OVW TV #990: Dean's "Grand" Idea

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, August 8, 2018. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 9PM, and online at www.ovwrestling.com/ovw-media.html. In this episode, Billy O defends the OVW TV Title against former champion Sam Thompson, Dean Hill makes a major announcement about the future of the OVW Heavyweight Title, femme fatale action, plus more!

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

BGB & Ashton Cove defeat William Lutz & "The Vet" Apollo. Cove dropkicks Apollo into the corner and Lutz tags in. Lutz gets a hip toss and Cove locks the arm. BGB tags in and hits it, then tags Cove back in. Lutz elbows out and throws Cove into the corner. Apollo tags in and hits Cove in the gut. He headbutts him and slams him. Lutz tags in and says he can do it better. Cove slides out of a slam and tags BGB. BGB with a backdrop. Apollo runs in, but BGB throws him into Lutz before tossing him out of the ring. BGB splashes Lutz in the corner and tags Cove, then hits a bulldog. Cove hits a lionsault for the 3.

OVW Women's Champion Jaylee defeats Nutty Nancy. They lock up into the corner. Jaylee with a wristlock. She goes to kick Nancy, but Nancy moves. She calls her a freak, and Nancy takes her down and pounds her. Jaylee back with forearms. Nancy rams her into the corner and hangs her in the tree of woe. She lifts her by her hair and pulls her down hard. She stomps her and snapmares her out of the corner for 2. Off the ropes, Jaylee reverses a throw and pulls her down by her arm. She locks in the armbreaker for the tapout.

SOCIAL MEDIA EXCLUSIVE: "The Empire State Goliath" Cardinal defeats Dimes. Cardinal shoves Dimes in the corner, then flings him across the ring. He throws him hard into the opposite corner and chops the chest hard. Dimes moves from acharge and tries to chop back. He goes off the ropes, but runs into another hard chop from Cardinal. Cardinal hits a spinning cutter and chokes Dimes on the mat. He pulls him up at 2 and locks in a sleeper. Dimes works his way up. Cardinal tries to drop a leg, but Dimes moves and hits a dropkick. He charges again, but Cardinal catches him and flings him down. He forearms him hard in the corner and knocks Dimes out cold.

"Livewire" KTD defeats Keegan Brettle. KTD locks up the arm. KB back with some power moves. KTD slides off KB's shoulders and fires back, hitting a knockout shot for the win.

Dean Hill comes out with the vacated Heavyweight Title. He says this is one of the biggest prizes in all of wrestling, because of some of the top superstars who have held it. There will be a tournament held with superstars past, present, and future from all over the world fighting for it, with the winner to be crowned at OVW TV #1000!

It's announced that Tommy Dreamer will be here for OVW TV on August 22, then again the next night at the Kentucky State Fair!

Meg defeats Jasmin (w/Keegan Brettle). Meg with the early control. She takes Jasmin to the mat and works her over, but KB causes a distraction. KB pulls Meg's hair while Jasmin distracts the ref, then Jasmin charges and hits her in the back. She runs into the corner, but Meg blocks and hits a release German suplex. She then connects with a spear for the 3.

After the match, Meg calls out Cali. She thought they were friends, but don't mistake her kindness for weakness at the last SNS. Next time they're in the ring together, there will be no mercy!

DARK SEGMENT: Amon comes out and says Dean Hill stole the title, and Justin Smooth stole his glory, but HE will be glorious and it will be tonight!

OVW TELEVISION TITLE MATCH: OVW Anarchy Champion "The Leading Man & Star of the Show" Billy O (c) defeats "The Boy Wonder" Sam Thompson. Sam goes after Billy with a quick rollup, then locks in a side headlock and takes Billy down. Billy throws Sam into the corner, but runs into a boot. Sam charges at Billy, but gets caught with a backbreaker for 2. Billy with a big slam, then another for 2. He throws him out of the ring. Sam comes back, hits Billy, and flies in, but is caught and rammed into the corner. Billy tries to pin for 2. He goes for Oceans Eleven, but Sam slides out and ducks a big boot, then hits a kick to the head. Billy rolls out, but Sam follows him and kicks him in the head from the apron. Billy hits Sam's head off the apron. Back inside, he tells Sam he did this to himself. He goes off the ropes and hits a big boot for 2. He hits the running high knee and gets the 3.

