OVW TV #829: "And the New Owner Is..."

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, July 8, 2015. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 10PM, and online on Monday at www.ovwrestling.com/tv. In this episode, we find out who the "new sheriff in town" is and they immediately set up a series of matches for tonight, plus special returns, and more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

NO PRE-SHOW DARK MATCHES tonight.

I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on WBNA ion-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 11AM and 10PM (check local listings) and on OVW's official website Mondays at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.

Gilbert Corsey comes out and tells the fans that we are going to get right into it. Most of the referees and superstars from the back come out and surround the ring, and out comes "Nightmare" Danny Davis.
The fans and superstars chant "Thank You Danny". He says he was trying not to be emotional, but he said he needs to thank the fans. He talks about how OVW has been his life for 22 years, so this is hard for him. He got a few offers, one from a female who was offering 7 digits, and call him dumb, but he didn't take it. He wanted to pass it on to someone he can trust will keep OVW's legacy going, long after he's dead. Let's just bring them out...Dean Hill! Dean promises he will continue to see that OVW produces headliner after headliner for all the major wrestling companies. He has some things to take care of. First, King Shane Williams is fired. He then says he suspended Jason Lee & Vic the Bruiser, but can't suspend Randy Royal, since he is the Television Champion, but they will have a talk about that next week. He then tells Jessie Belle to get in the ring. He says she is tough, beautiful, and talented, but needs to be held accountable for her recent actions. He made a call, and brought in a top women's wrestler to face her tonight. Next up, he tells Josh Ashcraft to take the stupid sunglasses off his face and look at him. He says tonight, the War Machine will be defending the OVW Southern Tag Team Titles against Adam Wylde & Mitch Huff...and Josh and the "nutcase" (Trevor Steele) are banned from ringside! Rump Thump comes in and says that he has had his ups and downs, but it was Dean that believed in him and told him he could be a star, a TV champion, and he did. He wants to get to the next level, and wants a match against Eddie Diamond for the OVW Heavyweight Title tonight! Dean says that Rump has worked harder than anyone in OVW, but Eddie has a match against Chris Silvio at Friday Night Fights on the 24th and doesn't want to change too much right away. He will grant Rump a match against Eddie tonight, though, in a non-title match. If he impresses him, he will give him a shot at either Diamond or Silvio at the next Saturday Night Special. He starts to tell everyone to return to the back, but tells Adam Revolver to get in the ring. He says he is tired of Revolver's constant whining and wanting a shot. Tonight, he will have a match against another star he called in. Someone Revolver knows well, because he stabbed him in the back in the past...and that match is next! Before he returns to the back, he can't be in control while announcing, so Gilbert needs a partner. He knows people, so he made another call to "The Pope" Elijah Burke!

Dylan Bostic (w/Ray Lyn) defeats Adam Revolver. Bostic comes out firing on Adam. He's in control until Adam uses Ray Lyn as a shield. Adam pushes Bostic into the ringpost and takes control. Adam hits a superplex and tries to lock in the sleeper. Bostic fights out and eventually connects with the backstabber for the 3.

We see a video of Jade Dawson saying that he (Rev. Stuart Miles) tried to blind him in their match, but this is far from over. This is not the end.

We see the video from Jessie Belle talking about not feeling bad about what she did to Ryan Howe since he "casted her aside", so she might as well be an "Outcast".

Rebel defeats Jessie Belle. Jessie attacks Rebel as she does the splits on her entrance to take the early advantage. Rebel continues to fight back, and connects with a kick to Jessie's head. She then hits a split-legged legdrop across Jessie Belle for the 3.

We see a video of Leon Shelly talking to Rebel in the back. Rebel starts talking about wrestling and being all over the world, but Leon wants to talk about himself. He asks Rebel if she likes his abs? His 'fro? Maybe the fact he can go all night long? Rebel says it would be easier to tell him what she doesn't like. It looks like they might kiss and Leon tells the camera to leave.

Gilbert Corsey brings out Marcus Anthony. Marcus says it felt great to get revenge. There was no better opportunity to return after so many months out. Unfortunately, the doctors say...before he can continue, "The Pope" Elijah Burke gets up and enters the ring.
He tells Marcus he has been in the same place and wishes he knew what Marcus was about to come out and do. Marcus again tries to talk about what the doctors said, but Burke cuts him off. Burke tells him he controls his own destiny and asks if he understands. Marcus tries to talk about what the doctors said again, but Burke slaps Marcus in the face several times until Marcus snaps and pushes Burke into the corner. Burke eases out of the ring and smiles as he feels he finally got his point across.
Shannon the Dude takes over on commentary.

