OVW TV #991: Howe Hits a Record Low

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, August 15, 2018. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 9PM, and online at www.ovwrestling.com/ovw-media.html. In this episode, Billy O defends the OVW TV Title against Sam Thompson again, Justin Smooth wants to face Amon & the Void by himself, Crimson faces Big Zo in the first round of the Grand Tournament, plus more!

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

"The Entourage 2.0": DL3 & Shiloh Jonze defeat BGB & Ashton Cove. DL3 & Shiloh attack their opponents, and Cove is ent out of the ring. Shiloh with a roundhouse kick to BGB, then a hard chop. BGB chops back, but DL3 causes a distraction and they double team BGB with the ref distracted. BGB moves from a charge from DL3 in the corner, then splashes him. DL3 takes him back down for 2. Shiloh tags in and misses a flying fist drop. He then misses the funky knee drop and tags DL3. BGB hits him with a back drop and tags Cove. Cove fires away on Shiloh who was also tagged in. He knocks DL3 off the apron and DDT's Shiloh. He goes for the lionsault, but DL3 pulls Shiloh out of harm's way. DL3 has Cove in a Russian leg sweep, and Shiloh superkicks Cove into it for the 3.

"The Empire State Goliath" Cardinal vs. Dapper Dan. Both men lock up into and around the ropes. Dan throws a forearm that knocks Cardinal from the ring. Cardinal catches him with some forearm shots on the outside and rolls him back in. Dan reverses a throw and splashes Cardinal in the corner. Cardinal takes Dan down hard to the mat and gets a 2. Cardinal tries to lock in a submission as the ref calls for the bell. He rules it a no-contest. Dan gets up and goes after Cardinal on the outside and they fight to the back.

SOCIAL MEDIA EXCLUSIVE: OVW Women's Champion Jaylee defeats Jessie Belle. They lock up and Jessie controls early. She hits the Kiss My Grits in the corner, but Jaylee comes back. She takes Jessie down for a pin,. but Jessie rolls her over for a 2 count herself. Jaylee with a submission, but Jessie works her way out and fires back. She hits the "Oh Snap" suplex, then another, then a third for 2. Jaylee pokes her in the eyes and locks in the armbreaker, forcing Jessie to tap.

Cali Young defeats Hayley Shadows. Hayley refuses a handshake, then turns her back and Cali hits her from behind. Hayley comes back and charges Cali in the corner. Cali moves, and Hayley runs shoulder first into the ring post. Cali locks in the reverse armbreaker for the tapout.

After the match, Cali tells Meg she is smarter than her, as well as all the fans, and viewers at home watching. She is the smartest at OVW.

DARK SEGMENT: Amon comes out with the Void and says Justin Smooth has bitten off more than he can chew. Tonight, he wants to face all of them? He thinks he is so high, but tonight, they will drag him all the way down to hell!

Sam Thompson comes out and says he's man enough to admit that Billy O was the better man last week, but he calls him out and wants another shot at the TV Title tonight!

OVW TELEVISION TITLE MATCH: OVW Anarchy Champion "The Leading Man & Star of the Show" Billy O (c) defeats "The Boy Wonder" Sam Thompson. Billy with an early takedown. He goes for a suplex, but Sam rolls him up for 2. Sam drops him and locks in a side headlock. Billy stands up and hits a back drop. Billy hits him in the corner. Sam fires back, but Billy drops him and clubs him across the back. Billy with a snapmare and stomps Sam. Off the ropes, Billy with a back body drop, but Sam rolls him up for 2. Billy catches him with a boot for 2. He chokes Sam and Sam comes back with another roll-up for 2. Billy puts the boots to him and goes for Oceans Eleven. Sam slides off and goes for a kick, but Billy catches the foot, drops him, and then elbows him across the back. He misses a big boot and Sam connects with a kick to the face. Sam jumps for a DDT, but Billy throws him off and hits the running knee to the face for the 3.

DARK SEGMENT: Meg comes out to be interviewed by Bruce Schneider and says Cali turned her back on her and all her fans, but she will teach Cali a lesson. Later tonight, she faces Valerie Vermin and simply tells her to watch out.

