OVW TV #984: Not A "Smooth" Ending

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, June 27, 2018. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 9PM, and online at www.ovwrestling.com/ovw-media.html. In this episode, Sam Thompson defends the TV Title against Randall Floyd, Ryan Howe & Justin Smooth square up once again in a best 2 out of 3 falls match, Cali & Jessie Belle team up against Jaylee & Valerie Vermin, plus more!

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

Big Zo defeats Flex Murphy. Flex shoves Zo away. Zo then powers Flex down. Flex wants a test of strength and Zo powers him down for a 2. Flex dropkicks Zo into the corner, but off the ropes, Zo tackles him. He hits a big slam, the cartwheel butt bump, then throws Flex in the corner. He hits the cannonball and powerbombs him for the 3.

"The Empire State Goliath" Cardinal defeats Ashton Cove. Cardinal tosses him across the ring and splashes him. He kicks him and chokes him in the corner. He throws him to the other corner, but Cove moves from a charge. He tries 2 dropkicks, but Cardinal takes him right back down. Cardinal with a nasty chop. Cove chops back, but Cardinal chops back. He puts him on the top turnbuckle. Cove kicks him off and dropkicks his knee. He tries to jump off the ropes, but Cardinal chops him out of the air. Cardinal hits 3 suplexes then a release overhead suplex. He locks him in the rear naked chokehold and Cove passes out.

DL3 & Shiloh Jonze defeat "Livewire" KTD & BGB. Some technical exchanges between KTD & Shiloh. KTD locks an armbar and tags BGB. They lock in a double armbar into a Russian leg sweep. Shiloh & DL3 take control after DL3 fakes a leg injury and Shiloh hits BGB from behind. Shiloh chokes BGB behind the ref's back. Shiloh with a big chop, then charges in with a shoulder tackle. DL3 tags in and kicks BGB in the sternum. BGB catches DL3 with a spinebuster and tags out to KTD, as DL3 tags out to Shiloh. KTD fires away and hits a dropkick. He takes DL3 down, then rolls Shiloh up as DL3 fakes another injury. Shiloh pokes KTD in the eye and rolls him up for the 3.

Billy O defeats Christian Hernandez. Some back and forth exchanges early, then Billy starts to fire up. He goes for a big boot, Hernandez catches it, but Billy hits an enziguri. He misses a splash in the corner and Hernandez takes him down for 2. Billy back with a kick to the gut and big splash in the corner. Hernandez reverses a throw to the opposite corner, but charges and Billy moves, so he crashes into the ringpost. Billy hits a spinebuster, then the high knee in the corner and gets the 3.

The Bro Godz are out and Colton Cage says last week they were in for a surprise. It was their biggest challenge, and the War Kings were mean. DL3 & Shiloh Jonze interrupt them. DL3 says he found himself a partner to help them take care of their problem of having the OVW Southern Tag Team Titles. Shiloh says you might remember him from such championship teams as OMG with Johnny Spade, The Wild Cards with Raul LaMotta, and with Crimson, the same guy who kicked their butts last week. DL3 challenges them for the titles on set at SNS. Dustin Jackson says fine, just remember every match has a stipulation. So how about a Texas Tornado, or "Bro-nado" match. Shiloh accepts.

Cali & Jessie Belle defeat Valerie Vermin & Jaylee. Jaylee attacks Jessie from behind and tags in Val. Val stomps her in the corner and kicks her in the chest for 1. She tags Jaylee back in. Jaylee with a kick and tag back to Val. Jessie takes Val down and they both tag out. Cali fires away on Jaylee with clotheslines, then locks in the armbreaker. Val breaks it up. Jessie hits Val down as Cali tosses Jaylee out of the ring. Jaylee grabs a chair and gets in and hits Jessie in the back and Cali in the gut for the DQ. She drops Cali's arm across the chair and locks in an armbreaker on her.