Eddie Diamond defeats Rump Thump. A very good back and forth match that starts with some chain wrestling. EFD ducks a Thump from Rump and hits a running knee. He locks in the Crossfire for the tapout.
After the match, Chris Silvio attacks Eddie and grabs a ladder. He sets it up in the corner and throws Eddie into it. He says after their match on the 24th, they will be calling him "Champion".

We see another video from Dapper Dan Van Zandt. He says that the circus is coming to town in 2 weeks.

OVW SOUTHERN TAG TEAM TITLES: "The Standout" Adam Wylde & "The Chosen One" Mitch Huff vs. "The War Machine": Eric Locker & Big Jon (c) ends in a no-contest. Huff & Wylde are out first and attacked from behind. Huff gets hit with a chair to the back of the leg and then gets his head smashed against a pole with the chair. Wylde spends a large part of the match trying to fend off Locker & Jon, who are decimating him with their power. Locker hits several different suplexes, but they don't put him away. "Primetime" Robbie Walker returns and runs to Wylde's corner. Wylde gets the hot tag and Walker fires away on Locker, eventually hitting him with the Cosmic Kick for the 3!
WINNERS and NEW OVW SOUTHERN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: WALK on the WYLDE SIDE by pinfall.
Dean Hill comes out and says he did approve this and welcome back to Robbie Walker.

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

Jade Dawson defeated Shane Andrews in a back and forth match with the fameasser.

As always, thanks for reading!

  1. So they had a top women's wrestler to come in an fight Jessie Belle. That's cool... if they brought in a top women's wrestler.

  2. Saying that it nice to see an action womens match and also nice to see Rebel working in other places. Now if they could just find other women willing to make the trip to OVW.

  3. You have got to be kidding! What a joke!

  4. Oh WOW! I confess, another one of my guesses was Dean Hill; this is absolutely COOL! Yes, he was possibly the one too because of all of the times he defended Mr. Davis, especially when it come to Randy Royal & the Outcasts; so I should have figured this. But he was a guess that I may have forgotten to mention; but, if I did mention him, then I'm right; he can bring all kinds of possibilities to OVW; especially when it comes to doing something about heels like The Outcasts; maybe he can do a special match involving Ashcraft; this will be COOL!

  5. As for the 'new owner', I honestly was secretly hoping for Jeff Jarrett so he could make OVW the development territory for GFW.

  7. Man how this show has fallen since we left. I love Dean, the guy is like family, but the fact that "legit" wrestling news sites picked up on this as thought it were a shoot, is nothing short of embarrassing.

    1. Easy to make such comments when you are not around. Come back and do something to improve the product or else stop griping.

  8. So many interesting turns they could have taken and they settle with Dean Hill. An anonymous never to be seen boss would have had a far more interesting angle. Too bad, I think they really blew this one.

  9. I didn't know this site existed until literally 10 minutes ago. It's Friday the tenth as a type this and I stumbled across this page looking for results especially in regards to the new owner. I sought out this news after reading on a major site that DD was selling. And while I think Christopher Bolin is about as recognizable as anyone else on the current roster ie I don't know who any of them are, I will agree that this work is embarrassing! First off why try and work the sheets at all? In doing so I think they made a big mistake. The legit news sparked peoples curiosity who may have drifted away or haven't kept up with OVW in a good while. Booking the angle like that and revealing Dean Hill as the ňew "õwner" reminds me of Verne in the AWA in 90. Oh well. Easy come Easy go. If I could do anything and sort of armchair/fantasy book I'd have brought in Les Thatcher as the new owner. He owned the HWA he worked the stick for Smokey Mountain had a great in ring career and ran a pretty productive school.

  10. Dean is a nice enough guy, but I don't believe he has the right temprament for the job. He stood in the ring and slapped Randy Royal, knowing full well Randy could not hit him back. He's too inclined to let his personal feelings influence his decisions. I really believe James Cornette would have been a better choice.

  11. Jim Cornette ? Better Temperment ? Hello ? Have you watched any video of J.C. over the last 30 years ? Really ?

  12. I still wonder how much of this is just storyline. Danny has been in it for a long time, and I can see him selling some of the company to someone he really trusts. Dean's not a spring chicken, but knows the ins and outs and can run things when Danny is unavailable. Just my 2 cents.

  13. REALLY ?! How do you not see this is just a story ? It will be NO time till Dean "HILL" becomes Dean "HEEL"...and then Danny Davies will come back to save HIS company! Book it.
