OVW TV #708: "Hey Now, You're a Rockstar"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, March 13, 2013. This episode can be seen online starting tomorrow at www.ovwrestling.com/tv. In this episode, Jay Bradley is back in action, Jamin Olivencia wants a rematch with Doug Williams, Cliff Compton defended the OVW TV Title, The Coalition's Delta Team Bravo & Delta Squad Alpha get a stern talking to from their generals, Eddie Diamond takes another shot at winning over Epiphany, plus more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

Matt & Chase King (w/"VIP" Joe Rosa & the VIP Club) vs. The Mobile Homers: Ted "Manbeast" McNaler & Adam Revolver.
No Brittany Devore as she is off getting a makeover with Paredyse. Ted locks up with Matt, and locks him in an armbar. Adam comes in and kicks the arm. Back in the armbar, Adam elbows the arm and tags Ted back in. Ted runs off the ropes and kicks the arm. They deliver a double hip toss to Matt, and then one to Chase who runs in. Adam delivers another hip toss to Matt, and runs off the ropes where he is drug out by J Best & Austin Bradley. Adam fights both of them off as Matt distracts the ref and VIP pulls Adam out and slams his head on the ring apron. Matt picks Adam up after he is rolled back in, but Adam fights back and tags Ted. Ted hits a double clothesline on both Kings, an underhook suplex, and then he & Adam hit the Double Wide for the victory.
WINNERS: HOMERS by pinfall.
MY TAKE: Ted & Adam get back on the right track with a win, but are they worried about Brittany being with Paredyse?

Jeremiah Plunkett vs. Bodyguy.
Plunkett throws Bodyguy off the ropes and hits a shoulder block. He stomps him and throws him in the corner. He charges, but Bodyguy moves, rolls up Plunkett, and gets the 3 with his feet on the ropes.
WINNER: BODYGUY by pinfall.
MY TAKE: Plunkett was beside himself that he went from being in control to losing...to Bodyguy.

"The Irish Redhead Bombshell" Taeler Hendrix vs. Holly Blossom (w/Hannah).
Taeler gets Holly in a headlock, throws her into the ropes, and takes her down. Holly comes back with an arm drag and pin attempt for 2. Taeler locks her in an armbar, and uppercuts her arm. Holly fights out, hits a flying forearm, clothesline, but misses a dropkick. Taeler goes to grab her, but Holly rolls her up for 3.
WINNER: BLOSSOM by pinfall.
MY TAKE: Taeler has not been able to figure out the Blossoms since their return.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on OVW's official website late Thursday afternoon/evening at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.

"Dirdey" Jake Dirden vs. "Lonesome" Jay Bradley.
Bradley locks up with Dirden into the corner. He hits Dirden, throws him into the opposite corner, and hammers him. He hits a big slam, followed by a spinning forearm into the back. He throws Dirden off the ropes and hits a big boot. He turns around and Johnny Spade has entered the ring and Spade fires away. Bradley goes down and rolls out of the ring. Moose then comes out and goes after Bradley. Moose & Spade exchange giving chops and blows to Bradley. Moose charges Bradley, but Bradley moves, and Moose plows over Spade. Moose continues to fight with Bradley. Moose turns around and catches a super kick attempt from Spade. He charges Spade, but Spade comes out of the corner and gets met with a Boomstick. Moose turns around and comes out of the corner and gets hit with a Boomstick from Bradley as well.
WINNER: BRADLEY by DQ.
MY TAKE: Bradley has definitely caught the attention of Moose & Spade, but put both of them down with the Boomstick.

Paredyse is shown talking to Brittany and says she will be shown off to the world next week. As Brittany walks off, another lady shows up on the screen and says she thinks Brittany looks beautiful as well.

Jamin Olivencia comes out and says he wants a rematch with Doug Williams right now. Doug comes out and says no. He says only former champions get rematches, not challengers. Michael Hayes comes out and says that Doug is right, Jamin doesn't get a rematch, but he can get another opportunity. There will be two matches tonight, with the winners facing off to become #1 contender next week. It will be Rob Terry vs. Crimson, and Jason Wayne vs. Jamin Olivencia.
MY TAKE: Can Jamin win 2 big matches to get back to #1 contender, or will Big Rob or one of the Coalition Generals get a shot?

