OVW Saturday Night Special May 2013 Results

This is the OVW Saturday Night Special Report for Saturday, May 11, 2013. Tonight, Jamin Olivencia defended the OVW Heavyweight Title against Doug Williams once again, Sam Shaw met up with the Coalition's Jason Wayne, King Mo was in action against the leader of the VIP Club, Randy Royal challenged for Rockstar Spud's OVW Television Title, Trina defended the OVW Women's Title against Epiphany, plus much more! I'm glad I don't do a video blog, because I have a sore throat and just about lost my voice.

Without further ado:

Here we go...

After a video opening showing the Coalition's recent path of destruction, we head straight into our first match of the evening. Also of note, before the show started, it was announced that Director of Operations Michael Hayes would not be able to referee the main event, because he was not cleared by doctors following the Coalition's assault at the last TV taping.

Paredyse (w/4M: "Mister Marvelous" Melvin Maximus) vs. Eddie F. Diamond (w/Timmy Danger).
EFD with a side headlock and a takedown, and Paredyse rolls out of the ring. He gets back in and EFD catches him with 2 hip tosses, and Paredyse rolls out again. He gets on the ring apron, and EFD flips him in. Another hip toss, and again Paredyse goes to the outside. EFD chases after him. Paredyse rolls in the ring with EFD following. Paredyse tries to drop an elbow, but EFD doesn't roll all the way in, and Paredyse misses. As EFD tries to get in the ring, 4M hits him from behind. Paredyse hits him in the corner, charges at him, but EFD moves and Paredyse saddles the second turnbuckle. EFD punches and hits the Soulja Boy Shuffle. 4M gets on the apron, distracting the ref. Paredyse gets up and rolls EFD up with a handful of tights for the pin.
WINNER: PAREDYSE by pinfall.
After the match, Paredyse & EFD argue face-to-face, but Timmy Danger steps in front of EFD. Paredyse takes a swing, but Danger ducks, and Danger slams Paredyse.
MY TAKE: After several weeks of bad luck following his "barbecuing", Paredyse finally gets another mark under the "W" column. Is Danger planning on entering the ring full time?

6-MAN TAG: Bodyguy, 4M: "Mister Marvelous" Melvin Maximus, & Elvis Pridemoore vs. "Marksman" Nick Dumeyer & Lambda Lambda Lambda: Stephon J. Baxter III & Albert Einstein Baxter II.
Interesting to note that Josh Ashcraft was wearing a ref cam during this match. I wondered if TNA wanted them to experiment with it like they did with the X-division. Dumeyer & Elvis lock up, Dumeyer takes control, and Stephon comes in. He delivers a hip toss and Elvis tags Bodyguy. Bodyguy chops Stephon. Stephon throws Bodyguy in the corner and Albert tags in. Bodyguy throws him off the ropes, and Albert bounces off and collides into him. Bodyguy tags Elvis, and Albert makes the tag to Dumeyer. Dumeyer takes Elvis down as Bodyguy and 4M get in. Dumeyer hits Bodyguy in the corner as 4M charges. Dumeyer moves and 4M hits Bodyguy. The Baxters throw Bodyguy and 4M's heads into each other. Dumeyer rolls Elvis up and gets the 3.
WINNERS: BAXTERS & DUMEYER by pinfall.
After the match, Dumeyer offers his hand to Elvis, but Elvis just walks away.
MY TAKE: Elvis & Dumeyer had teamed quite a bit recently, but their friendship may have ended tonight.

We get a Mixtape from EFD & Timmy Danger. They call Trina a clown-faced, muscly armed, as good as a vegetarian cheese steak, Suckah of the Week. So knuck if you buck, and get on Epiphany's level. This naturally leads us into...

OVW WOMEN'S TITLE: Epiphany vs. Trina (c).
Epiphany hits, kicks, and slams Trina. She hits a power slam, and steps across Trina's stomach. She goes up top, but Trina comes back and pulls Epiphany onto her shoulders for a samoan drop and gets the pin.
WINNER and STILL WOMEN'S CHAMPION: TRINA.
MY TAKE: Although Epiphany dominated, Trina showed she will not go down easy. A big defense from Trina.

