OVW TV 1132: Unmasking the Truth

This is the OVW Report for Tuesday, April 20, 2021. OVW TV can be seen LIVE at 8PM ET on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area with repeats Saturday nights at 9PM, and you can also watch via 
Youtube, Roku, Thursdays at 7PM on FITE or Friday nights at 12AM Midnight on YTA! OVW Overdrive can be seen on Saturdays at 11AM on WBNA-21.

In this episode, Jessie Godderz holds an amateur wrestling exhibition, the Tate Twins take on War Hoss, Hy Zaya & Gustavo lock up in Rush Division action, Arie Alexander is in action against Lilith Grimm, plus much more!

OVW Overdrive (Airing Saturdays at 11AM):

Eric Cornish & AJ McKay are on commentary, and the ring announcer is Ms. Stephanie.

Ron Hunt vs. Dustin Jackson
.
Fast-paced offense off the ropes. Hunt smacks Dustin, but misses a dropkick. Dustin hits one of his own. Dustin hits him in the corner, but Hunt kicks him and hits a neckbreaker drop. He goes up top and flies off. Dustin catches him and hits a Michinoku Driver. Dustin goes up and Hunt moves, but Dustin rolls through. He charges, but lands in the corner and Hunt kicks him in the back of the head, then hits a codebreaker for 2. Dustin fires back with clotheslines and hits the running boot to the face. He puts Hunt on his shoulders and hits a neckbreaker off his knee. Dustin goes up again and connects with the Derby City Dive for the 3.
WINNER: DUSTIN by pinfall.

Espirito vs. "Mr. Zero Gravity" AJ Daniels vs. "Picture Perfect" Jordan Kage vs. Star Rider
.
Fast paced offense. Espirito flies out on Kage, Star flips AJ out on both of them. Star goes to fly, but Kage back in with a hard back elbow. All 4 are quickly in and out. Star hits the 5-Star Frog Splash on Kage for the 3.
WINNER: STAR by pinfall.

SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT OPEN CHALLENGE: "Big $" Dimes vs. The Fiji Wildman
.
Fiji with headbutts and not fazed by Dimes attempts at offense. He hits a big Samoan drop. Dimes goes for the powder, but the ref takes it away and screws the lid on tight. Dimes goes for it again and can't get the lid off, but after the ref takes it away and has his back turned, Dimes kicks him below the belt and gets the 3.
WINNER: DIMES by pinfall.

"The Box Office Blonds"
: "Hollywood" Adam Swayze & "Co-Star" Rex vs. KarDaniel "Demolition" Dunn & "The Wayward Warrior" Jared Kripke
.
Adam takes control against Dunn and Rex blind tags and takes Dunn down with a big clothesline. He clubs him across the back and flings him across the ring. Jared tags in and fires away on Rex to no avail. He tries a dropkick and cross body off the ropes, but Rex just stands there unfazed. Adam tags in and throws Jared into a clothesline from Rex that turns Jared inside out. Adam hits Dunn off the apron. As Dunn tries to come back in, the Blonds hit the Director's Cut and Rex takes Dunn off the apron again as Adam gets the 3.
WINNERS: BLONDS by pinfall.

"The Mayan Mauler"
 Drew Hernandez vs. "Rockstar" Ryan Howe
.
They lock up and Drew plows Howe down. Howe gets up and smacks him in the face, then clotheslines him out. He hits him around ringside. He tries to suplex Drew, but Drew blocks it. He goes for the Mayan Apocalypse, but Howe grabs the ropes and kicks Drew in the face from the apron, then jumps on him. Back inside, Howe goes up and Drew catches him with a scoop slam and drops an elbow for 2. Drew clubs Howe in the back, then shoulders him in the corner. He runs into a boot, but Drew catches him with a spinebuster. He pounds him on the mat and stomps his chest. He goes for the Apocalypse again, but Howe blocks it and hits Drew in the corner. Drew out of the corner with an Apocalypse attempt, but Howe slides out and hits an inverted atomic drop. He stomps Drew in the midsection. He goes up top, but Drew meets him and hits him. They exchange blows up top, until Howe headbutts him down. Drew clubs back and climbs back up. He hits a superplex and they are both down. Drew covers for 2. They exchange shots again in the middle of the ring. Drew again goes for the Apocalypse, but Howe rolls through with a sunset flip and gets the 3.
WINNER: HOWE by pinfall.
After the match, Drew attacks Howe from behind. Dustin Jackson runs out and tells Drew to get off of Howe, that's enough. Dustin checks on Howe, but then Drew attacks Dustin from behind and clubs him on the mat.