DARK SEGMENT: "Wrestling's Rockstar" Ryan Howe comes out and says we are well on our way to episode #1000! There will be surprises, there will be twists, and there will be a new Heavyweight Champion crowned. This means tonight starts it. There is a 6-man elimination tag and he will win and secure his spot in the tournament!

Jax Dane defeats "The Entourage 2.0": DL3 & Shiloh Jonze. A funny spot at the beginning where Shiloh & DL3 argue over who will face him. Jax splashes them both in the corner. He runs over DL3 on the outside. Shiloh dropkicks him through the ropes. Shiloh jumps on him, but is caught. Shiloh claps the ears and runs him into the ringpost. He dives off the top rope with a cross body, but Jax gets off the mat with him. He throws him up on his shoulders while also pulling DL3 back into the ring and getting him on the shoulders also. He hits the double Samoan drop and gets the 3.

DARK SEGMENT: Cali comes out and says that she is the smart one. She is smarter than everyone thought and she proved it at the Special. She tells Meg she doesn't need friends, she just needs her title back!

6-MAN ELIMINATION TAG: "The Trinidad Titan" Justin Smooth, "The Real Deal" Randall Floyd, & Dustin Jackson defeat "Wrestling's Rockstar" Ryan Howe, Colton Cage, & Big Zo. A lot of mayhem and tags early on. The Bros end up in the ring against each other. Cage with several bro-theslines to Dustin and a sideburn effect. He misses the scissor kick, then Dustin hits him with bro-theslines and the top rope splash for the 3 to eliminate him. Howe perches on the top and hits Dustin with the Chart Topper after he gets up for the 3 to eliminate Dustin. Smooth & Howe end up in the ring and fire away on one another. Floyd tags in and works over Howe. Smooth tags back in and tries to pin for 2. Howe fires back and hits a running forearm in the corner. He clubs Smooth across the back, but Smooth reverses and pounds him in the corner. He throws Smooth hard into the opposite corner and tries to pin for 2. Howe locks in the Whammy Bar, but Smooth gets to his feet and hits a spinebuster for 2. Howe turns into a bicycle kick, but the Void & Amon run out. The Void distracts the ref while Amon pulls Smooth out and knocks him out on the floor. Smooth gets counted out and eliminated. Floyd runs in and tries a cutter, but Howe shoves him off and locks in the Whammy Bar. Floyd gets out and tries the modified Boston crab. He doesn't get it locked, but hits the cutter out of nowhere for the 3. Zo splashes Floyd and goes for a slam, but Floyd rolls him in an inside cradle for 2. Zo charges him, but Floyd rolls him into the crab. Zo is able to kick him off. Floyd still stays in control, hitting Zo in the back and delivering a backdrop. Floyd goes up top, but Zo slams him down. He goes up, then comes down with the Zo bomb for the 3!

After the match, Amon runs out and attacks Zo. He plants him with an STH, as Smooth runs back out. Smooth hits him, then sets up for the bicycle kick, but Amon takes off.

This ended the TV taping.

DARK MATCH: Amon (w/"The Void": Nigel Winters & Houdini) defeats Eddie Knight. Eddie fires away, but Amon chokes him by the throat. Houdini chokes Eddie while Amon distracts the ref. He throws him hard into the corner, then outside. Nigel stomps him, then Amon goes out and chops him. Amon hits him around ringside and plows him into the side of the ring. Amon rolls him in for 2. Amon clotheslines and chokes him again and rakes his face across the top rope. Eddie comes back with a shot to the knee. He tries a sunset flip, but Amon picks him up by the throat and slams him down. He tries to pin for 2. Amon with a reverse headlock. Eddie fights up and fires up. He hits a bulldog and goes up top, but the Void tries to jump on the apron. Eddie kicks them off and hits a flying elbow drop for 2. Amon pops up and Eddie spits in his face. Amon hits the STH for the 3.
