OVW TV #936: "A POPE-ular New Captain"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, July 26, 2017. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 9PM, and online at www.ovwrestling.com/ovw-media.html. In this episode, the return of Tony Gunn, Big Zo defends the OVW TV Title, things get even more heated between the Bad Boys Club and the Legacy of Brutality, plus more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

"Livewire" KTD & Kevin Giza defeat OVW Southern Tag Team Champions "The Legacy of Brutality": Ca$h Flo & Dapper Dan by DQ. Giza says this is a "no chop zone" and tries to use his quickness to stay on top of Ca$h and avoid being chopped. He gets in some chops of his own on Ca$h, which only angers him, and Giza is caught off the ropes with a hard chop. Dan & KTD tag in and KTD is powered down. Ca$h gives him 2 big chops. Ca$h & Dan double-team KTD and don't listen to the 5-count, so the ref calls for the bell. Ca$h & Dan proceed to deliver the Final Chapter to KTD anyway.

David Lee Lorenze III (w/Jaylee) defeats "The Real Deal" Randall Floyd. Floyd with a takedown early and has control until Jaylee causes a distraction. David hits him, hits a double knee, and a kick to the head. Floyd reverses a suplex, but David comes back and goes for the Director's Cut. Floyd reverses into a powerslam and hits the Deal Breaker. Jaylee is on the apron and sprays hairspray in Floyd's eyes. David recovers and hits the Director's Cut for the 3.

"The River City Dragon" LJ defeats The Fearless Musa. A back and forth opening. Musa hits a samoan drop, but misses a backflip. LJ hits the Gutcheck, and follows it up with the frog splash for the 3.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 11AM and 9PM (check local listings) and on OVW's official website Mondays at www.ovwrestling.com/ovw-media.html.

Gilbert Corsey, Ron Hed, & Dr. Ted McNaler on commentary, and Ron is the ring announcer.

"The Bad Boys Club": "Bad Boy" Shane Andrews & "Double R Superstar" Randy Royal (w/"Bad Girl" Jessie Belle) defeat "The Bro Godz": Dustin Jackson & Colton Cage. Cage & Shane with some early exchanges, but after Dustin is tagged in, the Bad Boys take and keep control. Shane hits a double foot stomp on Dustin laid across the middle rope of the corner, and then Royal hits the samoan drop followed by a frog splash from Shane for the 3.
After the match, the Legacy of Brutality attacks them from behind. Jessie slaps Ca$h Flo in the face once, but Ca$h grabs her on a second attempt and shoves her down to the mat.

Gilbert Corsey brings out Tony Gunn. Gilbert mentions Gunn taking a bullet for Big Jon the last time we saw him. Gunn says it feels great to be back in OVW. He is not here to point blame or call anyone out. He's here for 2 things. 1-he has been medically cleared to return to the ring. 2-he calls out Big Jon. He tells Jon he wants to go to war at War Games. Jon says he had other prospects in mind, but accepts Gunn being on his team. As Jon turns to leave, Gunn pulls out a lead pipe and clocks Jon from behind. Gunn says he will be a part of War Games, just not on Jon's team. Michael Hayes, the Legacy of Brutality, & Adam Revolver accompanied by Shannon the Dude come out and join Gunn at ringside as Jon has to be carted out on a stretcher.

As Gilbert Corsey, Ted McNaler, & Ron Hed are going over what just happened with Tony Gunn & Big Jon, Dean Hill comes out and cuts in. He says Jon is being taken to the hospital. He then talks about Michael Hayes. He asks how someone could be so loved and turn their back on OVW and the fans who believed in him. He was an American hero, but is now an American ZERO. He then turns his attention to Tony Gunn. He asks how he could align with someone who tried to burn the American flag. He says Gunn claimed to be 100%, so he is going to test that tonight. He is changing the original main event. Big Jon's best friend Justin Smooth will face Gunn 1-on-1 in the main event!

Billy O defeats "The Prince of Darkness" Jade Dawson (w/"The Void": Chace Destiny, Jacob Black, & Damion) by DQ. Billy with a quick start, but Jade takes control due to outside interference. He hits a kick to Billy's head, but misses a top rope moonsault. Billy hits Oceans Eleven on Jade, but the Void runs in and breaks up the pin.
The Void continues to quadruple team Billy after the match and tries to put him in a bodybag like they did with Rev. Stu last week.
Stu then runs out from the back and helps Billy clean house. Stu grabs a mic and says he'll prove to them what real men look like. At the August 5 SNS, it will be 2 on 4. Stu & Billy vs. Jade & the Void.

As Gilbert Corsey, Ted McNaler, & Ron Hed are going over things, they say that Big Jon's injury is severe and they have learned that he will not be medically cleared for War Games. This means right now it's 5-on-1, as Justin Smooth is the only one remaining against Team Hayes. They are interrupted by the Bad Boys Club. Randy Royal asks "is this thing on?" as Shane Andrews takes the mic away. He tells the Legacy of Brutality that this means war! It's personal now that they put their hands on his wife! They will wreck their lives at War Games. Jessie Belle takes the mic and says to read her lips...payback is a b**** and so is she!

OVW TELEVISION TITLE: Big Zo (c) defeats Christian Hernandez. A series of power moves, but Zo takes control. He hits the "Are You Serious" legdrop, the Zo train, and a big slam. David Lee Lorenze III & Jaylee come out to ringside momentarily distracting Zo. Hernandez picks Zo up on his shoulders, but Zo slides off and hits another slam. He then connects with the Zo bomb for the 3.

"Shotgun" Tony Gunn defeats "The Trinidadian Titan" Justin Smooth. Smooth has control, but each of Team Hayes' War Games members come out and continually interfere. Smooth still manages to hit Street Justice, but gets distracted by Michael Hayes. Gunn low blows Smooth and hits a reverse DDT for the 3.
After the match, Team Hayes gets in and delivers a 5-on-1 beatdown to Smooth.
The Bad Boys Club runs out to help out, but Team Hayes still has the numbers game.
All of a sudden, "The Pope" Elijah Burke emerges from the curtain and starts clearing the ring of Team Hayes. He says he got a call from Dean Hill on what has been going on and now after what happened to Big Jon, will lead a team against Michael Hayes and company in War Games!

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

"Bad Girl" Jessie Belle defeats Jaylee (w/David Lee Lorenze III). Despite interference from David and Jaylee blowing makeup powder in Jessie's face, the veteran Jessie picks up the 3 and the win after connecting with the Belle Buster.

"The Pastor of Disaster" Rev. Stuart Miles & Billy O defeat "The Vet Express": Apollo & Dre Blitz. Billy has the early advantage until he celebrates and gets clocked from behind by Blitz. Adam Slade made a special appearance, running a lap around the ring during the match. The Vets work him over until a hot tag to Stu. Stu comes in firing away, and with Billy, they do a double healing in opposite corners. Apollo is knocked out of the ring, and Stu & Billy deliver a double clawslam to Blitz for the 3.

As always, thanks for reading!
