First of all, Happy 4th of July! Tonight we got a taste of what's to come this Saturday at the Best of 7 Saturday Night Special, and a BIG announcement regarding a BIG monster who will be representing Danny Davis' team!
Here we go...
Pre-Show Dark Matches:
James "Moose" Thomas & Michael Hayes b. "3G" Eric Wayne & Danny Todd. Early on, Wayne & Todd were able to keep Moose cornered as they took his leg out from underneath him and continued to work it over for most of the match. Moose was finally able to hit the big boot to Wayne, as both men made tags. Hayes came in and cleaned house on Todd, and it was followed up by their double team finisher for the victory. MY
TAKE: Whatever's next for Moose & Michael, they seem to be prepared and on a roll.
Ryan Howe b. Max Wolfgang. For those who may not know, Howe made his return tonight having previously been on WWE's most recent run of Tough Enough where he was labeled "Skidmarks" by Bill DeMott. Howe came out with an electric guitar that he played a solo on before the match got underway. He got a really nice crowd reaction and won in a squash. MY TAKE: Howe could be a star in the making, especially after already having TV exposure.
"Rudo" Raul LaMotta & Shiloh Jonze b. Sean "Virus" Harddrive & Nasty Russ. Early control by Virus & Russ, and there was a cool spot in the corner where Virus did a headstand on the ropes and booted Raul in the face. Eventually, Raul got the hot tag to Shiloh who came in and cleaned house, and they hit a double team maneuver to end it. MY
TAKE: Raul was still complaining about not being picked by Danny Davis, and he might turn off some OVW fans with his bad attitude.
Eddie Diamond b. Sampson. Sampson made his debut here and looked okay. The crowd wasn't very high on this match and was more captivated by Raphael Constantine getting chased around the ring with his ladies by Nick Dumeyer & Tony Gunn. Diamond was able to take advantage after the run around and hit a big DDT for the win. MY
TAKE: Diamond has the charisma, but his size may play a factor in making it big. Gunn & Dumeyer still can't catch Constantine. Maybe they need to set a trap?
Tony Gunn & "Marksman" Nick Dumeyer b. Ricky Chevy & Arik Kristopher. Chevy came out with a can of Alpo dog food telling everyone that he was gonna beat Trailer Park Trash at Homecoming 8 on July 15th as he was bombarded with chants of "Bobby Hill". A little bit of back and forth action early. In the end, Dumeyer made a tag to Gunn who came in and cleaned house, knocking Chevy off the apron, and then getting AK in the bearhug before finishing him with a massive alabama slam. After the match, Gunn snuck up behind Chevy and gave him a bearhug/alabama slam combo for good measure. MY
TAKE: Gunn & Dumeyer were able to keep focus on this match as they continue to go after Raphael for Ralphie.
That concludes the pre-show dark matches. If you plan on watching the show
first, you should pick back up reading later as I move into the
main show. I will always recommend watching the show first before
reading my report. You can find the shows online at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.
The main show starts with Ken Wayne in the ring, and he calls out BS 2.0, Josette Bynum, and the Family. He says years ago, he would have taken out every one of them, but instead of worrying about that, or messing with all the lawyers, he's made the decision to fire all of them! They start crowding around Ken Wayne, when Johnny Spade, Moose, Michael Hayes, & Trailer Park Trash all hit the ring. Spade asks Wayne to reconsider, but he says no. The Voice of OVW, Dean Hill, gets in the ring and asks Wayne to reconsider for the sake of OVW, the fans, and Danny Davis. Davis then comes out and talks to Wayne, and says he'll make a deal. He will go one-one-one with Rob Terry tonight. If he loses, Josette can have control of OVW, and he'll just leave. If he wins, though, SNS will go on as planned. After taking a moment to consider, Ken Wayne says yes. Rob Terry, Josette, and the rest of the Family & BS 2.0 are all laughing knowing there's no way Danny can defeat Big Rob.
"Mr. Pec-Tacular" Jessie Godderz (w/Rudy Switchblade & Josette Bynum) vs. Paredyse
This was sort of a singles match preview of what we may see at SNS. Paredyse came out wrapped in USA balloons for July 4th. While he bickered with Josette before the match started, Jessie attacked from behind and ripped 3 of the 4 balloons off. Jessie took him down with another move and Paredyse fell on the last balloon making a loud pop which got a chuckle from the crowd. Jessie controlled most of this match until a comeback by Paredyse. Paredyse flipped over Jessie trying to roll him up, but Jessie wouldn't go down. Paredyse then pinched him down low making him fall and get the roll up pin. WINNER: PAREDYSE. MY VIEW: Could this be a preview of what will happen at SNS? Of course, you also have to add in Brandon Espinosa, a ladder, and the OVW Southern Tag Team Titles.
