OVW TV #949: "Unworthy Contender"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, October 25, 2017. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 9PM, and online at www.ovwrestling.com/ovw-media.html. In this episode, the new TV champion Logan James faces Randall Floyd in another rematch, Big Zo faces Tony Gunn to decide a #1 contender for the Heavyweight Title, Jessie Belle faces Cali to decide a #1 contender for the Women's Title, plus more!

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

"The Legacy of Brutality": Dapper Dan & Ca$h Flo (w/"The East End Villain" Josh Ashcraft) defeats "Livewire" KTD & "The Boy Wonder" Sam Thompson. KTD tries some kicks to Ca$h. He goes off the ropes and Ca$h goes for a sidewalk slam, but KTD reverses into a hurricanrana. KTD back with kicks and an armlock. He tags in Sam. They both deliver kicks to Ca$h and take him down. Sam charges, but runs into a wall as Ca$h takes him down hard. Dan tags in and Sam hits a drop toehold. He locks in a side headlock and KTD tags in. KTD with kicks to the chest and tags Sam in, but Josh causes a distraction. Dan throws KTD into Sam who was perched on the top rope. Sam gets chopped hard, then hit on the outside by Josh. Dan tags in and they mug Sam in the corner. Dan locks in a headlock and Sam starts to fire out. He comes back with a clothesline and tags in KTD, as Dan tags Ca$h. Ca$h with a big slam, but misses an elbow. KTD with kicks galore, but Ca$h clubs KTD down hard. Dan gets in and it looks like he is about to clothesline Ca$h, but Ca$h moves and he takes out KTD. Sam is up top and flies off, but the L.O.B. moves and they catch him with the Final Chapter for the 3.

Kevin Giza defeats Damion. Giza with a quick start that sees a dropkick and a 619, but he gets shoved off the top rope going for a high-risk maneuver. Damion bites him, hits eat de-feet, but misses a headbutt. Giza connects with a pedigree for the 3.

Big Jon defeats Cranium. Cranium tries to lock Jon up, but Jon repeatedly tosses him off. Jon with a big suplex. Cranium rolls out and Jon goes for a big chop, but Cranium moves and kicks at Jon's leg. He gets in and stomps Jon as Jon rolls in. He takes off the top turnbuckle and as the ref puts it back on, he low blows Jon and tries to work him over. He runs into a sidewalk slam. Jon splashes him in the corner, then hits the chokeslam for the 3.

#1 CONTENDER'S MATCH for the OVW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: Big Zo vs. "Shotgun" Tony Gunn. Zo takes Gunn down with his power early, and hits a suplex. He goes for the Zo train, but runs into a back elbow. Gunn hits a flying knee, then hits Zo with 3 running elbows in the corner. Zo blocks a suplex by Gunn, but Gunn hammers him down. Gunn goes up and flies off, but is caught. Zo faceplants him. Michael Hayes arrives at ringside. Zo hits a big slam and the Zo bomb, but Hayes pulls the ref out at 2.
He hits the ref and the bell rings. The match ends in a no-contest as Zo & Gunn both fight with Hayes. Hayes says no one will be #1 contender, this is his show.

OVW TELEVISION TITLE MATCH: "The Real Deal" Randall Floyd defeats "The River City Dragon" Logan James (c). They lock up and Randall slaps LJ in the face. They lock up again and LJ acts like he is going to slap Randall, but instead kicks him in the leg. LJ hits a monkey flip and a spinning kick to the gut. Randall reverses a throw in the corner, misses a charge, and LJ kicks him in the face. Randall throws him toward the corner after sliding out of a gut check attempt from LJ. Randall blocks a boot and uppercuts him off the top rope to the outside. Back inside, he gets a 2 and clubs LJ across the back. He catches LJ with a big powerslam, but only gets 2. Randall hits a flip slam and then hits LJ in the back of the neck. LJ rolls to the outside of the apron and Randall goes to DDT him. LJ climbs in, takes Randall down and locks in a calf crusher, but Randall gets to the ropes. LJ dropkicks the knee and hits a running forearm. Randall rolls to the outside and gets back in as it looks like LJ is about to fly. LJ ducks a clothesline, but runs into a huge spinebuster for 2. LJ locks in the calf crusher again, but Randall flips over and pokes LJ in the eye. Randall goes to the top rope, but misses a frog splash. LJ goes to get Randall with his move, the Deal Breaker, but Randall slides off. Randall rolls LJ up with his feet on the ropes and gets the 3. Randall is once again TV champion!