"The Bro Godz": Dustin Jackson & Colton Cage defeat "The Vet" Apollo & William Lutz. Colton and Dustin argue over who's gonna start, teasing tension from last week. The match is relatively quick as the Bros ARE on the same page. They hit the Snapshot on Lutz for the 3 and chest bump saying they are bros for life!

DARK SEGMENT: Justin Smooth comes out for an interview with Bruce Schneider and says that he wants all of the Void, but Dean Hill says he needs a partner. The only person who wants to team with him is Ryan Howe, and he doesn't trust him after screwing up all of his championship opportunities. He doesn't care if it's 1-on-4, he's from Trinidad and doesn't care about odds!

Tony Gunn comes out for an interview with Bruce Schneider and says Tommy Dreamer will be here next week and holding a wrestling seminar. He says he doesn't know why, because he's hardcore and hardcore is trash. He is the best wrestler here and should be in charge of it.

Randall Floyd interrupts and says while Gunn has been busy wrestling in mini-skirts, he has been the one proving he is the best wrestler here. This leads to a ref running out and making a match official!

"The Real Deal" Randall Floyd defeats "Shotgun" Tony Gunn. Some quick mat wrestling, takedowns, and pin attempts. Gunn with a suplex for 2. He locks Floyd up. Floyd elbows out. Gunn goes to kick him, but Floyd catches the foot and drops Gunn. He delivers a slam, then a backdrop into a slam for 2. Gunn elbows Floyd in the back and goes for the reverse DDT. Floyd breaks free and drops Gunn for the modified Boston crab. Gunn kicks him in the face, then drops him for the sharpshooter. Floyd instead rolls him up in an inside cradle for the 3! Gunn complains that his shoulder wasn't all the way down, but it doesn't matter. Floyd wins.

DARK SEGMENT: DL3 & Shiloh Jonze comes out for an interview with Bruce Schneider and DL3 says they are ready to tackle something new. Next week, Shiloh will be doing some rapping.

GRAND TOURNAMENT FIRST ROUND: Crimson defeats Big Zo. Crimson with a quick running kick to the face for 2. He tries another, but misses. Zo splashes him for 2. He goes for the cartwheel butt bump, but Crimson moves. They fight on the outside, and Crimson rams Zo into the steel steps. Then a second time. Crimson rolls in to break the count. Zo fires back and clubs Crimson in the back. He hits his head off the apron and fires away. He rolls Crimson in, but charges into a boot. Crimson goes after him, but Zo lifts him up on his shoulders. Crimson slides off and hits a twisting neckbreaker. Crimson pounds him on the mat and kicks him. Off the ropes, Crimson takes Zo down. He drops an elbow. Zo picks him up for a Samoan drop, but Crimson kicks out of a pin. Zo hits him into the ropes, then down to the mat. He splashes him in the corner, then throws him to the opposite corner. He hits the cartwheel butt bump and back elbows. He goes up for the Zo bomb, but Crimson gets the knees up. He then connects with the running kick for the 3.

Amon & "The Void": Chace Destiny, Nigel Winters, & Houdini defeat "The Trinidad Titan" Justin Smooth & "Wrestling's Rockstar" Ryan Howe. Smooth starts the match solo, and does a pretty good job of facing all 4 opponents. Amon takes the knee out from behind, and that gives the Void the advantage. Amon works over the knee and locks in a single leg Boston crab.

Howe runs out and gets the tag, but then drops Smooth with a reverse DDT. He tags himself out and Amon hits the STH on Smooth for the 3.

This ended the TV taping.

DARK MATCH: Meg defeats Valerie Vermin. Meg fires away and gets Val on her shoulders. Val elbows out, but Meg takes her back down and then delivers a spear for the 3.

DARK MATCH TV TITLE SHOT BATTLE ROYAL: Order of elimination: SK Eveslage, Mexicutioner, Apollo, Chace Destiny, Nigel Winters, Ashton Cove, Houdini, KTD, William Lutz, Eddie Knight, Dimes, Dre Blitz. The final 4 are DL3, Shiloh Jonze, Big Zo, & Sam Thompson. Zo hits Shiloh & DL3's heads into each other. He charges at them, but they pull down the top rope and Zo flies out. Sam throws DL3 out, but he stays on the apron and holds Sam. Shiloh goes to hit him, but Sam breaks free and Shiloh hits DL3 off the apron. Sam then tosses Shiloh to win.