The Coalition is out and Jason Wayne yells at Delta Squad Alpha & Delta Team Bravo (Jack Black, Joe Coleman, Shiloh Jonze, & Raul LaMotta) that they haven't won in a long time and are becoming too complacent. They better show something tonight...
The Coalition's Delta Squad Alpha & Delta Team Bravo: Jack Black, Joe Coleman, Shiloh Jonze, & Raul LaMotta vs. Elvis Pridemoore, Albert Einstein Baxter II, Stephon J. Baxter III, & "Marksman" Nick Dumeyer.
The Coalition attacks as Dumeyer's team can barely get into the ring. They take out Dumeyer, take out Elvis, take out Albert, and take Stephon out last, pinning him after Black hits Bombs Away.
WINNERS: COALITION by pinfall.
MY TAKE: The Coalition took care of business, but could their generals do the same later in the night?

Eddie Diamond comes out with Timmy Danger & Bobbi Bardot. Timmy says Eddie is going to try again with Epiphany, but to listen to him and he'll tell him what to say. Eddie asks Epiphany to give him another chance, and she shows up in the balcony. He sweet talks her with the assistance of Danger, and asks her to come down. She motions down to him to wait for her. He starts jumping around excited. As he's waiting, the match that started last week between Rudy Switchblade & Jessie Godderz continues. They fight around the ring and into the ring. Both of them accidentally hit Diamond, and Diamond gets caught in between them as they fight to the back. Danger & Bardot follow them to the back as Epiphany emerges and sees an empty ring.
MY TAKE: Poor Eddie just can't catch a break. Will he ever get his chance with Epiphany?

In the back, the Coalition brings someone into their special meeting place with a bag on their head. They say it is a former ally, and it turns out to be Doug Williams who wants to make a special arrangement with them regarding their matches tonight.

OVW TELEVISION TITLE: Rockstar Spud vs. "Mr. Multimedia" Cliff Compton (c).
Cliff hits Spud and chokes him in the ropes. He throws him in the corner, but is caught with a boot. Spud hits a neckbreaker, but only gets 2. Cliff smacks him around, but Spud hits back, only to get a knee to the gut. Cliff puts his hand around Spud's throat, but Spud breaks out and catches Cliff in a roll up for 3!
WINNER and NEW OVW TV CHAMPION: SPUD by pinfall.
MY TAKE: One of TNA's newest stars is the new TV Champion, shocking the fans and especially Cliff. A major win for the Rockstar.

#1 Contender Semifinal: "The Red Baron of Ruthless Reconaissance" Crimson (w/Delta Team Bravo) vs. "The Welsh Colossus" Rob Terry.
Crimson kicks Terry and locks him in a side headlock, but Terry flings him off. Crimson rolls out. When he gets in, he locks Terry up from behind and hammers him across the back. He locks Terry's arm up behind his back and smacks him in the head. Terry throws him into the corner and charges, but Crimson moves and rolls out again. Crimson gets in and grabs Terry's leg, but Terry slings him off. He slams him hard and locks in a full nelson. Crimson gets his feet on the ropes and the ref tells Terry to let go, so he does, and Crimson falls to the mat. Crimson rolls out again. Terry grabs him by the head and flips him back inside. He clotheslines him and tries to pin, but Crimson kicks out at 2. Rob throws him in the corner, but meets a boot. Crimson puts Terry in a camel clutch, but Terry returns to his feet and rams Crimson back first into the corner. He hits a powerslam as Shiloh & Raul jump up on the apron to distract him. They get down as Crimson returns to his feet. Terry turns around and is met with a spear, and Crimson gets the 1-2-3.
WINNER: CRIMSON by pinfall.
MY TAKE: Crimson gets a chance to go back after the OVW Heavyweight Title once again, but will he be meeting Jamin Olivencia or his Coalition cohort Jason Wayne next week?

#1 Contender Semifinal: "The He-Man of Homeland Security" Jason Wayne (w/Delta Squad Alpha) vs. Jamin Olivencia.
Doug Williams comes out first and joins Gilbert Corsey & Michael Titus on commentary. Wayne throws Jamin down, but Jamin comes back and jumps on Wayne's back, placing him in a sleeper hold. Wayne breaks out, pushes Jamin off, and Jamin goes for the Standing O, but Wayne carries him over to the ropes and places him outside on the ring apron. He then hits a clothesline. Wayne throws Jamin in the corner and charges into him with a shoulder into Jamin's gut. He elbows Jamin in the back, and pounds away on the mat. Jamin starts fighting back, but Wayne catches him off the ropes with a back elbow. He places Jamin in a bearhug, but Jamin fights out and slides around him trying to roll him up. Wayne grabs him and throws him into the corner. He charges, but Jamin jumps up and spins over Wayne, rolling him up for 2. Wayne throws Jamin out of the ring, and Coleman & Black throw Jamin into the ringpost. Referee Chris Sharpe throws Black & Coleman out from ringside. Jamin comes back with a big dropkick. He hits his kamikaze splash in the corner and goes up top. Wayne comes after him, but Jamin hits him away. Wayne turns around, and Jamin jumps off and hits a Standing O from the ropes to get the pin.
WINNER: JAMIN by pinfall.
MY TAKE: Jamin is one step closer to going back after the OVW Heavyweight Title and Doug Williams, but first, he has to defeat Crimson next week.