Gilbert Corsey & Ted McNaler are talking about the next Saturday Night Special. The Legacy of Brutality will face Adam Slade & Kevin Giza for the OVW Southern Tag Team Titles, and LJ & Randall Floyd will face off again for the OVW Television Title in a 2-out-of-3 falls match.
They are interrupted by Michael Hayes, who goes on and on about this being his show and how he is chaos. He says Gilbert never talks about his War Games match, but Gilbert says he asks him every week and never gets an answer. Hayes says he should grovel at his feet and ask him until he decides.
Dean Hill comes out and says he met with the Commission today in Frankfort. After they told him he could face suspension for up to a year, they looked at the footage. They stopped the tape about a minute in and said Dean was completely justified in his actions! He said he's back, and Dean Hill's law is back! He said there will be a #1 contender's match tonight, and he throws Hayes out of the building.

#1 CONTENDER'S MATCH for the OVW WOMEN'S TITLE: "Bad Girl" Jessie Belle defeats Cali. A quick opening where both ladies try roll up attempts. David Lee Lorenze III, OVW Women's Champion Jaylee, & the Bro Godz come out to ringside. Jessie hits Cali down in the corner and hits the Kiss My Grits. She hits a suplex, but can't put her away. Cali is back with a spinning neckbreaker, but she can't put Jessie away. Jessie locks her up in a backbreaker submission for the tapout.
After the match, Jaylee clocks Jessie from behind with the title and the Entourage stands over her and poses.

#1 CONTENDER'S MATCH for the OVW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: Big Zo vs. "Shotgun" Tony Gunn. Before the match can even get started, Michael Hayes is back again, attacking Zo from behind upon his entrance. Dean Hill comes out and Zo grabs a mic. He says he wants Hayes in this match. Gunn agrees to it.
#1 CONTENDER'S TRIPLE THREAT MATCH for the OVW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: Michael Hayes defeats Big Zo & "Shotgun" Tony Gunn. Hayes spends a lot of time on the outside, coming in when the time is right to take control or break up pins. Zo hits him with a big side slam for 2 as Gunn breaks the pin. Gunn tries to pin Zo for 2 as Hayes goes out again. Gunn goes for the sharpshooter, but Zo kicks him off and shoulders him in the corner. He throws him to the opposite corner and splashes him. He hits a Samoan drop, but Gunn kicks out at 2. Zo goes off the ropes, and Hayes trips him and pulls him out. They fight on the outside and Gunn jumps off the apron onto both men. He rolls Zo in for 2. Hayes saves Gunn from a powerbomb and convinces him to double team Zo. Zo hits Hayes off then hits Gunn in the corner and splashes him. Hayes is back up and Zo throws him into the corner with Gunn and splashes both of them. He hits a big slam on Hayes and the Are You Serious legdrop for 2. He slams Hayes in position for the Zo bomb and connects. Gunn breaks a pin at 2. Gunn hits a running knee for 2. Hayes pulls the ref out of the ring as Zo slams Gunn. Hayes low blows Zo as he was going for a Zo bomb, then locks in the mandible claw on Gunn and gets the 3.
After the match, Dean Hill comes to the ring and gets in Hayes' face, then Tyler Matrix flies out and goes after Hayes. He hits him, connects with a super kick, and hits him to the back.

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

Chace Destiny defeats Houdini. Houdini infuriates Chace early with his speed. Chace catches him with a side slam. He puts him away with his finisher for the 3.

David Lee Lorenze III & "The Bro Godz": Colton Cage & Dustin Jackson (w/Jaylee) defeat "The Pastor of Disaster" Rev. Stuart Miles, Billy O, & Aloicious Hamilton. Billy takes David down early. David regains control and tags in Dustin. Stu gets tagged in and hits some healing on Dustin before being dropped across the top turnbuckle. He tags Alo, then disappears from the match. David & the Bros work over Alo. The Bros do the splash/dropkick combo, and Bro 69. Alo finally gets a hot tag to Billy, who fires away on the Bros & David. The masked man comes out and takes out the Bros with the chain, but then takes out Billy & Alo. David capitalizes and gets the 3, as Stu just happens to run back out after the masked man goes to the back.
