This
is the OVW Top 20 for the week of July 31-August 6, 2012 exclusively on
OVWmania. After a huge week of action including the SNS featuring Johnny Spade & Jamin Olivencia's 2nd encounter, as well as the finals of the Nightmare Cup, where does the OVW roster stand this week?
CURRENT TITLES: OVW Heavyweight Champion
LAST WEEK: Lost to Jamin Olivencia on Wednesday. According to referee Chris Sharpe, defeated Jamin Olivencia at SNS to retain the OVW Heavyweight Title.
*Spade appeared to have made the pin on Jamin, but the second referee to enter the match, Jordan Barker, saw Spade's shoulders down and counted the pin for Jamin. Nevertheless, Spade walked out of Davis Arena with the strap in hand.
LAST WEEK: Defeated Johnny Spade on Wednesday. According to referee Jordan Barker, defeated Johnny Spade at SNS.
*Although Spade delivered a german suplex to Jamin, Jamin was on top of Spade as referee Jordan Barker counted the win for him. However, the original appointed referee, Chris Sharpe, counted Jamin's shoulders to the mat, and Spade walked away with the title. Will Jamin get another opportunity to go for the gold?
LAST WEEK: Defeated the Best Team Ever on Wednesday; defeated the Mobile Homers at SNS to win the Nightmare Cup.
*It's not often #1 contenders pass up the champions, but this week Moose
& Michael picked up 2 huge wins. Not only did they win the Nightmare Cup to become #1 contenders for the OVW Southern Tag Team Titles, but they defeated the title holders last Wednesday to make the tournament finals. Could we be looking at the next "CHAMPIONS!" as Rudy Switchblade would say?
CURRENT TITLES: OVW Southern Tag Team Champions
LAST WEEK: Lost to the team of Moose & Michael Hayes on Wednesday in the semifinals of the Nightmare Cup.
*The
Best Team Ever watched the team of Moose & Michael win the Nightmare Cup to become #1 contenders for their gold. Will they be worried seeing as they were defeated by them last week? Is that why they tried to interfere in the final and attempt to help the Mobile Homers win?
LAST WEEK: Defeated Raphael Constantine on Wednesday.
*Big Rob made "short" work of Constantine before apparently taking out the OVW TV Champion, Tony Gunn. He truly believes he rightfully deserves the TV Title and will get his chance this week when he meets Gunn & #1 contender Ryan Howe in a triple threat match.
CURRENT TITLES: OVW Television Champion
LAST WEEK: Was attacked on Wednesday by Rob Terry before he could defend the TV Title.
LAST WEEK: Was attacked on Wednesday by Rob Terry before he could defend the TV Title.
*Tony was taken out by Big Rob, but luckily didn't have to forfeit the title. This week, he has the tough task of defeating the giant as well as the #1 contender, Ryan Howe, who has been rockin' his way through the competition.
LAST WEEK: Defeated Cliff Compton in a 2-out-of-3 falls match at SNS.
*The Psychadelic Superstar was able to come back and defeat Cliff after being rammed into the steel ringpost and being down 1 fall to none. He was slammed through 2 chairs after the match, though. Will Silvio get a chance for revenge?
LAST
MATCH: Lost the OVW Television Title to Tony Gunn.
*8 rings a bell, doesn't it? Ali
was still absent this last week after being forced to forfeit the TV
Title. Were his injuries suffered from the attack by Big Rob that bad,
or is the now former 8-time TV Champion planning revenge on the big man?
CURRENT TITLES: OVW Women's Champion
LAST WEEK: With Dylan Bostic, defeated the team of Jessie Belle & Alex Silva on Wednesday. At SNS, defeated Jessie Belle to retain the Women's Championship.
*Taeler picked up 2 wins this past week and picked up a few spots on the Top 20. Once again, she was aided by Bostic. Can the "Knockout" win in a fair fight?
LAST WEEK: With Jessie Belle, was defeated by Taeler Hendrix & Dylan Bostic on Wednesday. Defeated BS 2.0's Joe Coleman at SNS.