"War Hoss"
: Crosshairs Kelly & Pat the Bruiser vs. "The Tate Twins": Brandon & Brent.
The Tates use their fast-paced offense to keep the War Hoss off their game and off their feet. They hit a double eat de-feet to Pat to take him out of the ring, then hit Kelly with a combo backstabber and codebreaker for the 3.
WINNERS: TATES by pinfall.

Reverend Ronnie Roberts is out for the Good Word.
Mahabali Shera
 is the special guest. Ronnie asks how Shera got so big and strong. Shera says it's all in the mind and proving how good you can be. Ronnie asks how long he can go undefeated and says he has had some issues with Tom Coffey. Ronnie doesn't understand Shera and asks if he comes with subtitles. Shera gets angry at him as Coffey comes out and hits Shera from behind. They exchange blows and referees and some superstars come out to try and break them apart.

NON-TITLE MATCH: Gustavo vs. Rush Champion "The Hood Ninja" Hy Zaya (w/"The East End Villain" Josh Ashcraft)
They lock up and Gustavo trips him up for a 1 count. Several more quick roll-up attempts for 1 and 2 counts. Hy with a stomp, then hits him in the corner. He hits a hip toss slam. Gustavo back with some forearms, and hits a clothesline off the ropes. He hits a spinning headscissors and Hy is in the corner. Gustavo goes for his finisher, but Hy blocks it and hits him with a leg lariat. Hy gets Gustavo on his shoulders, but Gustavo slides off. Hy with a super kick, then connects with Ninja Vanish for the 3.
WINNER: HY ZAYA by pinfall.

Luscious Lawrence & "Hollyhood" Haley J join commentary.
AMATEUR WRESTLING EXHIBITION: National Champion & Tag Team Champion "Mr. Pec-Tacular" Jessie Godderz 
(w/Shannon the Dude) vs. "The Wayward Warrior" Jared Kripke & KarDaniel "Demolition" Dunn.
Jessie puts Dunn & Jared both in holds, then goes out to Luscious at commentary and says he didn't even break a sweat. Luscious gets in and gets the better of Jessie.
Jessie finally gets frustrated and kicks Luscious. He throws Dunn out of the ring and press slams Jared out. He turns into a butt butt from Luscious and Luscious gets the 3.
WINNER: LUSCIOUS by pinfall.

"The Demon"
 Lilith Grimm vs. "Double A" Arie Alexander.
Grimm displays her power early with a backbreaker and then stands on Arie's hair. She hits a blue thunder bomb for 2. Arie back with a hurricanrana and flying body press for 2. Grimm wraps up Arie, but Arie drops down and hits a chinbuster, then connects with an x-factor for the 3.
WINNER: ARIE by pinfall.
After the match, Arie confronts Shannon the Dude on commentary and says she heard him talking trash on commentary. STD says he said women's wrestling is pointless. She challenges him to a match on Saturday at Retribution. He says he'll bring his boots and title, she can bring him a sandwich from the kitchen in the back! 

All through the night, Ca$h Flo has been on the search for Captain Caribbean, saying he knows it's Omar Amir. He destroys the ringside area searching for him. Caribbean appears on the monitor and says he is not Omar, does he need to bring him out? Omar appears on the screen with Caribbean. Caribbean comes out from under the ring and attacks Ca$h. Josh grabs Caribbean and it allows Ca$h to attack Caribbean from behind. He unmasks Caribbean and it's Omar! Omar hits him and dropkicks him as Josh yells for Al Snow. Will Omar get in trouble and be suspended again? Will he have to vacate the title?

This ended the TV taping.

POST-SHOW DARK MATCH:

Tag Team Champion "Shotgun" Tony Gunn vs. Mahabali Shera.
They lock up. Off the ropes, a huge shoulder block takes Gunn down and he rolls out of the ring. Gunn gets back in and grabs Shera by the hair into a side headlock. Shera powers up and Gunn tries to dive out. Shera grabs him and flips him back in from the apron. Gunn rolls out and types on my keyboard as he takes a breather against the railing. Back inside, he attacks the left knee of Shera and focuses on it. Off the ropes, Shera hits Gunn with a big boot for 2. Gunn avoids a charge and knees Shera in the head as he gets caught up in the ropes. Gunn drops him and covers for 2. He tries again for 2. Another 2. Gunn shoulders him in the corner and knees him in the face. He covers again for 2. Gunn goes for the Killshot, but Shera blocks it and fires back. He clotheslines Gunn and slams him. Shera with a pumphandle backbreaker for 2 as Jessie Godderz breaks the pin.
WINNER: SHERA by DQ.