ANARCHY TITLE DOG COLLAR MATCH: Dapper Dan (c) defeats Dimes. Tony Gunn comes out and grabs a mic and says hardcore wrestling is garbage wrestling and Dimes is better than this. While Dan is distracted, Dimes rolls the chain up on his fist and clobbers Dan from behind. Dimes jumps on his back and tries choking him, but Dan falls back. Dan hooks him up and slings him across the ring with the chain. He pulls him into a suplex and then hits the Death Valley Driver for the 3.

After the match, Gunn says he wants to put a stop to this, but he knows Dapper will want a match with weapons. Dapper says fine, he will face him with no weapons. He will get his shot in an evening gown powerbomb match! Gunn is livid.

OVW TELEVISION TITLE MATCH: "The Real Deal" Randall Floyd defeats "The Boy Wonder" Sam Thompson (c) by DQ. Quick back and forth exchanges early. Floyd with an armbar. Sam flips and reverses it, then Floyd cartwheels and reverses it, taking Sam down to the mat. Floyd plows Sam down off the ropes, then backslides him for 2. Sam with a quick rollup for 2. Off the ropes, Floyd catches Sam, but he escapes and rolls Floyd up for 2. He locks in a headlock. Floyd gets up and tries to slam him, but Sam rolls through for 2. Floyd slams Sam and dropkicks him. He slams him and goes for the modified Boston crab. Randy Royal enters the ring and attacks Randall from behind, causing a DQ.

2 OUT of 3 FALLS for #1 CONTENDER: "The Trinidad Titan" Justin Smooth vs. "Wrestling's Rockstar" Ryan Howe. Howe tries a quick rollup for 2. Smooth throws him down, then Howe kicks him. Smooth rams him into the top turnbuckle, then another, then another. Howe headbutts him in the gut and tries to lock in the Whammy Bar. He hits the sliding uppercut and a dropkick. He hits 7 punches in the corner, then Smooth knocks him down. He hits a big overhead press slam for 2. Howe fires back, but runs into a big slam for 2. Smooth tries again, but Howe immediately kicks out. Howe with a shot to the gut, then he pounds away and chops Smooth in the corner. Smooth kicks and hits Howe. He throws Howe over the rope to the apron. Howe shoots back in for 2. He gets up and runs into a big clothesline from Smooth. Howe is on the apron again and fires away. He drops Smooth's head down across the top rope. He then connects with a kick to the head. Howe goes up top. Smooth hits him, and tries to slam him. Howe escapes and scissor rolls him up for the 3 to win fall #1. They go right into fall #2. Howe leaps off the top rope, but Smooth moves and connects with the bicycle kick for the 3 to win fall #2. Smooth goes for another bicycle kick, but Howe pulls down the top rope and Smooth gets hung up. Howe knocks him to the floor. Howe leaps out, but Smooth pulls him off the apron to the floor. Smooth picks him up, but Howe shoves him into the ringpost. The ref starts the 10 count. Howe baseball slides into Smooth's face on the 6 count and the ref restarts the count. Howe goes out and grabs him. He goes for a suplex, but Smooth reverses and suplexes him on the floor. He delivers another one and both men are down. Smooth rolls in at 6, and somehow Howe makes it in at 9. Smooth goes for a spinebuster, but Howe reverses it into a DDT. Both men are now down in the ring. Neither man can make it to their feet, so the ref calls it a double countout for fall #3. The match ends 1-1, so there is still no definitive #1 contender.

DARK MATCH: "The Bro Godz": Dustin Jackson & Colton Cage defeat William Lutz & Dre Blitz. The Bros take it to Blitz, hitting him with a double back elbow, then he tags Lutz. Lutz runs in into a double hip toss. They hit the "BRO" in the corner, then Bro 69. Off the ropes, Blitz kicks Cage in the back. Lutz takes advantage for only a brief moment, before Colton comes back. He hits Lutz with the scissor kick, then Dustin hits the frog splash for the 3.

DARK MATCH: Amon (w/"The Void": Chace Destiny, Houdini, & Nigel) defeats Apollo. Amon has control early, then Apollo tries coming back. He can't keep the Demon down long. Amon shoots back up and finishes him with the STH for the 3.