SPECIAL ATTRACTION TAG TEAM MATCH: "Mr. Wrestling" Nick Dinsmore & "Ram Jam" Jonathan Ramser vs. "The Pastor of Disaster" Stuart Miles & "Primetime" Robbie Walker.
Dinsmore came to the ring first and said the other 3 participants in this match all trained in his beginner's class and his partner tonight was born deaf. He said it was a new challenge to train someone who couldn't hear him, but Ram Jam never complained and worked hard. WDRB News in Louisville was also filming this match to do a special story on Ramser & Miles for a newscast on Sunday, May 19. Ramser & Miles locked up first and exchanged submissions. Both men tagged out. Dinsmore takes Walker down and kicks his leg. He puts him in a side headlock and tags Ramser. Ramser charges but Walker dropkicks him while still in Dinsmore's headlock. He charges again, but gets backflipped while in the headlock. The final time he charges, he gets caught in a headscissors, and Walker takes both of them down. He makes the tag to Miles. Miles backflips Ramser onto Dinsmore. Walker gets back in, but gets worked over by Dinsmore & Ramser. He gets put into an abdominal stretch by both men. He finally makes a hot tag to Miles again, and Miles slams both men twice. Walker comes back in and all 4 men fight in opposite corners. Ramser & Dinsmore reverse throws, but Walker leapfrogs Miles and hits Dinsmore while Miles hits Ramser. They throw again, but Dinsmore reverses and Walker & Ramser collide. Dinsmore hits Miles and goes over and grabs a bag of powder from his ring jacket. Ramser tries to stop him from using it. Dinsmore turns around and Miles slaps it up into Dinsmore's face. Ramser spears Dinsmore, Walker hits a super kick, and Miles hits a claw chokeslam for the pin. Miles, Walker, & Ramser celebrate together.
WINNERS: WALKER & MILES by pinfall.
MY TAKE: The students best the teacher tonight.

GRUDGE MATCH: "The King of Pink" Dylan Bostic vs. Ryan Howe.
Howe chases Dylan around the ring. Dylan gets back in first and stomps Howe. He throws him off the ropes, and Howe hits his sliding punch. He clotheslines Dylan, but Dylan throws Howe to the outside and then hits a running dive. He chops Howe, but Howe chops back. Dylan chops him again and rams him back first into the steel ringpost. He rolls him in and locks him in a leg submission. Howe fights out and goes up top, but crashes and burns. Dylan hits a backcracker, but pulls Howe up at 2. He goes up top, but he crashes and burns. Howe goes up top, and Dylan meets him to try and suplex him off, but Howe hits him down and then connects with the Chart Topper for the pin.
WINNER: HOWE by pinfall.
MY TAKE: Dylan should have taken the win when he had it, but instead his decision came back to bite him.

6-MAN TAG: The Coalition's "Rudo" Raul LaMotta, "Thunderlats" Joe Coleman, & "Corporal" Shiloh Jonze (w/"General" Jason Wayne & Ghillie) vs. Rudy Switchblade & the Mobile Homers: Ted McNaler & Adam Revolver (w/Brittany Devore).
Rudy & the Homers head straight into the ring and after the Coalition. Once order is finally restored, Shiloh gets flipped in and worked over. He tags Raul who gets worked over including a tag team neckbreaker from the Homers. Coleman comes in and also takes hits including a top rope stomp from McNaler and a flip in by Rudy onto him. McNaler gets distracted by Wayne, and it allows the Coalition to take the advantage and beat down on him. Shiloh misses a charge into the corner and tags Raul. Raul hits Adam off the apron, but when he turns around, Ted crawls between his legs and tags Rudy. Rudy comes in with elbows to the head. Shiloh & Coleman get back in, but they are both taken out by a russian leg sweep and spear from the Homers. Ted & Adam both dive out onto them on the outside. Rudy charges Raul in the corner inside the ring, but Ghillie pushes Raul out of the way. Raul grabs Rudy, rolls him up, and gets the 3 as Wayne holds his feet on the ropes for leverage.
WINNERS: COALITION by pinfall.
MY TAKE: The Coalition's numbers game cost Rudy and the Mobile Homers again.

SPECIAL CHALLENGE MATCH: "VIP" Joe Rosa (w/Austin Bradley, J. Best, & Roberto De Luna) vs. King Mo.
Mo picks VIP up and rams him into the corner. He goes for an arm submission, but VIP grabs the ropes. VIP cheap shots Mo and throws him into the corner. He charges, but Mo moves, and VIP rams his shoulder into the ringpost. Mo hits a spinebuster and locks in a rear naked choke submission making VIP immediately tap.
WINNER: KING MO by submission.
Austin, Best, & VIP all try to attack Mo after the match, and Mo knocks each of them out.
MY TAKE: King Mo is a bad man that the VIP Club should now know not to mess with.