*UH-OH!!! The first ever TNA GutCheck winner returned to OVW this week and made an impressive showing. Now that he has returned to action, what lies ahead for this talented young superstar? And what about BS 2.0? Will they be looking for another match with the Lone Wolf?
#11) RYAN HOWE (Last Week: #13)
LAST WEEK: With Elvis Pridemoore & Nick Dumeyer, defeated the team of Ricky Chevy, Eddie Diamond, & J. Best at SNS.
*The rocker continued his impressive win streak getting the pin for his team at SNS. His focus will now shift on how to defeat Rob Terry & TV Champion Tony Gunn in a triple threat match at this week's TV taping.
#12) CLIFF COMPTON (Last Week: #10)
LAST WEEK: Lost to Chris Silvio in a 2-out-of-3 falls match at SNS.
*Cliff lost his match, a couple spots in the rankings, and maybe some crowd support after slamming Silvio through 2 chairs following his loss at SNS. What will he have to say about his actions this week?
LAST WEEK: Lost in the finals of the Nightmare Cup to the team of Michael Hayes & Moose at SNS.
*Ted & Adam came close to winning the Nightmare Cup and becoming #1 contenders, but came up short. The Mobile Homers were good sports, though, and congratulated Moose & Michael on their win, and even went as far as telling them they hope they get the first title shot after they defeat the Best Team Ever.
#14) BRANDON ESPINOSA (Last Week: #8)
LAST MATCH: Defeated Ricky Chevy.
*Espy was missing in action and tumbled a bit in the rankings due to all the movement from last week's TV and SNS. Now that he is back in singles action, will he be looking to work himself into title contention for the TV Title?
LAST WEEK: Defeated Scarlet on Wednesday.
*Epiphany picked up a win last week over the debuting Scarlet, and shouldn't be forgotten by Taeler Hendrix in the Women's Title hunt. After Taeler successfully defended against Jessie Belle, does that put Epiphany back at the top of the line?
LAST WEEK: Rocco lost to Randy Royal by DQ after interference from BS 2.0 at SNS.
*Fans would've liked to find out if Big Rocco would've been pinned had the rest of BS 2.0 not interfered in his match with Randy Royal at SNS. Regardless, a loss knocks him & Wayne down the Top 20 this week.
LAST WEEK: Coleman lost to Alex Silva at SNS.
*It just wasn't a good week for BS 2.0, as Alex Silva was fed up with their weekly takeovers and helped Randy Royal even the odds. Will any of BS 2.0 be looking for another fight with the Lone Wolf?
#18) RANDY ROYAL (Last Week: NR)
LAST WEEK: Defeated Eddie Diamond on Wednesday. Defeated Rocco Bellagio by DQ at SNS.
*The Double R Superstar works his way back on the Top 20 after 2 wins over the last week. Is the beef between him & BS 2.0 over with, or will they continue to clash this coming week? And will Alex Silva aid him in his quest to stop all the "BS"?
LAST WEEK: With Nick Dumeyer & Ryan Howe, defeated Ricky Chevy, J. Best, & Eddie Diamond at SNS.
*Elvis returned to action and picked up a big win in a 6-man tag at SNS. What's next for the rapper from Down South?
LAST WEEK: With Taeler Hendrix, defeated Alex Silva & Jessie Belle on Wednesday.
*Bostic picks up a mixed tag win over Jessie Belle & TNA GutCheck winner Alex Silva, as well as aiding Taeler in her victory over Jessie Belle at SNS. Can Taeler's boy-toy continue to succeed for both of them?
MISSING THE CUT:
-Rudo & Shiloh
*The tag team that feels like they must do whatever it takes to not be looked over tried to interfere in the Nightmare Cup final to no avail. They'll have to do more than that to get back on the Top 20.

-Jessie Belle
*After pinning the Women's Champion 2 weeks ago, Jessie Belle was defeated twice in the last week by Taeler Hendrix. She missed out on the Women's Title and a spot on this week's Top 20.
-Fabiano Rolento
*Fabiano made a good showing for himself by defeating one of the Street Kings, J. Best. However, he still failed to impress Epiphany, who slammed him for his efforts.
