OVWmania Presents: OVW Top 20 (Ed. 36)

This is the OVW Top 20 for the week of January 22-28, 2013 exclusively on OVWmania. Each category features the champion followed by the top contenders. After celebrating 700 episodes and heading into the February Saturday Night Special, how have the rankings changed this week?

TOP 10 SINGLES

"THE WELSH COLOSSUS" ROB TERRY
OVW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION
LAST WEEK: Big Rob learned that his next opponent for the gold is one he is very familiar with. Will that help his chances of retaining at SNS?

#1) DOUG WILLIAMS
LAST WEEK: The veteran has been on quite the roll knocking off Johnny Spade in a steel cage and then defeating the "Moose" to become #1 contender for the OVW Heavyweight Title. Can he win the big one at SNS?

#2) "MR. MULTIMEDIA" CLIFF COMPTON
OVW TELEVISION CHAMPION
LAST WEEK: Cliff was goaded into defending the OVW TV Title against Jamin Olivencia again...in a ladder match again! Will "Mr. Multimedia" have a repeat performance?

#3) "SMOOTH" JOHNNY SPADE
LAST WEEK: Spade came out to watch the #1 contender's match and that's ALL he did as he watched Flash Flanagan interfere and did nothing to try and stop it. Why didn't Johnny help out?

#4) "THE KING OF PINK" DYLAN FREAK'N BOSTIC
LAST WEEK: "The Ken of OVW" is silently climbing through the ranks racking up an impressive streak of wins. He should keep an eye on the ladder match at SNS, because he should be in contention for the OVW TV Title.

#5) JAMES "MOOSE" THOMAS
LAST WEEK: Moose fought a tough match with the veteran Doug Williams, but thanks to interference from Flash and no help whatsoever from Johnny Spade, lost the match and an opportunity to challenge for the OVW Heavyweight Title.

#6) JAMIN OLIVENCIA
LAST WEEK: Jamin moves up after getting a rematch with Cliff Compton and leaving him on the mat last week. Will the sequel be better than the original?

#7) "THE DOUBLE R SUPERSTAR" RANDY ROYAL
LAST WEEK: Randy continues to improve in the ring as his health hopefully continues to improve also. Another win with his friend Tony Gunn moves him on up.

#8) TONY GUNN
LAST WEEK: Tony helps Randy Royal again, this time in tag action and moves back up the ranks behind his good friend.

#9) FLASH FLANAGAN
LAST WEEK: Flash thought he had figured out a way to get what he wanted again, but asking for a rematch backfired when Trailer Park Trash told him the rematch would not be against Rob Terry, but TPT in a last man standing match!

TOP 5 TAG TEAMS

THE COALITION: "General" Crimson & "The He-Man of Homeland Security" Jason Wayne
OVW SOUTHERN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS
LAST WEEK: The 2 former OVW Heavyweight Champions were able to fend off the Mobile Homers last week, but were upset when told they would have to defend the belts against Shaw & Silva again at SNS.

#1) THE GUTCHECKERS: Sam Shaw & Alex Silva
LAST WEEK: Silva & Shaw went above the Coalition's heads and talked to "Donny" at the Pentagon about invoking their rematch clause at SNS. Can they reclaim the gold?

#2) THE MASCARA MAFIA: Paredyse & Espy
LAST WEEK: Paredyse & Espy were offended by the Mobile Homers last week. The Mobile Homers were hot after their loss, and the Mafia took exception to their prejudiced talk. Will these two teams kiss and make-up?

#3) THE MOBILE HOMERS: "Manbeast" Ted McNaler & Adam Revolver
LAST WEEK: Ted & Adam could have lined themselves up for a shot at tag team gold by defeating Wayne & Crimson, but Flash derailed their plans. They were understandably upset and said some things they probably didn't mean to that upset Paredyse & Espy.

#4) THE WILD CARDS: Shiloh Jonze & "Rudo" Raul LaMotta
LAST WEEK: These 2 made their presence known by ganging up on the Mobile Homers and leaving them under the American flag.

TOP 5 FEMME FATALES

JESSIE BELLE
 OVW WOMEN'S CHAMPION
LAST WEEK: Jessie had her issues with Taeler Hendrix, but she has to refocus on a new #1 contender in Epiphany at SNS.

#1) EPIPHANY
LAST WEEK: Eddie Diamond's "boo" has a shot at the Women's Title at SNS. If she wins, EFD's heart will probably spin out of control.

#2) TAELER HENDRIX
LAST WEEK: Taeler's recent losing streak has cased her to spiral out of control. The only thing calming her down is the mysterious gifts she keeps receiving, but from who?

#3) JOSETTE BYNUM
LAST WEEK: Josette told Flash to interfere all night last week to get what he wanted. She didn't know what they wanted would turn into something completely different. Now her man Flash will be in a last man standing match with Trailer Park Trash.

#4) HEIDI LOVELACE
LAST WEEK: Heidi is silently awaiting her opportunity to break out and get back in the title picture.

MISSING THIS WEEK'S CUT:
-RUDY SWITCHBLADE
-EDDIE DIAMOND
-JACK BLACK
-JOE COLEMAN
-RYAN HOWE

***Thanks to "Mr. SC" for his votes/contributions to this week's rankings.***

1 comment:

  1. You recently commented that you believed Taeler would be making more appearances on IMPACT. How did you reach that conclusion? The previous two times (June and September), when the belt was exchanged, the hypothesis was that the fans would see her migrate towards TNA. That did not occur. Of course, all in fun, but what is your take? Thanks again for the postings.