Rocco Bellagio (w/Prince Bolin) vs. "Smooth" Johnny Spade
A good back and forth match early with Rocco eventually taking control. A comeback by Johnny Spade saw him nail Rocco with a super kick, but Bolin & Joe Coleman both interfered. Moose & Michael Hayes came out chasing Joe Coleman away. While Spade's attention was on them as he was standing on the top rope, it allowed Rocco to get back to his feet, grab Spade, and hit him with a big chokeslam from the rope for the win. WINNER: ROCCO. MY
VIEW: Seeing as Spade has been the top dog as of late, I was kinda surprised by him losing to Rocco here, but I'm sure he'll be ready to go at SNS.
Rudy Switchblade (w/Jessie Godderz & Josette Bynum) vs. Mohamad Ali Vaez
An interesting matchup here. Josette & Jessie were yelling from the outside, while Rudy was telling Ali in the ring, to just lay down like he needs to do at SNS. Ali refused to and Rudy kept trying to take Ali down to pin him. They kept pushing and shoving as Josette continued to yell at Ali to lay down. She got up on the apron demanding him to lay down and he had his back turned to Rudy who came up behind him and rolled him up for the pin. It didn't look like Ali really tried to fight out of it. WINNER: SWITCHBLADE. MY
VIEW: Will Ali let this happen again at SNS? How much does control by Josette mean to him, and how much does Television Title reign #8 mean?
We then get another chase around the ring between Constantine, Gunn, Dumeyer, and the X2C ladies. Constantine got away again, but one of the ladies, Cyndi Snow, went down and was slow to get up. Luckily, she was okay and just twisted her ankle.
Chris Silvio vs. Cliff Compton (Special Referee: Jason Wayne)
Cliff & Silvio exchanged blows and Wayne kept pulling them apart. Toward the latter part of the match, Cliff & Silvio ran into each other and both men were down. Wayne smiled and went to the outside and grabbed a chair. He got back in the ring and nailed Silvio across the back. He went to do it again, but Cliff got back up and pulled the chair away. He yelled at Wayne and was in his face as Silvio got back up. Silvio twice pushed Cliff and asked him what he was doing thinking Cliff had hit him. Cliff both times shoved him away as he continued to argue with Wayne. Silvio the third time ran across the ring and dropkicked Cliff into the chair, into the corner knocking him out and getting the pin. WINNER: SILVIO. MY
VIEW: Silvio & Cliff have been exchanging blows in recent weeks, and the common denominator seems to be Jason Wayne. Will they be able to work things out, or will this turn into a heated brawl?
Rob Terry vs. Danny Davis
Danny got some blows in early, but Terry took the advantage with his size. Terry went to clothesline Danny, but ended up taking out referee Chris Sharpe. The Family came out, and Jason Wayne, Rudy Switchblade, & Jessie Godderz all beat up on Danny, as Terry went for the pin. Johnny Spade ran out and pulled Sharpe out before the 3, and then super kicked Jason Wayne. Moose, Michael Hayes, & Trailer Park Trash all came out also and TPT got a measure of revenge by knocking Terry out with a roll of coins, the same thing Terry did to him months ago in a SNS match that gave Josette full power. During all of this, Ali stayed on the outside and just watched. Danny Davis got the pin after Sharpe got back up again. WINNER: DANNY DAVIS. After the match, Josette said it didn't matter who Danny Davis picked, because her team had beaten everyone. Danny Davis said that's not true. He said representing him will be Trailer Park Trash, Michael Hayes, Moose, Johnny Spade, and this man...and he tells Josette to look at the monitors. Everyone looks to the TV screens to see IMPACT Wrestling's Monster, ABYSS!
Abyss says he is good friends with Danny Davis and will be the 5th man at SNS! Josette looks like she just saw a ghost. A brawl breaks out in the ring, as OVW stands tall, while Jo-VW hits the road. MY
VIEW: Several months ago, I said Danny Davis would look to enlist help to regain control of OVW, and here comes Abyss! Even more interesting is that he will be involved in the steel cage gauntlet match that is for the vacated OVW Heavyweight Title!
This ended the TV taping.
Post-Show Dark Matches:
Rob Terry, Jason Wayne, Joe Coleman, & Rocco Bellagio b. Johnny Spade, Moose, Michael Hayes, & Trailer Park Trash. This was a good back and forth match with many of the top talents in OVW. In the end, Hayes hit his finisher on Terry, but the pin was broke up causing a brawl to break out with everyone fighting out of the ring, and Hayes & Terry were the legal men in the ring. Terry hit a big chokeslam on Hayes to get the pin. MY TAKE: Will this be the ending to SNS? Will Jo-VW come out on top, or will Danny Davis regain control and get things back to normal?
