OVW TV #935: "Nightmares to Sleepers"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, July 19, 2017. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 9PM, and online at www.ovwrestling.com/ovw-media.html. In this episode, we start with a "Nightmare" as Danny Davis is awarded with a Lifetime Achievement Award, we end with OVW Heavyweight Champion Adam Revolver and his patented "sleeper" hold in action, plus more!

Gilbert Corsey, Ron Hed, & Dr. Ted McNaler on commentary, and Ron is the ring announcer.

Gilbert Corsey is in the ring. Almost all the OVW superstars and Dean Hill come out for the Lifetime Achievement Award ceremony, being presented to OVW founder "Nightmare" Danny Davis. Before Gilbert gets started, Dean says a special guest is here who has been heavily involved in OVW over the years, and he brings out Al Snow. Gilbert brings out representatives from the KBWA, and then Danny. They say they wanted to start a hall of fame and looking at what all OVW has meant to the state, as well as being representative of sending athletes on to the "big stage", whether it be WWE or Japan, they couldn't think of anyone better to give the first award to than Danny. Danny says he is humble away from the ring, and hopes he lives up to it. He talks about watching wrestling with his grandpa in black and white, and how his mother helped him get into the business, and if it wasn't for her, this wouldn't be possible.

After the ceremony, Danny says he is going to offer an opportunity to someone right now. He calls LJ, Billy O, the Bro Godz, Zo, David Lee Lorenze III, Adam Slade, Shane Andrews, Randall Floyd, & Kevin Giza in the ring. There will be a battle royal right now when he rings the bell and the winner gets a shot in the main event at the OVW Heavyweight Title!

OVW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE OPPORTUNITY BATTLE ROYAL: LJ defeats Billy O, the Bro Godz, OVW TV Champion Big Zo, David Lee Lorenze III, Adam Slade, Shane Andrews, Randall Floyd, & Kevin Giza. LJ eliminates Colton Cage, Billy eliminates Dustin Jackson, Zo eliminates Slade after Slade takes a lap around the ring, LJ eliminates Floyd, Zo eliminates Billy, Lorenze eliminates Giza after his assistant sprays hairspray in Giza's face, Lorenze & LJ & Shane all work together to eliminate Zo, Lorenze eliminates Shane after Josh Ashcraft interferes, and LJ eliminates Lorenze to win.
After the match, Gilbert Corsey interviews LJ. He says he has been waiting for an opportunity like this and wants to show why he is one of the best today. Adam Revolver comes out and says he won a battle royal, but that doesn't mean he deserves a shot at his OVW Heavyweight Title. LJ says he is taking the title home tonight.

Gilbert Corsey interviews Tyler Matrix. He was viciously assaulted and has a broken orbital bone and sinus cavity, and basically has a hole in his skull. He will not be able to compete now at War Games, because he will not be medically cleared. He is interrupted by the Legacy of Brutality. Josh Ashcraft says they are the newest entrants into War Games on Team Hayes, and tells his guys to finsih off Matrix for good. Big Jon & Justin Smooth are out. Jon says he got Smooth to replace Matrix in War Games. Smooth says he feels good and is ready to get it poppin' now. He challenges the L.O.B. to a tag match. Dean Hill comes out and says there will be a tag match right now with the belts on the line!

OVW SOUTHERN TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: "The Legacy of Brutality": Ca$h Flo & Dapper Dan (w/Josh Ashcraft) (c) vs. "Big Smooth": Big Jon & "The Trinidadian Titan" Justin Smooth ends in a double countout. Ca$h & Dan dominate early by double-teaming and cheating by not tagging against Smooth. Smooth gets a hot tag to Jon who clotheslines, splashes, and big boots both L.O.B. members. He goes off the ropes and is hit in the back with a baton by Josh. Jessie Belle comes out and hits Josh from behind with a chair. The L.O.B. goes outside as Jessie leaves, and Big Smooth takes the fight to them outside, but the L.O.B. leaves and Big Smooth gets counted out as well.

Rev. Stu comes out and has a good word. The good word is "Void". He calls out the Void and Chace Destiny & Damion come to the ring. He tells them they have a void without a leader, because Jade Dawson hasn't been seen since the last SNS and will be gone for a very long time. So now is a time for redemption. They can start over new. While Stu is telling them this, Jade rolls out from under the ring and has a chair.

He blasts Stu from behind and also has a bodybag! He tells the Void to put him in it, and then they carry Stu off to the back!

Gilbert Corsey, Ted McNaler, & Ron Hed talk about things that have happened so far tonight and also mention War Games and the 15 foot high steel cage that will be built. Mickie Knuckles comes out and interrupts. She asks Gilbert if she heard him say cage. She wants to play. Gilbert says he guesses she could be in it if she's picked by Big Jon or Michael Hayes. She then turns her attention to a trainee (Sam Thompson) at ringside. She tosses him in the ring and gives him a release German Suplex. Another trainee is out to check on him, and he also gets a release German.

Cali runs out and hits Mickie from behind and knocks her out of the ring. She says if Mickie wants a cage, how about she faces her at War Games and puts the Women's Title on the line. Mickie says to keep dreaming.

OVW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE: Adam Revolver (c) (w/World Radio Heavyweight Champion Shannon the Dude) defeats LJ. LJ with a quick, hot start. Revolver has to roll out and keeps trying to lock in the sleeper, but LJ stays on top. He hits a running knee for 2, and a gut check for 2. He goes up top and connects with the frog splash, but STD puts Adam's foot on the rope. LJ grabs STD, but Adam comes up from behind and even though LJ tries to roll out of it, Adam has the sleeper locked and after 3 arm raises and drops, Adam wins by submission.

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

"The Bro Godz": Colton Cage & Dustin Jackson defeat Christian Hernandez & "The Veteran" Apollo. The Bros start out hot, but Hernandez & Apollo take advantage and work over Dustin. Dustin gets a hot tag to Colton. Colton takes them down and Apollo gets knocked out of the ring. Colton tags Dustin back in and they hit a combination knee lift, scissor kick, and top rope splash known as Bropocalypse Now to get the 3.

Kevin Giza defeats David Lee Lorenze III. David accidentally sprays himself in the face with his assistant's hairspray and Giza hits a kick to the head. He goes up and hits the 450 splash for the 3.

Billy O & "The Real Deal" Randall Floyd defeat "The Void": Chace Destiny & Damion. Billy with a hot start, but the Void takes control. After a hot tag, Floyd comes in and runs through both Void members and hits the Deal Breaker slam for the 3.
