OVW TV 1029: Smooth Makes Things Rough on Dimes

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, May 1, 2019. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 9PM, and on the OVW Network. In this episode, Shiloh Jonze faces Nigel Winters and announces a match with Sinn Bodhi next week, Dean Hill makes a big announcement for SNS 100, the Television Title gauntlet, plus more!

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

Big Zo defeats Alex Zane. Alex fires away on Zo into the corner. Off the ropes, Zo catches him. Alex slides around, but Zo scares him back with some tae kwan Zo moves. He drives him into the corner and splashes him. He hits the cartwheel butt bump and back elbows. Alex ducks the roundhouse kick and stomps him. Alex focuses on the leg. Zo back with a big slam. He works him over in the corner, then throws him to the opposite. He misses a Zo train and Alex takes him down and locks the leg up in a submission. Zo catches him with a big slam. Alex rolls out to the apron and shoulders in. Off the ropes, Zo catches him with the running cross body for the 3.

Megan Bayne & Valerie Vermin defeat "The 97 Year Old Wrestling Extraordinaire" Thunderkitty & OVW Women's Champion Cali Young. Cali with a side headlock takedown. Val tries to roll her over for 2. Cali shoulders Val down as Kitty blind tags in. Val tags out to Meg. Meg throws Kitty down. Kitty locks in a side headlock and Cali tags in. Meg grabs Cali and delivers a huge back body drop. Cali comes back with a wheelbarrow into a bulldog. Both women tag out and Kitty fires away on Val. She hits a raised knee and locks in the Boston crab, but Cali gets in and argues with Kitty. Val shoves them into each other and rolls Kitty up for the 3.

Dimes defeats Big D (w/DL3 & Shiloh Jonze). Dimes fires away and controls early. He gets caught with a big slam and a clothesline. D scoops him up, but Dimes slides off and takes his wig. He plays matador with D's wig, then hits him with the Change Maker as D puts it back on to get the 3.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Gilbert Corsey, Josh Ashcraft, & Dr. Ted McNaler are on commentary, and Brittany Devore & Mercy are the ring announcers.

Dustin Jackson comes out and wants Colton Cage in a match now. Officials try to get him out, but Dean Hill comes out and asks what Dustin wants.
Dustin wants one more match with Colton with no rules. Dean will make a last man standing match under the stipulation that they can't touch each other again after tonight's final bell.
LAST MAN STANDING MATCH:
Dustin Jackson (w/Lily) defeats Colton Cage. Dustin goes right after Colton, but Colton uses Lily to gain the upperhand by throwing her into Dustin. He hits him on the outside and suplexes him on the floor. He throws him into the steel steps and grabs a chair. He DDT's him on the chair. Dustin back with a dropkick. They exchange trying to put each other through the table, but Dustin catches Colton trying to use pepper spray. He sprays Colton and hits him onto the table.
He delivers a top rope splash, but the table doesn't break. He isn't satisfied, so he tries to powerbomb him through the table. The table doesn't break, but Colton is still down for the 10 count!

Brandon Espinosa defeats Ca$h Flo. Espy dropkicks Ca$h into the corner and continues delivering them. He takes Ca$h down with a disaster kick, then hits a back elbow. He rolls Ca$h down to the mat and super kicks him. He pins, but Ca$h kicks out quickly. He goes up top, but Ca$h catches him and slams him for 2. Ca$h chokes him in the ropes. He chops him and tries to pin for 2. He hits Espy out of the ring. Sam Thompson shows up, delivering popcorn to the crowd. It distracts Ca$h long enough for Espy to recover and dive out on him. Ca$h rolls in and Espy goes up top. He hits a flying body press for the 3!

OVW Anarchy Champion Shiloh Jonze (w/DL3 & Big D) defeats Nigel Winters. Shiloh attacks Nigel as DL3 distracts him on the mic. Shiloh takes the mic to talk about his match with Sinn Bodhi next week and Nigel rolls him up for 2. Shiloh goes back on the attack and works Nigel over. Nigel picks up steam again, but gets tripped by DL3. Shiloh hits the jiggy kneedrop. Nigel fires back again, taking Big D and DL3 out of the ring, but Shiloh hits him from behind. He takes Nigel out with a sucka punch off the top rope for the 3. After the match, they continue beating up on Nigel until Big Zo runs out to chase them off.