This ended the TV taping.

At intermission, Rudy & Jessie came out fighting around the ring some more, with Eddie Diamond still stuck in between them. EFD finally escapes and tells them to figure it out. The lights go out and the Assassin comes out. Jessie runs off and Rudy gets clotheslined. After the Assassin leaves, Jessie runs back out and tries to pin Rudy, but Rudy kicks out at 2. They fight to the back once again, still without a winner.

Post-Show Dark Match:

The Mascara Mafia: Paredyse & Espy vs. New School: Alex Silva & Sam Shaw.
The Mafia attacks Silva & Shaw before the bell. Shaw gets tossed out of the ring and Silva gets worked over in the Mafia's corner. Paredyse grabs Silva by the leg, and Espy tags in and drops an elbow. They continue with submissions and tags in and out. Silva kicks both of them as they charge him in the corner, and plows through Paredyse to get the tag to Shaw. Shaw dropkicks both of them, hits a neckbreaker on Espy, and goes for the pin, but Paredyse breaks it up. Paredyse & Espy throw Shaw off the ropes, he ducks a double clothesline attempt, tags Silva, and Shaw & Silva each dropkick Espy & Paredyse. Shaw gets down, and Silva runs up and off his back to hit a Silva Surfer on Paredyse. Silva hits the half stunner on Espy, and Shaw hits the dropkick to the back. Silva goes back to Paredyse and pins him for the 3.
WINNERS: NEW SCHOOL by pinfall.
MY TAKE: New School continues to show off their exciting skills and picks up another big win.

Don't forget this episode will be up online tomorrow. Also remember that every Monday night you can find the latest edition of the OVW Top 20 here on OVWmania. As always, thanks for reading!

  1. Wow! Looks a great show tonight! Thanks. Surprised about the TV champ. Still think it should be Royal's. So.. and I have asked this one before... Really, what is your take. I am disappointed. For her fans, why does OVW continue to regulated the very popular Irish Bombshell to dark matches, where none of her 15K plus fans get to see her? And still have her loosing matches? Huh? And the suddenly returning Blossom's version 2.0, are who just as popular are winnning not only dark matches but house events? Where's Heidi and the champ? Why not capitaize on these fan bases. You are there to see it and we can't? So your honest comments would be appreciated! Thanks for the awesome job!

    1. Mixing things up and trying to keep it fresh? I'm sure the Blossoms, like Spud, will get more time on camera. The champ is currently mixed up in Eddie Diamond's bumbling attempts to win her over.

  2. Nothing against Rockstar, but I still think the title shot should have been Randy's. By coming back from his heart attack, he has already proven he is a champion.

  3. Thanks Brian. Mixing it up? That's what they did when they brought Taryn into the ring. Now with the Blossoms, I am not sure, since it appears that their roles have not changed. Especially after the huge build up at TNA. Many fans thought they would see more of TH on IMPACT. That has yet to occur and now, they are not even seeing her on OVW.
And I concur with the other comment. I think right now we all need heroes and RR would have been perfect. Would have thought that OVW would have capture the momentum. At first, I totally disapproved of his character and the build up he had last year with Taeler. As a virtual fan, I found it awkward to watch. Now he is a real hero for many fans. I hope the scripters have something positive planned for him.
    Keep up the great work.

    1. If you read the last SNS results, you will see at the end where Trailer Park Trash powerbombed her through a table. She has not been seen since, presumably recovering from the impact.

  5. I'm so happy for rockstar spud for winning the TV title, but also very sad .. because that means that we won't be seeing him on IMPACT anytime soon yet ...

same goes for jay bradley ...

I'm waiting for those two, along with crimson, the blossoms, taeler hendrix and new school to debut on IMPACT again this year ! would help many divisions !!

    1. I think there's a good chance of seeing Jay Bradley show up tonight on IMPACT.

Spud & Taeler will be working some upcoming live events in the Kentucky area against Jessie Godderz & Velvet Sky.

All of the names you mentioned are great talents and future stars. I would be willing to bet you see many of them again before the end of 2013.

    1. Thats stupid, but glad to see Compton move to a higher level. I loved him in OVW. I had the chance to meet him in the parking lot. Took pictures and signed pictures. He is kind of scary up close.

    2. It's not definite he's gone, but if he's gonna be traveling back and forth, and there's a chance he misses some shows down here, it's probably best to have the title on someone else now.