OVW TV TITLE MATCH: "The Double R Superstar" Randy Royal vs. Rockstar Spud (c).
Royal & Spud exchange blows, and then chops. Spud hits a spinning kick and a splash on Royal in the corner. Spud runs off the ropes, but Royal catches him with a high knee. Tony Gunn comes out distracting Royal, who yells at him to go to the back. Royal turns around and Spud tries to roll him up in 3 different pinning combinations, but Royal kicks out. Royal throws Spud to the outside, and then goes out and yells at Tony to leave, which he does. Spud catches Royal with a shot to the head, but Royal throws Spud into the barrier wall twice. He throws Spud in and locks in a sleeper. Spud fights out and hits an enziguri. Both men are down and Tony sneaks back out on the floor between the commentary desk and the ring. Spud gets up first as the ref checks on Royal who is also getting back to his feet. Spud runs off the ropes and Tony trips him. Spud gets up and turns around into the knockout forearm from Royal for 3!
WINNER and NEW OVW TV CHAMPION: ROYAL by pinfall.
MY TAKE: Royal needed the title by any means necessary. It has been a long time coming and much deserved for Double R to hold the gold.

OVW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH: Doug Williams vs. Jamin Olivencia (c).
Doug and Jamin lock up. Jamin with a side headlock. Doug gets into the corner and tells the ref to back him up. Doug comes out and gets Jamin in a side headlock. Jamin throws him off into the ropes, but Doug comes back with a shoulder tackle. He tries to pin for 2. Jamin fires back and tries to pin for 2. Jamin takes Doug down and twists his leg. Doug comes back with uppercuts. Jamin reverses Doug in the corner and pounds away. Doug reverses a throw into the opposite corner and charges Jamin. Jamin puts his boot up, but Doug catches it, throws his leg across the second rope, and kicks his hamstring. Doug locks Jamin in an abdominal stretch and hits him in the ribcage. He throws Jamin off the ropes, but Jamin flips over him and rolls him up for 2. After a couple pin reversals, Jamin hits his jumping clothesline, and his jumping reverse splash. He goes for the Standing O, but Doug throws him off, and hits a belly to back suplex. Doug throws Jamin to the outside and rams him into the barrier wall. Jamin makes it in the ring at 9 (which was dumb on Doug's part, because had Jamin been counted out, he wouldn't have won the title). Jamin fires away at Doug, but Doug comes back and rams him in the corner. He delivers a big top rope suplex. Doug goes up top, but Jamin catches him and hits a belly to back off the top. They exchange blows and Jamin starts to get the upper hand. He kicks Doug in the head, and delivers a dropkick. He hits the kamikaze splash on Doug in the corner. He goes up top, but misses a reverse splash from the top. Doug tries to pin for 2. Doug sets Jamin up for a pedigree, but Jamin flips him over. Doug rolls through and tries to pin Jamin with a handful of tights for 2. He hits a high knee on Jamin in the corner, followed by an uppercut off the second rope. He tries to pin again for 2. He throws Jamin off the ropes and tries to backdrop him, but Jamin lands on his feet. He hits the Standing O, but Doug kicks out! Jamin charges Doug in the corner, but Doug moves. Doug goes for Chaos Theory, but Jamin holds onto the ropes. He hits another Standing O for 3.
WINNER and STILL OVW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION: OLIVENCIA by pinfall.
After the match, Doug offers a handshake and Jamin shakes.
MY TAKE: A surprising gesture from Mr. Williams. Has he came to terms with the fact that Jamin was the better man once again?

GRUDGE MATCH: "General" Jason Wayne (w/the Coalition) vs. Sam Shaw.
Shaw takes out the Coalition at ringside and chases Wayne. He slams Wayne's head into the wall at ringside. Wayne comes back and rams Shaw into the ring apron and rolls him in. Shaw comes back with a dropkick and his backbreaker/neckbreaker combo. He hits SHAWshanked and would have had 3, but naturally the Coalition jumps in.
WINNER: SHAW by DQ.
Shaw is getting assaulted when Michael Hayes runs out with a weapon and attacks the Coalition. They start to gang up on him when the locker room empties and chases the Coalition to the outside. Hayes grabs a mic and wants Wayne in the ring. He can make the match since he is the Director of Operations. Wayne says he just battled with Shaw, but he'll send in one of his top men, Shiloh Jonze.
Shiloh Jonze vs. Michael Hayes.
Hayes goes to town on Shiloh, but Shiloh takes control for a short time, taking Hayes down and hitting a kneedrop. Hayes fires back and takes Shiloh down. Hayes "hulks" up and hits a big legdrop on Shiloh with his prosthetic leg for 3.
WINNER: HAYES by pinfall.
MY TAKE: The crowd loves Hayes and was excited that he got some revenge on the Coalition tonight. Will Hayes get back in the ring full-time? If so, will he have to give up his duties as Director of Operations? We'll have to find out next Wednesday night at the next TV taping for WBNA ion-21!

Another fun night of action. Thanks to everyone who participated in and visited OVWmania for the 1-Year Anniversary. As always, thanks for reading!

  1. I'm glad to see Randy Royal win the TV Title. Medical bills not withstanding, he should have receeived a title shot a long time ago.
