OVW Report: TV #674 "Who's Kissing Butt Around Here?"

A great night of TV was filmed tonight at Davis Arena. Going into tonight, we knew we had a contract signing, an announcement from Paredyse, and a TV Title defense from Ali Vaez. Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:
"Mr. Pec-Tacular" Jessie Godderz (w/Rudy Switchblade) b. Tony Gunn (w/"Marksman" Nick Dumeyer & Ralphie). Gunn started with some comedy as he first acted like he was blowing his muscles up, as he posed to Godderz who didn't look impressed. After an early advantage, Gunn was thrown into the ropes by Godderz who dropped to the mat. Gunn came back off the ropes and laid on the mat beside him. Gunn & Godderz kept leapfrogging over each other, until Gunn tricked Godderz into leapfrogging over him by the ropes, and Godderz leapfrogged out of the ring and onto the floor. After some interference from Rudy, Godderz was able to take the advantage and worked over Gunn for a while. Gunn started to make a comeback and hit Godderz with his signature airplane spin. As he went for the bearhug, Rudy ran around the ring and shoved Dumeyer into the ring, distracting the referee and Gunn. Godderz was able to sneak up from behind and roll up Gunn with a handful of tights for the victory. MY TAKE: Gunn got derailed a bit after being on quite a winning streak. What's next for him after losing to the underhanded tactics of the Best Team Ever?

Chris Silvio (w/Mo Green) b. Sampson. Silvio's entrance was once again interrupted by Cliff Compton who said Silvio was a wannabe and he was going to time his match and beat his time. Silvio quickly got the win in 1:45 with the rocket punch. Silvio and Mo went to the announce table and took Cliff's timer as he got in the ring and awaited his opponent...

Cliff Compton b. Dylan Bostic (w/Taeler Hendrix). Compton controlled most of this quick match, but as he went to the top rope, Mo distracted him, and he proceeded to chase Mo around ringside. Cliff got back in the ring and defeated Dylan with the inverted piledriver, but Silvio said it took him 10 seconds longer. MY TAKE: Silvio & Compton continue to try and one up each other. Is OVW big enough for the both of them?

That concludes the pre-show dark matches. If you plan on watching the show first, you should pick back up reading later as I move into the main show. I will always recommend watching the show first before reading my report. You can find the shows online at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.

The main show starts with Gilbert Corsey in the ring for the OVW Heavyweight Champsionship Contract Signing for the August 4th Saturday Night Special between Jamin Olivencia and the champion, Johnny Spade. Gilbert talks about how they met for the title months ago at Derby Park in Spade's first title reign, and Spade came out victorious. He asked Jamin why this time would be different. Jamin said he's focused, and even though he missed out last time, when he gets knocked down, he comes back, and he comes back as a ball of fire. He then asked Spade about the match. Spade said he was planning on things happening just like the last time they met, and he would retain the title. Jamin said it wasn't gonna happen, and asked Spade whose butt he had been kissing anyway. He said Spade continues to get title match after title match, and at the last SNS, he was the last man to enter and win the title after Abyss, yes Abyss, he says in case you didn't hear him, Abyss, took out Rob Terry for Spade to pick the bones for him to win. Spade said to hold up, if anyone had been kissing butt around here, it's Jamin. He says Jamin comes and goes as he pleases, and where does he go? He says he disappeared when he was in a play in Louisville called "The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity" where he played a wrestler...good acting! He then says the last time he was gone, he told everyone on twitter and facebook he hurt his ankle, but in reality, he was off filming a reality show. Yet, he came back and was thrown into a match where he did beat 5 other men to become #1 contender, but how was he able to come right back and even get that shot? He must've been kissing butt. Gilbert says each competitor has strong words, and asks each of them to sign the contract, which they do as they stare each other down.

In the back, Brandon Espinosa asks Paredyse what his big announcement is, and Paredyse said he was going to wait and tell everyone at the same time, but he'll let Espy know now...he's going to be on Broadway! Espy says what about the Nightmare Cup tournament? Paredyse looks disappointed, but Espy says they can figure it out later, as he is happy for him, and wants to throw him a going away party. We then see Chris Bolin talking to his group, BS 2.0, and saying that he's got a plan for tonight, and they are going to win the Nightmare Cup.

We then get another video from the mobile home park where Ted McNaler & Adam Revolver really seem to be getting along and working well together. Along with Brittany DeVore, they work on the farm and drink beer, and say that one more time they should give it a go...return as the Ma-Ma-Ma, Ma-Ma-Ma, Mobile Homers!

Back in the arena, the music of BS 2.0 hits, and out comes the entire group ready for the Nightmare Cup. Trailer Park Trash makes his way out with his assistant, Josie, who he asks to pick up a piece of paper he dropped. He says in the first round of the Nightmare Cup, Jason Wayne & Rocco Bellagio will take on...Jack Black & Joe Coleman!
First Round of the Nightmare Cup: BS 2.0 (Joe Coleman & Jack Black) vs. BS 2.0 (Rocco Bellagio & Jason Wayne)
Bolin demanded Black & Coleman just lay down, but they argued and didn't want to. Wayne & Rocco attacked them from behind, and ended up pinning Coleman with a handful of tights to win. WINNERS: BS 2.0's ROCCO & WAYNE. MY VIEW: It will be interesting to see if there's any aftermath or dissention between the group after they were forced to fight each other, or if they'll let bygones be bygones.