Dean Hill is out for a special announcement. The next SNS is the 100th. To say thank you, they are having a special match for the OVW Heavyweight Title. It will be a super gauntlet where every competitor will have been a Heavyweight Champion at one point of their career. Dimes comes out and says no way. He deserves a 1-on-1 match with Justin Smooth. He says it's not fair that he has to compete in a gauntlet every match. Dean says he can give him one thing, the last entrant in the gauntlet. Justin Smooth comes out and says Dimes doesn't belong in the same ring as him, and Dean is going to get him hurt. Dimes says he can beat Smooth. Smooth goads him into taking a swing at him, but moves and Dimes hits the camera man on the apron. Smooth says Dean has to suspend him. Dean says it was an accident, but it is true. You can't touch an employee, so he has to suspend Dimes for 2 weeks, meaning Dimes will miss the SNS!

TELEVISION TITLE GAUNTLET MATCH:
William Lutz (w/Ashton Cove) defeats Kyle Roberts. Kyle fires away with kicks, but gets tripped off the ropes by Cove on the outside. Kyle with a single leg kick and dropkick into the corner. A toe kick to the head, then Lutz flips him onto the apron. Kyle with a kick to the jaw and the fall from grace. He misses a charge and Lutz rolls him up with Cove holding his feet on the ropes for the 3.
Tony Bizo defeats William Lutz (w/Ashton Cove). Bizo throws Cove out of the way and takes Lutz down hard. He hits a huge spinebuster and the long-standing suplex for the 3.
Tony Bizo defeats Amon. They exchange blows and Amon with a throat thrust. Off the ropes, Bizo shoulder blocks him down and clotheslines him. Bizo scoops him up, but Amon gouges his eyes. He takes off the top turnbuckle while the ref checks on Bizo's eyes. Amon tries to throw Bizo, but Bizo reverses to a different corner and splashes him. He goes for another in the exposed corner, but Amon moves. Amon clubs him in the chest. Amon kicks him and claws his chest. Amon clubs his chest again. Bizo starts to pick up steam and hits a big slam. Amon comes back and tries for the STH, but Bizo gets him rolled up for the 3.
Tony Bizo defeats Adam Revolver (w/Shannon the Dude). STD gets on the apron before Adam comes out and distracts Bizo. Adam jumps on his back and locks in the sleeper. Bizo fights back and goes for the punches in the corner, but Adam drops him across the top turnbuckle. He locks the sleeper back in, but Bizo backs him into the corner and shoulders him. Adam comes back with the sleeper again, but Bizo hits a chinbuster. STD gets in the ring. Bizo goes after him, and again Adam locks in the sleeper. Bizo blocks it and hits the long-standing suplex for the 3!
Drew Hernandez (c) defeats Tony Bizo. Drew attacks Bizo, but Bizo comes firing back with clotheslines and a spinebuster. With the ref distracted, he kicks Bizo below the belt and delivers a powerbomb for the 3.

This ended the TV taping.

DARK MATCH: "Mr. Marvelous" Melvin Maximus (w/Mrs. Marvelous) defeats "Montana Made" Phil Early. Early attacks Melvin and hits him in the ropes. He tries to throw him out of the corner. Melvin reverses and clotheslines Early out of the corner. He takes him down with a powerslam for the 3.

DARK MATCH: Jay Bradley & OVW Heavyweight Champion Justin Smooth vs. "Kings Ransom": Maximus & Leonis Khan ends in a no-contest. Jay locks Leonis up and tags Smooth. Smooth locks up the arm. He shoulder blocks him down and goes off the ropes. Leonis kips up and hip tosses him. He tags Maximus and they deliver a double shoulder tackle. Off the ropes, Maximus gets kicked in the back by Smooth. Jay rolls him up for 1. He gets worked over a bit before tagging Leonis. They hit a double back elbow on Smooth. Leonis then knocks Jay off the apron. Smooth & Jay regain control on Leonis, and Jay hits a big slam. Smooth tags in. Off the ropes, Leonis hits a sunset flip for 2. Smooth with a big clothesline. Jay tags in and chops him hard. He locks in the abdominal stretch. He goes for an elbow off the second rope, but Leonis moves. Both tag out. Maximus clotheslines Smooth and hits the jumping spinning clothesline. Jay comes in, but gets a suplex. Leonis clotheslines Jay out of the ring. Smooth hits Maximus, but gets a double spear from the Kings. Smooth kicks out. All 4 men are in the ring. They hit Jay with a DDT/flying body press combo. Maximus ducks the bicycle kick. He goes for a chokeslam, but Smooth fights out. The Kings hit Smooth with Kings Landing. Jay drags Maximus off the pin. Smooth low blows Leonis in the ring as Jay fights with Maximus on the outside. Dimes comes out in street clothes attacking Smooth. The ref calls for the bell.

  1. Who are they going to put in a gauntlet match? Tony Gunn is on the injured list and Randy Royal is gone, leaving only Jay Bradley, Adam Revolver and Melvin Maximus?
