylan went back to delivering moves and asking the crowd "Who Sucks Now?'". Toward the end, he said he was going to deliver a backdrop, but Gunn flipped over him and rolled him up for a quick 3. The crowd again chanted "Who Sucks Now?" back at Bostic. MY TAKE: Tony has bested Dylan 2 straight weeks. Maybe Dylan needs to focus more on his opponent and not the fans.

Eddie Diamond (w/Timmy Danger, Cinnamon Twist, & Bobbi Bardot) b. "Marksman" Nick Dumeyer. A quick back and forth match. Diamond hit his signature "Soulja Boy" kneedrop, Dumeyer came back but got distracted by Twist & Bardot, and Diamond was able to take advantage and hit his inverted DDT finisher. MY TAKE: Diamond is starting to get a small following from the fans. Who was his "Suckah of the Week"? Keep reading on to find out...

Taeler Hendrix b. Heidi Lovelace. Taeler kept mocking Heidi asking her "Where's Your Title?" and avoiding entering the ring. Heidi finally brought her in and went to town taking out her frustrations from Taeler costing her the title from the week before. Taeler was able to come back and defeat Heidi, though, after rolling her up with a handful of tights. MY TAKE: Taeler, whether you agree with her methods or not, looks like she is regaining form with a win over the former Women's Champ.