Backstage again, we see Heidi Lovelace & Jessie Belle taking part in a photoshoot as Taeler Hendrix awaits her turn, and tells Dylan she wants to look good. Raphael Constantine walks in and sees the ladies, and asks where his ladies are. Heidi & Jessie say they heard something about a video they were doing. Constantine looks shocked, saying an audition, now a video? Espinosa walks in and asks Heidi & Jessie if they would like to participate in Paredyse's party, and they are excited to be a part of it.

Jay Best vs. Ryan Howe
Basically another squash here for the rocker, Ryan Howe. His guitar playing before the match lasted longer than the match itself. He won quick after hitting the "Rockdropper". WINNER: HOWE. MY VIEW: Howe continues to evolve his look and gimmick and picks up another win. How long before he works his way into title contention?

Next, we have the ring set up with pink balloons, presents, and I kid you not, a giant Hello Kitty balloon and a Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana balloon for Paredyse's going away party. Espinosa, who is now coming out to a punk rock version of Lady Gaga's "Born This Way", called out Paredyse. They opened a present or two, before Paredyse said the present he wants most is a kiss. Before anything can happen, the party is interrupted by the Best Team Ever, who still has a beef with the Mascara Mafia. They tell everyone to clear the ring and they can settle things right now. As Paredyse & Espy are yelling at Rudy & Jessie to get in the ring, Shiloh Jonze & Raul LaMotta sneak in the ring and attack the Mascara Mafia from behind. The Best Team Ever enters, but Shiloh & Raul fight with them too. Michael Hayes & Moose run out and help the Mascara Mafia clear the ring. Trailer Park Trash makes his way out and tells everyone to leave except for Raul & Shiloh. He tells them they have a match in the first round of the Nightmare Cup. Raul says it's about time they got recognized for something. MY VIEW: Seeing as the Mascara Mafia advanced in the Nightmare Cup, you have to wonder what will happen with Paredyse's temporary departure. Will Espy still be allowed to compete with a new partner? Also, what's the deal with Raul & Shiloh? We know they were upset over being passed up, so are they loners now, after fighting with both the Mascara Mafia & The Best Team Ever?

Trailer Park Trash brings out the opponents for Raul & Shiloh...the return of the Mobile Homers!

First Round of the Nightmare Cup:"Rudo" Raul LaMotta & Shiloh Jonze vs. The Mobile Homers (w/Brittany DeVore)
Ted & Adam came out on fire and won pretty quickly with their double-team finisher on Raul. WINNERS: MOBILE HOMERS. MY VIEW: The crowd was glad to see the reunion of the Mobile Homers, especially after the last several months of their bickering and fighting. Kind of surprised to see Raul & Shiloh beaten so quickly, especially after their new look and attitude.

Backstage again, and Silvio & Compton are arguing. Compton says no one cares about his spelling bee entrance and everyone pops big when he comes out. He also says Silvio is a Cliff Compton wannabe, because he has his old manager, his sunglasses, etc. Silvio says he wishes he was half the talent he was. Compton says they settle this next week, both of them will go out to the ring and let the fans decide who is more popular.

OVW Television Title: Raphael Constantine vs. Ali Vaez (c)
Before this match officially started, Rob Terry came out and grabbed Constantine by his foot and drug him out of the ring to the floor where he choked him out before taking him out with a massive clothesline. He told the referee to ring the bell, and the ref called the match a win for Ali as a result of a knockout. WINNER: ALI. After the match, Ali & Terry had a staredown before Terry went back to the back. MY VIEW: It looks as if we might have a showdown at the next SNS for the TV Title between Ali & Big Rob.

Rudy Switchblade (w/"Mr. Pec-Tacular Jessie Godderz) vs. "Smooth" Johnny Spade
Before this match officially started, Jamin Olivencia came out for commentary. A good back and forth match. Spade was set up for the super kick, but Godderz grabbed his foot. Jamin jumped up from the announce table and went after Godderz, chasing him to the back. Rudy tried to pin Spade, but Spade kicked out. Godderz ran back out thinking Rudy had won, but was wrong. Jamin stood behind Godderz, and when he turned around, Jamin decked him. This distracted Rudy, which allowed Spade to roll Rudy up and get the pin. WINNER: SPADE. After the match, Jamin & Spade stood back-to-back and fought the Best Team Ever off. MY VIEW: It appears, for now, that Jamin & Spade are still fighting alongside each other, even after the harsh words they exchanged earlier in the show. These two athletes have a ton of respect for each other, but what will happen between them as we creep closer to SNS? Is it possible that we could see a tag team main event between Spade & Jamin and the Best Team Ever next week?

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:
Ricky Chevy came out and said he lost at Homecoming 8 to Trailer Park Trash and wanted to apologize when the Assassin's music hit. Chevy hightailed it out the side door, and we went a week without the Assassin laying anyone out.

Michael Hayes & James "Moose" Thomas b. "Nasty" Russ & Sean "Virus" Harddrive and the Street Kings in a 3 team challenge. Moose controlled early, but after tagging in Michael, Michael was taken down by all 4 men while the ref was distracted. Michael ended up getting the hot tag back to Moose, who came in and cleaned house. Everyone hit the outside, except for Nasty Russ, who tried to climb up the turnbuckle and out of the ring, but was caught by Moose. Moose & Michael hit their double team finisher for the win. MY TAKE: Moose & Michael continue to be one of the hottest tag teams in OVW. Are they the favorites to win it all in the Nightmare Cup?

Rob Terry b. Brandon Espinosa. Espinosa used a lot of Paredyse's tactics early, rubbing on Terry, and smacking his backside, among other things. Terry ended up taking control and with the clear size advantage, was able to pick up the victory after hitting a massive chokeslam. MY TAKE: Terry appears ready and focused to go after Ali and his TV Title.
